McCain's first rally of the day was attended by only about 1,100 people.

TAMPA, Florida (CNN) – Barack Obama may lead John McCain by just 2 points in the latest CNN Florida poll of polls, but the enthusiasm gap appears a bit wider.

John McCain’s first rally of the day, in Tampa outside Raymond James Stadium, only drew about 1,100 people. Local reporters noting that at almost the same spot just before the 2004 election, President Bush drew about 15,000 people. Two weeks ago, Obama drew an estimated 8,000.

Republican Gov. Crist, who had previously agreed to do interviews with CNN and various local affiliates, bolted right after the rally with no explanation.

I saw two ads in RI this morning, Obama telling me what he plans to do to fix and unite this country with no mention of McCain at all and a McCain ad doing nothing but trashing Obama once again…
You know what? McCain, I'm so sick of it! Apparently, so are the voters in FL.
Thank you Florida!

where are obama's medical records??

pilgrim girl   November 3rd, 2008 11:42 am ET

Where is her medical records? She is the only one that has not released them. She said she would , but never has why? I want a dignified educated group running the White House, who will represent us with dignity . You Betcha………….

JimZ   November 3rd, 2008 11:42 am ET

I haven't heard a single plan for change from McCain yet, only very vague generalities. Does he think that people are really that stupid? When he says that he'll take care of senior citizens, doesn't he realize that people are asking themselves; "okay how are you going to help us"? The problem is that all he has to offer is more of the same Bush policy that has driven us crazy for the last 8 years. Let's get rid of these guys that keep treating the American people like we're just a bunch of chumps to be taken advantage of.

R-Howard   November 3rd, 2008 11:42 am ET

Can't wait to see McCain's and Palin's face on Wednesday when they are beaten by Obama/Biden.

I can't wait for tomorrow; Sarah makes me sick, whatever comes out of her mouth makes absolutely no sense, and McCain should be ashamed, he ran a dispicable campaign. He deserves to lose big.

I was at the rally in Cleveland yesterday, 80,000 plus. It started raining as Obama addressed us, and no one moved. It was amazing. I am so glad that I have already voted for Obama. These past 8 years have been brutal. I am so glad that America is finally reaching the light at the end of the tunnel.

Mary   November 3rd, 2008 11:40 am ET

McCain is looking for a cheap shot to the White House. He will be just like George Bush four more years of old politics and give to the rich. People le'st get past this and vote for change.

It's sad to watch cnn show mcbush and his pig rally in front of small crowds (that they bused in) and lie about the President of the United States. They should be charged with slander.

8181k   November 3rd, 2008 11:40 am ET

Its not completely McCain's fault, it seems the US has just had it with the Republicans and their failed philosophies. People will come out in record numbers to say "we can't take this anymore!".
So I think he would have lost no matter what, but his poor management skills contributed to huge blunders by his campaign that cost him further votes and ruined his reputation and legacy. The Palin choice has also been unhelpful.

David, Silver Spring, MD   November 3rd, 2008 11:40 am ET

The Palin factor creates the illusion that McCain enjoys broad support. He, through her, enjoys fanatical support from a small fringe segment of the Republican base; but McCain doesn't get much of anyone fired up.

Dawn   November 3rd, 2008 11:39 am ET

He is a desperate old man with no substance. He pick Palin we did not…My advise is to McCain is to just give-up and go back to Arizionia in disgrace…

Go back to Alaska Sarah and face your criminal acts of abuse of power, stealing money from the Alaskan people.

I would feel sympathy for him if he has not sold his soul to the extreme right for the opportuniy to become president. I would feel sorry for him is he had ran a clean campaign and lost honestly. I would feel sympathy for him if was the John McCain he appeared to be in the past. However, now I just feel disgust.

Concerned real American...   November 3rd, 2008 11:39 am ET

It doesn't matter how many times they criss-cross the country to repeat their lies and innuendo. The truth is if McCain can't run a campaign well, how on earth can he be expected to run the country well?

Vote Obama!!! Bring snacks for the long lines, folding chairs if you need them…and your patience!

