Hank Williams, Jr. says Obama doesn't like the National Anthem

Hank Williams, Jr. has performed at several McCain-Palin campaign events.

(CNN) - In the waning hours of the presidential race, the toughest shot against Barack Obama may not have come from the Republican ticket, but from country music star Hank Williams, Jr.

The country-rocker, a campaign trail fixture who has penned a special song for the GOP ticket called "McCain-Palin Tradition," suggested Monday Obama doesn't like the national anthem.

“You know, I’m usually at Monday Night Football tonight, but Colorado, this is a lot more important tonight. Join me now in our national — you know, that song that, uh, Mr. Obama’s not real crazy about, we’re singing it right now," he said before performing his version of the song.

Williams, Jr., aka Bocephus, also performed "McCain-Palin Tradition," which includes a line that suggests Obama has "terrorist friends."

After playing both songs, Palin thanked Williams, Jr. for his help on the campaign trail, and did not acknowledge the national anthem remark.

The comments appear to reference a long-debunked e-mail rumor that Barack Obama refuses to put his hand on his heart when the national anthem is played. That e-mail stems from a 2007 photograph showing the Illinois senator with his hands by his side during a performance of the song.

The e-mail also stated Obama said the national anthem is a "war-like message" and should be swapped for a tune like "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

Obama, in fact, has never said those things.

Hank Williams jr. , is in the right company , ( losers ) he looks like a red neck thug . He looks as though he has`nt taken a shower in month`s .
It`s always the one`s that throw the first stone that usually have the most to hide . That druggie could care less about the national anthem.
He is nothing but a low life hypocrite , and a loser in my book . I wonder when his next CD , album will appear ?......
He really makes the John McBush / Sarah Palin ticket look " cheezy ", and dysfunctional . Looks like he sleeps in his clothes , and does not bathe .

Please contact the NFL at (scroll down to the bottom of their homepage and click on "Conact Us") and express your dissatisfaction with Hank Williams. He should not be allowed to represent the NFL.

  6. NFL, take notice

Maybe the NFL should think about not using Hank Williams anymore.

To Jane who said on November 4th, 2008 1:27 am ET

"I am convinced that most of the posters here are under the age of fifteen and by and large don't have a clue about politics in the United States of America. It is a known fact that very few of you know any history of the country at all and how politics have ALWAYS been conducted here. "

Well Jane, I'm a single white 45 year old, college educated woman and my knowledge of American History is just fine. And as an undeclared voter (for many years a Republican, until the party started pandering to the very worst of human nature) I am voting for Obama/Biden tomorrow morning.

    "....a known fact..."? Hardly.

I guess I'll be "electing" to never buy another Hank Williams Jr. record. What a disappointment he must be to the memory of his father. But, you know... its just this type of hostile, nasty, hateful devisive message that has driven so many Americans to Obama and his message. Indeed, this message about a candidate for the presidency of our great nation is as anti-american as it gets. It is one thing to legitimately disagree with a candidate's message or position on the issues. Its entirely different to "attack" the person with such a vicious disregard for the issues (or the truth). Note, this election was neck and neck just before the republican convention. It was at that convention that the right wing hate mongers took over the McCain campaign... and they haven't come up for air yet... even at this late hour in the campaign. And what have they accomplished... they are now severely behind in the polls... sad...

Why are you phony patriots makin this stuff up?

Hank Jr. may feel like a Dixie Chick, day after tomorrow...
    Only, he'll deserve it.

Why in the world, all of a sudden, at this day in time, is the Obama-Biden ticket, "against" The Energy of the Clean Coal ? Sen. McCain-Gov.Palin are real strong supporters of the technology of Clean Coal . I Think Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin is like the ole Stonewall Jackson song" I'm just an "ole-chunk of coal" ;" But, "They goin be a diamond someday",and someday soon; like today , Yes, Mam!! "All The Rawdy Friends Are Coming OVER TONIGHT" WE Going To Party!!!!!

You should feel sorry for McCain really. He's generally trying to run a credible campaign but his support base is infested with numb skulls and the unfortunate, credible, moderate Republicans are overrun and are being alienated from what was originally a respectable movement with noble roots.

Imagine the scene; Mr McCain, his wife and friends hold a dinner party and invite the world to sample their hospitality. Then in walks the red-headed cousin and urinates in the punch bowl!

People like Hank should learn that opening their mouths and spouting such rubbish is DAMAGING to the Rep. ticket, not beneficial. To win an election you must appeal to your traditional support base AND build bridges with undecideds and even the opposition.

The world outside the USA overwhelmingly wants Obama/Biden 08.

    Here's HOPING.

This is just another example of how the Republicans allow "real idiots" like this "Bocephus Hank" to spread lies and hatred. Sarah Palin does the same on her speeches but we the people are not dumb as they think we are.
This Republican campaign for president is the worst in history.

President Obama, let's change the World!
