McCain is planning a campaign blitz.
McCain is planning a campaign blitz.

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate John McCain will campaign in seven cities in seven states on Monday, the day before Election Day, campaign manager Rick Davis said Friday.

The exact itinerary has not yet been nailed down, he said. McCain and the Republican party expect to outspend his rival, Democrat Barack Obama, by $10 million in the closing days of the campaign, Davis said.

CNN's Poll of Polls shows McCain trailing by seven points nationally, and CNN's Electoral Map suggests Obama is well ahead in the race for electoral votes.

I lived in Az from the age of 9 to about 29 which included the Reagan years. The state as a whole had terrible schools and a terrible economy. It was also overwhelmingly Republican. It was growing up in Az that I decided to be a Democrat. The political base there is one of the main reasons I moved to MN. For McCain to even be in danger of losing AZ is quite remarkable. Good for you, AZ!

AZ citizens are comprised of the rich and white and then everybody else.

For those of you that insist on putting your head in the sand about Obama, and only see the BEST of him, answer me this - How do you explain his "socialist" (that's right, I said the S word) tendencies to "deny the press" that don't agree with him. For those of you that haven't heard (because CNN hasn't reported it yet), just today they announced that he has decided to "remove three reporters from his plane that endorsed McCain". His reason – not enough room.. EXCEPT - in the past, presidential campaigns that had too many people and not enough room on the plane – GOT A SECOND PLAN. No money for that – we all know that's not true.. No time for that – in the past presidential candidates with a lot more events (5-7 per day) were able to manage two planes without issue.. Well – at least he was fair about who he kicked off - wait, no – he only removed those papers supporting Mccain. Let me guess – you're all going to argue – Well good for them!! Those reporters don't deserve access anyway - except, what's next – he starts dictating what stories can be broadcast?? Freedom (and access) of the press is a fundamental RIGHT, RESPONSIBILITY, and OBLIGATION.. even Obama supporters should speak out against this one.. If he IS elected, he needs to know that we as Americans will not tolerate surpression of the press. (CNN - I know you support Obama, it is obvious in your stories, but please post this – and report on it - its important for us to know this and its important for you too – and feel free to remove any and all references to your station.)

Noah   October 31st, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Obama supporters are truly the lowest of the low. You can never argue based on any concrete facts or logical arguments. You can only resort to name calling and disgustingly low-rode attacks. John McCain IS an American hero and as such he deserved your respect, even if you do not want him as your President. Obama has never stood for change in his entire political career. He has always towed the line of his party. You people are so desperate that you look only at his "beautiful rhetoric" instead of his frighteningly short and unaccomplished record.

Too late McCain, I already voted for Barack Obama. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, you repugnants can keep your divisive ideas. By the way, liberal means open-minded, is that such a bad thing?

Poor guy, he's too old to be doing that. My grand parents can't even visit seven relatives who live on the same block in a day. Are they crazy?

CNN, I am really disappointed. I really thought that you were making a real effort to remain unbiased, but the more I see, the more I am convinced that you are so far up John McCain's you-know-what it isn't even funny. From Lou Dobbs to the blantant refusal to air Obama's 30 minute ad, you are being so obvious it's sad. How does it feel to be the new Fox News?

McCain and palin cant get along now !! What will they bring to the white house? Anger, a divided nation. And will they listen to the people or only to themselves? I am a small business owner and i see great things in store for us if obama wins. I would gladly pay more taxes if it means to do my part in the cure of our nation. I cant afford to pay employees now and must work 7 days a week on my own, 10 and 12 hours a day. Believe me i wish i made 200,000 a year let alone 250,000. So to all these small business owners who are not willing to help our nation, all i can say is shame on you. What happened to 9/11 when we were a nation that pulled together and stood together and overcame. I love my nation and always will................

God bless obama

When Larry King asked McCain if he believes that Obama is a socialist, McCain answered "No". When a lady said she's afraid of Obama, McCain said "No, he's a decent family man. No need to be afraid from him".