McCain experienced? Sure… why because he was captured and when his captors learned he was the son of a high end military man he was treated with kid gloves…. Sent to a hospital that took care of him quite well and treated him royally… that's his claim to foreign experience….

He graduated because his father intervene also… this man has never accomploaished anything with his own brain power… his daddy carved the way for him…. Left to his own discretion, what did he accomplish… HE PICKED PALIN– should I say more…

Senator McCain lost this election for good when he picked Palin.

I wonder if he will ever admit it.

I only hope that the Republican Party understands it as well. There should be no further dicussion about her being "the future of the Republican Party." She devided the vote more than Wright, Farrakan, Ayers and all the other trash that they threw out there. Today''s polls indicate that 56% of those polled feel she is unqualified. They're right.

bewise08   November 3rd, 2008 11:37 am ET

I guess you got to "Fight, get up and Fight, Fight" all by yourself this time. People in Tampa must be smart to have not attended your rally. Unlike the people in Miami last night. Cant believe Cubans are so For McCain just cause they think he'll be tough on Castro. What about the policies and economy here at home? Rob R. hits the nail on the head with his comment:

"How in the world can anyone take America seriously if Palin and Joe the Plumber are more electable than someone with a Harvard education who has run one of the best campaigns in history."

America is a nation with complex challenges…wouldn't you want the smartest guy in the White House? I don't understand why the Republicans are trying to play to the "average joe" theme again. Yes, it worked with Bush, but look where we're at now. I think (as evidenced by McCain's shrinking crowds) the people are ready to vote for intelligence and common sense.

Pete Collins   November 3rd, 2008 11:36 am ET

He and Sarah Palin have so many lies on their lips I don't think they themselves even know the truth anymore. I thought the Christian right was against lying. If this is true, how can this be justified? I am having an increasingly negative feeling about good Christians. In this case, they seem more to me like a bunch of Hipocrits.

Teena   November 3rd, 2008 11:36 am ET

You reap what you sow! Sorry Sen. McCain, you should have thought about what you were doing to the country and to your legacy in picking someone who calls B. Lee   November 3rd, 2008 11:33 am ET

I think we are witnessing and unstoppable wave of enthusiasm roll across our nation. American citizens now realize that the challenges we face today and in the future require a different style of national leadership, and a fresh approach to strengthening our econoomy, our helth care system, ouir education systems, our armed forces, our international standing, our hope for the future, and our confidence in ourselves and in the USA. Barack Obama represents that enthusiasm, and though he is not the total solution, he embodies our nation's desire to find solutions. Let's stand firmly behind our next president – with enthusiasm. VOTE AMERICA – VOTE for BARACK OBAMA.

Aaron   November 3rd, 2008 11:33 am ET

McCain had an impossible job. Bush has ruined the republican hopes for the forseeable future. Any due given to the McCain campaign was lost when they insulted American voters by selecting an attractive husk of a woman for their V.P.

This is so sad. I had so much respect for McCain, even after I decided to support Obama. But his election has grown so nasty and many of his supporters have really shown their true colors. He is a mean, grumpy old man. I wish he would have lost gracefully, but oh well…As his running mate said…C'est la vie.

This has become a trend in the recent weeks. When he came here, to New Mexico he had a small crowd of about 1400. Later that evening Sen. Obama came and had a crowd of 55,000. Pretty remarcable. Sen. McCain had a flawed strategy and less than reliable staff who's interests weren't those of McCains. I just can't see this election going for McCain.

Mark of Tenn   November 3rd, 2008 11:32 am ET

This just goes to show you how words can be twisted and changed to make a point. Sen. Obama has nothing to be ashamed about. Mrs. Obama has carried herself with the upmost respect than any woman I have seen in the public eye.

There is nothing fake about her. Everything is real and she has proven that she is more woman than meets the eye. She is a wonderful mom of two lovely children. They have been well raised and they moral fabric and family values shines forth throughout the entire family. So for all the idiots that refer to her as "Obama's babies mamma" really don't know what they are saying because if they took time to look at it., She is the (WIFE ) of one man and the (MOTHER) of two adorable children.

