shug Joe the "Plumber" appeared on stage to campaign for McCain and was put front and center by the campaign as representing the average guy. That makes him a figure in the campaign and subject to being checked out. So we find out he is in fact not a licensed plumber, that he has a history of spousal abuse and non-payment of taxes and that he admittedly knows "enough about foreign policy to be dangerous" but still thinks he's qualified to say that Israel will be destroyed if Obama is elected. Sad, but the sign of a desperate campaign. On the other hand, Obama's half aunt on his father's side of the family who he hasn't had much to do with is living quietly--if illegally--in the USA and has nothing to do with the campaign is apparently outed by a Federal public servant for political purposes. There's a way to deal with overstays, that isn't it. Sorry, checking out Joe the "Plumber" is fair enough; going after non-campaigning distant relatives is desperate. We've heard nothing from McCain about how he's going to fix America's problems but more tax cuts for the rich and carrying on Bush's dumb war which has cost nearly 4500 coalition troops their lives and the taxpayer 10 BILLION a month. Compared to that I don't care if Obama has three half-aunts in Boston.

Glad I voted already for the Obama/Biden ticket. This is very senseless. As far folks commenting about Joe the Plumber, he's already been discredited as a phony. Him being behind on his taxes and child support, etc is public info. The fact that this is priviledged info supposedly protected by the INS and Dept of Homeland security makes criminal that this info was "leaked" by a federal law enforcement official. It was strange for President Bush to go over to the RNC head office in D.C. the other day. And there has been much speculation as to why McCain and his staff seemed so upbeat for the past few days.
Now we see the RNNC stepping in with huge ad buys and the release of this private information about Barack's father's [who was only around till he was two] half sister whom Barack has seen in the U.S.

Obama's HALF-aunt may be living in this country after being denied asylum. That is not a CRIME. It is an administrative violation. The details of a person's immigration status are private by law and disclosing them is a CRIME.

If the story is true, them the law should be followed in her case as in any other immigration case. The local housing officials should determine how she was able to live in public housing and get that loophole closed.

However, the real crime here is the leaking of private information to help a campaign. It is shameful and the perpetrator should go to jail. The government has a lot of information about all of us and we are protected by privacy laws. What if it was your private data being used to attack a political enemy?