So, if McCain is honest, then who's spreading this "socialist" and dirty stuff? If McCain is dishonest, then ...

Independent but Leaning:

Oh shut up. You don't have a clue what socialism is. And you certainly don't have a clue that our country already functions with various levels of socialist principles. And where did they start. Ask McCain's hero Teddy Roosevelt. Ask FDR. And oh yes, ask Ronald Reagan, the engineer behind the Child Tax Credit which is a pure example of redistributing the country's wealth. Go away Independent, perhaps all the way to Cuba.

Mia and Mike   October 31st, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Oh my, can his age and health allow him the stamina to be able to do that? What is going to do, give 20 minute rallies in each state? I'd be interested to see what cities and states he goes to. They better release them soon, otherwise no one may show up. Most voters who've yet to vote will already be taking some time off from work to go vote on Tuesday, so who in the heck is he expecting to take time off on Monday to come see him speak?

Sorry McCain, but these Independents have already voted for Obama! Perhaps if you had been the old McCain of 2000 and had not picked Palin as your VP you could have gotten our votes, but we are firmly behind Obama/Biden now.

I look at the electoral polls and see the vast red areas. They don't seem to be very close to any higher education. Is this is coincidence?

Question Obamaholics. If 'The Annointed One' was really all that and a bag of chips, as you so gullably proclaim in posts all over here, why does he only have a single digit lead in polls that use such a miniscule fraction for the sample that if it was any other research it would be discounted for being to small? If he was the savior to all America's ills, will make the world love us, fix the economy and make our bedsheets smell April fresh, then you'd think he'd have vast double-digit leads.

Oh well, you've been dilusional so far in thinking he'll fix everything, might as well keep up the charade until the 5th, when you then realize that there were Americans smarter than you, who sent the Annointed Failure back to his mansion he got with help from his slumlord pal, to listen to his Rev. Wright cds, read his Bill Ayers books, email Scarlett Johansen, and avoid phone calls from his relatives that are living in squalor.

I am amazed that McCain/Palin campaign insist on carrying a negative campaign to the end. All he is doing is promoting Obama by regurgitating all the great policies of Obama. McCain is toast.

If McCain wins it would be ashamed and would be a destruction of American democracy, considering all the polls. It is ironic that we insist on a democratic system in Iraq and yet we (u.s) can not carry out a perfect election...look at all the early voting problems we are having.

Obama supporters should take a quick investigative look into all the "community organizing" your candidate has done in Chicago...economic and crime problems are completely out of control there. But that's Bush's fault, I'm sure will be the response. Obama's only real experience has been campaigning for this election...but now I'm guessing I'll be labeled a racist. To bring up the facts about your "Messiah" is simply something that you don't want to hear. Now I am truly seeing the "dumbing-down" of America in action. Absolutely amazing!

al in memphis   October 31st, 2008 12:32 pm ET

From Independent but leaning - McCain will win because Americans do not want socialism. We have seen Cuba and we don't want that kind of equality: equally poor, equally hungry, equally politically silenced.
------------------------------–

Now let's get a grip with these comparison. IPersonnally , think there is no market better than the US free capitalism. But if you are going to make comparison, then be thorough. Cuba and China have the same systems. We are borrowing money from China.

Stop with just repeating what your hear - Please look at the rationale behind the canidates and then make a decisions.

CNN, why do you post comments that are nothing but hate? You have some guy on here taking a shot at John McCain saying that he is a disgrace to his uniform. I have tried to post very many comments that have no name calling in them and that are, I think, substantive. (Of course, I am a bit biased on that claim).

The apparent Obama supporters on your 'Ticker' rarely post anything of substance. Simply McShame, McSane, McSame, Falin, Caribou Barbie, the shameless list goes on.

Your policy states "You may not post any unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic or other material that would violate the law. Please note that CNN makes reasonable efforts to review all comments prior to posting and CNN may edit comments for clarity or to keep out questionable or off-topic material. All comments should be relevant to the post and remain respectful of other authors and commenters." Please adhere to it.