The next thing is this Yes we as black people are proud and for the first time in (MY BLACK LIFE) hope is just a horizon away. This is not negative my friends. It's possitive so get over it and accept it for what it really is. The opportunity for us to finally remove these shackels from around our feet.
Remember this The Obama's did make this statement . I did.
Thank you CNN for letting us see the racial division that is still prevelent in this society. Good Job.

Maggie Muggins From Selwyn   November 3rd, 2008 11:32 am ET

CNN, the Obama News Network has proclaimed that Obama the Rock Star candidate with all form and no substance is more popular then McCain! After all CNN, this is a popularity contest where the liberal biased views of a rookie senator that are more popular with your network then one of the most moderate experienced senators who is a war hero.

Johnny   November 3rd, 2008 11:31 am ET

The way I see it, the only reason anyone would vote for McCain is they are ignorant or a racist and a coward. If you believe the lies by the GOP then you are a fool. If you are using one of the lies to vote for McCain then you are a racist coward. I am a life long republican but I am voting for BO because it is the only smart choice. The abortion issue is a sticking point but religion has no place in government and should not be part of the election. The constitution should be protected. In my opinion Lying is a sin and the GOP has lied to all of us and they know it. So they do not honor God or you by there lies and if you are swayed by there lies or just hiding behind the lies to hind your racism then I feel sad for you. That is not what Jesus would do.

Watermann   November 3rd, 2008 11:31 am ET

How can this country come and work together after such an ugly campaign? Ok, also Obama attacked John McCain but he never did attack the personality, dignity, honesty of John McCain and/or his spouse or even Sarah Palin. If this is the freedom of speech, I do not want to live in America.

JC   November 3rd, 2008 11:31 am ET

No explanation is needed from Gov. Crist; the handwriting is on the proverbial wall, and we can all wave a weary goodbye to Senator McCain and especially to the supremely unqualified Gov. Palin…..

mav, FL   November 3rd, 2008 11:31 am ET

Guess people don't want to hear 30 sec of substance and then 30 minutes of smears and negativity in McCain's rally speach. Americans are not that stupid as GOP would like to think. Move away negative and diving politics, give way to common sense politics. Change we need.

Make your Vote count. Four hours of wait in voting line is no price to four years of pain. Go out and Vote.

2pacolypse Now   November 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

Wow, is this the best the GOP could roll out this year out of all the more qualified candidates, a borderline racial pot stirrer of innuendos and smears from someone who's NOT QUALIFIED apparently to be even governor of her own state with her own ethics issues. Miss Palin, there must be something about Alaska where corruption seems to be the norm and you've contracted that same disease as mayor and governor. The last day of the election you are quoting audio that's been online for the past 9 months for all to see and hear and judge and yet, that's all you have to offer for your running mate? You are fine example of what's wrong with the far right winged nutzo's in your party and why moderates, independents and Reagan Democrats have ditched your ticket. You have disgraced your party and made John McCain's lack of sound judgement picking you as disastrous to our national security and economic well being. Enjoy that flight back to Alaska. You may not find your homecoming as joyful as you think as your approval rating has gone down from 80% to currently 60% in a matter of three months.

Obama..One True Leader   November 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

Here is a list which was not addressed by either CNN or Fox News:

McCain's speech @ ACORN headquaters ealier this yr praising them for their work…
McCain, you accuse Obama of knowing Rashid Khalidi, yet you yourself have given Rashid Khalidi & the PLO $500,000.00!!! So by your logic, if Obama is a terrorist sympathizer like you claim, then you Senator McCain are a state sponsor of terrorism. You are a terrorist by your own admittance.
McCains Involvement with G. Gordon Liddy- domestic terrorist (convicted of fraud), Cindy McCain (fraudently obtained prescription drugs), Charles Keating (convicted of fraud)
McCains Involvement with New world order, radical black people killers, Sudanese extremist (genocide in Dafur)
McCains Involvement with voters fraud through YPM. You're coordinated effort to use FOX NEWS, the Bush Administration, your campaign, Sarah Palin, and The Justice Department to commit voter fraud, voter intimidation, & voter suppression is an act of terrorism.
McCain admitted recently on national TV that he “didn’t know her well at all” before he chose Palin
Rick Davis is cashing $15,000 monthly checks from Fannie Mae.
McCain voted against our troops MANY times in the senate.
McCain voted AGAINST 20 million dollars for veteran care facilities.
McCain voted AGAINST $322 million for safety equipment for our troops in Iraq.
McCain voted AGAINST $1 billion dollars in new equipment for the National Guard.
McCain OPPOSED Jim Webb's G.I. Bill.
McCain voted AGAINST $430 million for veterans outpatient care.
Your campaign advisor & "Transition Chief" William Timmons was a Saddam Hussein lobbyist for 5 years.
McCain a member of "The Project for a New American Century" – a radical extremist terrorist organization.
Todd Palin is a domestic terrorist in the Alaskan Independence Party.
You have met with Chilean Dictator Pinochet, a terrorist.
McCain and his team using Joe the Plumber the Fraud to insinuate that "Obama's Presidency will mean the death of Israel"..
McCain has not allowed Sarah Palin as promised alone to do interview with LKL, if she is qualified to be a VP of USA?
McCain, why is Sarah Palin’s windfall tax distribution to Alaskans not wealth distribution and “socialism”?
McCain, are those checks from Bush Administration last May not wealth distribution and “socialism”?

Dakota   November 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

I live in Tampa, McCain has no shot in the big cities, thats why he went to Sarasota and Palin was in Lakeland these past several days…They are reaching out to the Retires and Rednecks in our state. Not in Tampa though, as you can see, we are smart and strong and dont want to hear the fear card. Most have already voted or cant wait to vote tomorrow! As for Palin's medical records, they wont come out, that last child of hers isnt hers, its that simple, just like her.

Maine Journalist   November 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

Ahh journalistic bias. If Obama had drawn this number of people I have a very strong feeling the story would read something like "a fired up crowd numbering over 1,000″. Election season is over soon…thank god.

drbyers   November 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

John McCain isn't a bad man, down deep. He just chose a pathetic road to try and win the White House.

"Republican Gov. Crist, who had previously agreed to do interviews with CNN and various local affiliates, bolted right after the rally with no explanation."

This says it all. He is bolting to get a far away from McCain as possible. Just like the rest of the GOP.

Maybe Bruce Springsteen will let the campaign use "Running on Empty" in their last few rallies.

SuZanne in Oklahoma   November 3rd, 2008 11:29 am ET

I agree that Palin garnering so much support from americans is disturbing. That the american citizens have nothing better to offer the world than John McCain and Sara Palin will be historical. Not only will this country sink farther economically, our position in the world would be devastated.

If any McCain supporters have not voted yet, please, please think before you vote…think of your duty to rise America up not only here, but abroad more importantly…our country's future depends on it.

To all Republican die-hards   November 3rd, 2008 11:29 am ET

It's amazing to me that Republican die-hards still find it necessary to post vitriolic nonsense about Obama. It's tempting to respond with anger, but here's a better idea. How about we wait and see what happens when a true leader is at the helm of this nation. I travel a lot on business overseas and everywhere I go; Europe, Asia, South America, everyone is ecstatic about Obama. We are going to see a planetary change when this man moves into the White House. More cooperation, a greater chance for peace and reconciliation, solutions to problems that would NEVER arise with a Republican administration. You have no idea the DISDAIN with which Bush and McCain are held outside this country. And Palin? She is the laughingstock of the world. So if you are feeling uneasy about the LANDSLIDE victory for Obama and and the Dems in the House and Senate, please have patience. You are about to experience a renewal of hope; a world-changing, life-affirming change that will sweep the globe. The nightmare is over. Let the dream unfold.

Maybe he wasn't so mean and negative and had an actual message rather than just bashing Obama the whole time- people would come.

