Cindy McCain says media gives Palin a bad rap

(CNN) – Cindy McCain came to the defense of Gov. Sarah Palin Monday, telling CNN’s Larry King the media has unfairly criticized the Republican vice presidential nominee when it comes to her qualifications and her wardrobe.

"She's been an inspiration to women all over the world and absolutely I think she was treated very poorly in the press," Mrs. McCain said in an interview that aired on Larry King Live.

Mrs. McCain also disputed political observers who have said Palin has hurt the Republican ticket more than she has helped.

"I have heard those – the quote ‘pundits’ that have said that. Those clearly are the pundits that perhaps are not on our side," McCain said. "Besides the crowds she gets, the inspiration, the – just her ability to get her message out, get our message out, she is a truly remarkable woman and I am just so glad that I know her."

But a new CNN/Opinion Research corporation survey released Sunday appears to suggest the opposite: 57 percent of likely voters questioned said Palin does not have the personal qualities a president should have. That's up 8 points since September.

When it comes to the now famous $150,000 wardrobe tab picked up by the Republican Party, Mrs. McCain said she thought it was a “very silly thing to be upset about,”with all that is facing the country right now.

"We need to be concerned with what's going on with our economy, how we keep people in their homes, how we bring jobs back to areas like Scranton, Pennsylvania where we are and just make sure that people are able to keep – not only keep their jobs but be able to provide for their families. That's a great deal more important than clothing," Mrs. McCain said.

As for her husband, she said he's doing "great."

"It can be very personal sometimes and he is just always the one that keeps everybody level and keeps everybody on target with what we're doing. I just love him for that,” she said.

While Mrs. McCain has enjoyed her time on the trail, win or lose, she also said she is looking forward to resuming "a bit of a normal family life again," after the elections are over.

So the media is to blame for her being stupid? The media is to blame for her not releasing her medical records like the other candidates? The media is to blame for her ethics violations? Excuse you, Mrs. Palin, but you gave yourself a bad rap. The media just exposed you for what you really are–corrupt.

Cindy was good on SNL, but not ready for prime time. I will give her this though, she dresses better than Michelle. Did you see that outfit Michelle had on last night. I thought she was going to the gym. What's up with her clothes? Cindy has the money to spend on clothes, and it shows, but Michelle could do a little bit better.

The reason Palin has gotten a bad rap is 100% THE REPUBLICANS PARTYS fault. They introduced the world to someone who they said was the best, smartest and experienced politician ever. They put her out with a crown and touted her as the best thing since sliced bread. They told the world she is a reformer, when she turns out to be an abuser and spender of tax dollars for her to fly her kids around the country like she was the queen. They touted her as an energy expert when she does not even seem to grasp global warming.I hate to use the M word as that should only be used for Independents, but thats what her and McCain call themselves. Her experience was grossly overexaggertated to the degree if she had a regular job she would be fired for lying so much on her resume. The bottom line is she is no where close to what republicans said she was.Since the media did such a great job of vetting her we know the truth. If McCain would have vetted her he obviously would not have picked her. They can only blame themselves Cindy.

Sarah Palin made a fool of herself without the help of anyone in the media.

Her ignorance, extremism, and blatant irrationality required no amplification or commentary.

Americans have taken the measure of Sarah Palin and she has been found wanting. Mrs. McCain should be familiar with the problem.

I would laugh about this if it weren't so hypocrital and sad. One of the elistest women in the world let alone the biggest elitist of this entire camapign who can sling mud as quickly as she dons Valentino or Armani is actually going to lecture the media about being unfair toward the most loathsome excuse for a VP nominee this side of Cheney? Puhleeze. Palin is a big girl and she's proven that the way she can run her mouth like her own backyard isn't full of one steaming pile after another hate, ignorance and bigotry full throttle to anyone who would listen. She knows how to dish it out in dumpster loads so forgive me if I don't cry a river for the fake sexism or unfairness charges being touted in this piece on her behalf.

    message out just fine.

You betcha!!! If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...why call it a rose. Sorry Cindy, but in my educated and most humble opinion, the media called this one correctly.

Why is she even allowed to speak? You, your husband and his running mate have had nothing nice to say ...and you have the nerve to be offended. Thanks for the comedy but no thanks!

I will be soooooooo glad when this is over and we deal with real issues when Barack Obama and Joe Biden win this election!

Cry me a river, Cindy. Don't blame the press for vetting Palin because your husband's campaign failed to do their job and pick a truly competent vice presidential candidate. Your claims of sexism don't work. Palin is a disastrous choice to be so close to the presidency.

The wardrobe thing is silly. Let's focus on her violating state ethics laws and being found guilty of abusing her power, then.

Soon Palin will be out of our face, and hopefully spending some time in the same vocation as Ted Stevens!

Give me a break I am so tired of the blame being put on the media. If the McCain/Palin campaign did something besides create false accusations and complete lies against Barack Obama there wouldn't have been an issue. When you're lying to the country how do you expect to be presented positively to the public? The media has been fair, they've had positive and negative stories about all candidates. Palin doesn't have the knowledge or experience to be a heart beat away from the Presidency and she proved that herself. Just because your tactics blew up in your face doesn't mean it's the media's fault, you make the news they present it to the public. The words came out of your mouths not the media's you have no one to blame but yourselves.

Obama/Biden '08 our countries only REAL hope for Change!!!!

I see. It was the press. I guess it has nothing to do that the moronilla from Wasilla couldnt put together a sentence by herself when it comes to talk about any of the issues of this election; economy, national security, foreign affairs, etc. Not one time she could put together an answer of her own. However she proved herself very capable of calling Obama a terrorist many many times.

    Get along home Cindy!

    If you're still undecided tonight...please don't vote...you're not informed .

It's no problem for Palin to sling it......but she can't take it when she gets called out on something – Like her viability to be 2nd in line for the Presidency – I cannot respect someone that so willing lies/and distorts the truth and in the same breath calls herself a Christian. At least Obama & Biden act like Christians (for real ones!)

Palin is bad news. she doesn't represent any woman. She is the reason that reinforces discrimination against women: She is incapable.

There are many women who are capable in the GOP. McCain is incapable of a forward looking decision.

    All,
Cindy is John McCain's family. We wouldn't be pleased if someone insulted Michelle or Obama's late grandma. Instead of throwing shots at Cindy McCain, let's go make calls to undecided voters . It's a better use of time. That's what Barack would do.