I haven't seen any unlawful, threatening or pornographic comments, but the libelous, defamatory and obscene abound.

Where are the youth?   October 31st, 2008 12:31 pm ET

Anyone paying attention to the various news reports about dismal youth turnout so far in the early voting? The youth are a big Obama block. If they fail to turn out, as it usually happens, Obama will lose.
The youth are very active in blogging, campaigning, recording youtube videos, but will not stand in line for several hours to vote.
Young people are lazy – is is just a fact- and when they realize voting means hard work – standing in the rain, skipping lunch- they'll skip out. It happens every time.

I don't care how long this man was captured or that he is a "decorated" war here because he was a POW – that doesn't make him qualified to run the country – He is a disgrace to his uniform and he has only proven that over & over by how he has conducted his "campaign" (if you can call it that) – these are the actions of a desperate man in his final hours.......

I went to barackobama.com as I;;ve seen so many people say on this site, to try and figure out exactly what he is going to do as president. I found a lot of promises, such as I will end the war in Iraq, I will solve the immigration issue and make sure all immigrants are legally here and can read and write english.
Lots of great things he's going to do.
But not once did I find a solution or details on how he was going to do all those things. Justs words.
I realize this is what he is good at. Telling people what's wrong, that they need to be better, but not one single thing on how to get there other than to say whose fault it is that things are the way they are. And... he didn't even get that right.
So I agree, go to barackobama.com and see what he is all about. Empty promises and no solutions. But it sure sounds good and he has a bunch of sheep following him.
I don't believe there are any independants anymore. At least I'm not.
McCain 2008. A president that's more than fancy words and lots of money to buy your vote. A president that is in it for the good of the country, not his own good.

McCain should lose Arizona. He deserves it after picking a vice presidential candidate, who is unfit for this position. How can he expect that any reasonable person would vote for him if he made such a bad judgment call by forcing Sarah Palin down our throats? He made himself unfit for becoming president.

The republican party should really be proud with Joe 6 pack, Joe the plumber, Joe the wall street crook, and now JOE McCARTHY has been raised from the dead-you know, that senator who called people communists and socialists and any lists that will get him elected–no not Joe McCarthy, mccain–the reason why congressman lewis called Joe mcshame McCarthy out of the hate campaign. mcshame has taken this country back to the McCarthy era and that is the scariest part of what is going on.

Your VP candidate's husband Todd Palin is a domestic terrorist in the Alaskan Independence Party.
You accuse Obama of knowing Rashid Khalidi, yet you yourself have given Rashid Khalidi & the PLO $500,000.00!!! So by your logic, if Obama is a terrorist sympathizer like you claim, then you Senator McCain are a state sponsor of terrorism. You are, by your own twisted logic, a terrorist by your own admittance.

Ya know, it is becoming crystal clear what is wrong with the GOP party. Look at the people they are parading on the campaign stages to try to get whatever votes they can scrounge out of the bottom of the barrel. I say that only because I cannot imagine that anyone would give their vote based on the irrelevant campaign-prop-celebrities that McCain/Palin have been dragging around with them unless they had the IQ of a zit. Whats more sad is that McCain is having to resort to parading these folks around because he has nothing substantial to offer. What a clusterf&%k of a campaign.

For those of you who are interested, Georgia has just updated its turnout statistics. I did the math and early voting turnout is already 53.3% of the 2004 Total Vote (early and election day). More significantly, African-American turnout is holding at 35%. If African-American turnout remains roughly where it is, Obama WILL carry the State of Georgia.

Interesting...anytime Barack Obama is outspending them something is wrong – when John McCain is doing the outspending it's something to announce to the world.

They brag about Sarah Palin drawing in the crowds, but when Barack does he's a celebrity.

Barack's campaign has done circles around McCain's negative campaign. I'm sure all 10 million will be spent on attack ads instead of positive ones touting McCain's experience; and this is why they are losing ladies and gentlemen.

Stay focused and positive Barack. Don't stoop to their low standards.