Joey Solini of Phoenix, AZ   November 3rd, 2008 11:29 am ET

It is a very sad day for McCain, I feel sorry for him like I felt for Dole in 94. I am a loyal Dem and still human,I wish him well. Hope he is able to go back to being a 'maverick' in the U.S Senate. McCain was such a good Liberal Repub at times, willing to work on a few bipartisan Senate bills. President Obama could sure use his 'maverick' leadership agasinst the ultra neocons and the far fight 'Palin Repubs' , those country last Repubs who would rather block Senate bills just to blame the Democrats as leaders of a do nothing Congress. Hope you stay in the Senate Mac.

Nancy   November 3rd, 2008 11:28 am ET

I don't doubt McCain is somewhat of a decent person. But the fact is, Obama would be a much better leader, and the people know it! He will now win PA, and it looks like other states are falling through also. He need to retire and send S. Palin back to the cold front – and her first "Dude".

If McCain looses, Sarah Palin is to be blamed. It was poor choice on his part. We are all hockey moms so do we all fit to be presidents. For Christ sake, we talking about running a country.

Dr. Jones   November 3rd, 2008 11:27 am ET

What a snapshot of the final hours for McCain…sadly he resists the common sense approach to unite all parties for the next transitorial step as there will soon be a new POTUS elect and America needs to be united to face these new challenges instead of playing pocket politics with Palin and his campaign along with the entire Republican brand. Unity…its time for change.

I'm sorry Senator McCain after the poor judgement on picking Sarah Palin as your running mate and after seeing all the hatred that your campaing was spreading I make the painful decision to vote Obama, I stood for 3 hours and finally cast my vote. I lost the trust on you and the respect you are not the same McCain from 2001..

I can hardly wait … 8 years of Republican and we are stuck in a deep hole … it's time for a new direction please …

You gotta feel bad for this guy. I do… even tho i'm still not voting for him Outshined by his opponent. Outshined by even his own running mate.

He'd do better doing funny commercials though.

Pat in IL   November 3rd, 2008 11:26 am ET

So who would want to go out and hear the same old divisive fear-mongering lies? I really hope the republican party can regroup in a few years with much better priorities. The lobbiests and special interest groups have been too much influence on them, and they've lost their way….no real stand on anything that means anything to the well being of the whole nation.

Michael in MO   November 3rd, 2008 11:25 am ET

Pleeez CNN your bias is ridiculous. I was there this morning in Tampa – it was an intentional small gathering of supporters before McCain's primary schedule for the day.
And when we will ever hear/see the truth about the almost daily 30,000 + that Sarah Palin draws?? Or the doctored and grossly staged photo ops of "Huge" stadium crowds for Barry throughout the primaries, as well as general campaign? The documentation and facts on this faux media crap is everywhere. If you want to know the truth, do your research. Otherwise, believe what the media tells you to believe, and live with the consequences.

Gregg in Grand Terrace CA   November 3rd, 2008 11:25 am ET

Hey McCain and Palin can always consider going to Vegas and doing a comedy show together. There they would have a future. He is actually pretty funny when he wants to be. Palin is actually funny for a whole different reason.

travis   November 3rd, 2008 11:24 am ET

Wow, he got 1,110. Surprised it was that much. He should start campaigning in Utah and Kansas. I think he still has a chance there, and he might be able to get bigger crows. Especially if he has more children bussed in from the school districts.

Nathan,   November 3rd, 2008 11:24 am ET

McCain sold his soul to Bush/Cheney when he decided he wanted to run for President. He turned away from everything he believed in because he wanted to win. This flip flop didn't just start during the campaign it started several years ago when he started positioning himself inside the Republican party. Just like his terrible judgement in picking that despicable moose hunter from Alaska he used bad judgement in attaching himself to Bush. He has shown that he is not too bright and that his judgement leaves a lot to be desired.

Its time to vote for the smart guy for a change. We know who that is.

The smallish numbers seems to be a trend for Team McCain (really, McCain specifically)
Didn't Crist go to Disney two weeks ago (or last week) as opposed to meeting up with McCain-Palin?