McCain is a decent man but not an astute thinker and politician. This is going to his unfolding in this election. His personal temperament and judgement do not suite for the highest office. He is impulsive and erratic rather than well thought through. He can be more dangerous than George Bush.

I also don't subscribe to continuation of Bushonomics.

Buckeye Voter   October 31st, 2008 12:24 pm ET

A Haunting Statistic .... This is Scary   October 31st, 2008 12:21 pm ET

In each year that he was President ….

Democrat Jimmy Carter increased the national debt by $80B

Republican Ronald Reagan increased the national debt by $200B

Republican George H. W. Bush (41) increased the national debt by $400B

Democrat Bill Clinton increased the national debt by $185B

Republican George W Bush (43) increased the national debt by $640B

So they next time the Republicans use the “Tax & Spend Liberal” gimmick against Democrats, remember these HARD facts.

Republicans are responsible for the clear majority … over 80% ... of the balance on our national credit card ….. So who are the Big Spenders???

McCain is too "cocky" even here in his home state. Whether or not he wins the state, it will be close and not a blow out that McCain thinks he will have here. There are an awful lot of "new" residents here from all over the country that probably don't care or didn't care for McCain before. McCain doesn't spend that much time in the state unless he is at his home up in the Sedona/Cottonwood area. I have only lived here 7 years, but I think I have seen and visited more of the state than he has. We take day and weekend trips to some really out of the way places that have historical significance in the growth of Arizona. I wonder if McCain can even find places like Jerome, Greer, Eager and other small towns on the map.

ter•ror•
1: a state of intense fear
2 a: one that inspires fear : scourge b: a frightening aspect c: a cause of anxiety : worry d: an appalling person or thing ; especially : brat
3: reign of terror
4: violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands

By definition a terrorist is anyone who incites fear and terror through lies, false accusations, and other coercion techniques that are not true. So therefore, by official definition Sarah Palin and many of the McCain/Palin supporters are TERRORISTS who keep creating lies and false accusations for the purpose of scaring people not to vote for Obama. You people must be proud.

obama will build bridges – but they won't be bridges to nowhere

Sorry – I can't identify with someone who has 7 homes (?) married a rich woman to help push his new found "celebrity" when he came back from 'Nam – and left his wife (for all of the above). Ladder climber indeed.

I can identify with someone – who grew up in a mixed neighborhood – had to deal with a broken family – but still came out with a head on his shoulders and a desire to help others! This folks is a "modern American Hero!"

Give "diversity" a chance – its coming anyway – life goes on folks -lets get it done and do our part to help.

Boy! for a guy who said he'd run a respectful campaign, McCain is sure telling a LOT of LIES. Saying a LOT of nasty things. Most importantly, he's not telling us how he's any different than his buddy Duhbya. Same failed policies, same divisive, hateful, dishonest politics.
Go ahead McCain, destroy what's left of your honor.
Senator Obama has shown what an issue based, respectful and honorable campaign is. That's why you'll lose everyone but your hard core base.
Vote Obama/Biden!

Todd's arrest on Oct. 23, city police said she told them she had prior mental problems and made up the whole story about a tall black man robbing her and mutilating her face when he saw a John McCain sticker on her car in Bloomfield. Nobody is talking about this how this was about racism and politic.

"Sen. John McCain on Friday blasted both the Bush administration and the Obama campaign for not doing enough to help homeowners stay in their homes as he began a two-day bus tour across the must-win state of Ohio."

Oh yeah right Mr. McCain, we already know how great Bush administration is, and ok, i agree Obama campaign is not doing enough but can you tell me what are you doing about this issue? Do you think people are that stupid to just hear what you say? com'on old man your time is over.

And then it will be buh-bye for McCain, who will fade into the western sunset and Sarah will skedaddle back to Alaska, being chased home by a moose.

Maybe then we can get America the Beautiful back in positive territory.

No Hillary = No Obama   October 31st, 2008 12:11 pm ET

WHen all the books get written about this Presidential election cycle, all the Obama books should be categorized under fiction.