Didn't Joe the Plumber no-show last week (remember the call out for Joe from McCain with no answer?)

This is a rejection, I think, of the campaign McCain has allowed to be run on his behalf. People are scared of what is happening economically and he never was able to turn that issue around (at least towards him, if not to his benefit).

Billy   November 3rd, 2008 11:20 am ET

I regret that a good and honorable man, like McCain, got caught up in the "win at any cost" game and tactics. His pick of Palin was the final blow to an otherwise distinguished career. She's unvetted, inexperienced, factually ignorant, and is so far right , when the country has moved toward the center. He was not served well by his advisers, aligning him with Carl Rove-like tactics that this country, in most part, has come to despise. McCain, the "maverick", was talked into running an old-school campaign, when us Americans have graduated to a new way of thinking. Good ridance to the nasty and divisive ways of the Republicans. Hopefully, this party will have learned its lesson.

This is an indication of how out of touch the McCain – Palin ticket is with ordinary American people. I bet these are special people or lobbyists who attended the republican campaign rally.

This year the repubs are going down in a hand basket.

Rob R   November 3rd, 2008 11:18 am ET

The problem is most people voting Republican are voting for Palin NOT McCain which is very disturbing. Most Republicans don't like McCain and it is evidenced by the lackluster crowds when he speaks alone.

How in the world can anyone take America seriously if Palin and Joe the Plumber are more electable than someone with a Harvard education who has run one of the best campaigns in history.

We really can't have that many dumb people in this country – can we?

Independent and loving it - Minnesota   November 3rd, 2008 11:18 am ET

McCain/Bush is a loser. He never draws very big crowds. Obama drew over 100,000 poeple at his rally two weeks and in the same area, McCain had less than 500 people. What a joke.

Palin is speaking today at the grounds of the state capitol in Jefferson City, MO. My 79-year-old mother is (regretfully) a dyed in the wool McCain supporter. That's not news, but what is interesting is that my mother had to get a ticket to attend this outdoor event. Since when do you have to get tickets for an outdoor rally? Nobody needed tickets when we attended Obama's rally in Kansas City, the one that got 75,000 attendees. Small wonder McCain and Palin have small "crowds".

Crist is of the same fabric as all other republicans. Making promises they will never keep.

Did you really expect a republican to do what they said they would? For shame, they simply lie and then "BOLT" when the time for action is at hand. McCain is head honcho of the most dispicable political party to ever exist. He stands for all that is wrong with america. He is a disgrace to the human species!

Indiana Joe   November 3rd, 2008 11:07 am ET

I was undecided until a month ago, when McCain started to get nasty, divisive and really dirty. They have called Obama every name they could think of. The other day they were targeting his half-aunt (who he is not really close to) and now Michelle, his wife. I don't want a president who has NO HONOR and NO ETHICS. I'm so DISAPPOINTED with the way McCain has carried his campaign and his FEAR and SMEAR tactics have REINFORCED MY DECISION TO VOTE FOR OBAMA. OBAMA will be a GREAT PRESIDENT for ALL AMERICANS !

Senator McCain deserves better than this. For a man to have served his country for 55 years in war and peace and has the scars to show it, this is no way to treat a honest American hero. Jeb Bush would never have treated the good Senator in this manner. I'll always be a McCain follower.

I think we are all just getting tired of hearing the same speeches at every rally. With the wide use of video on the internet now, we've learned that every rally (by either McCain or Obama) is the same speech no matter what state they are in.

I watch the rally's for both parties online while at work (shhhhh) and went to an Obama speech here in Denver. It was the same thing I heard for the past two weeks.

Plus, this has been going on for SOOOOO long, we're all just ready to vote and move forwards as a country.

Time's UP!   November 3rd, 2008 11:02 am ET

Why hasn't the 26 year seating senator American 'Hero' POW Songbird Klan rally leader closed the deal? They're running around asking why hasn't Obama closed the deal!

HE WILL TOMORROW.

The REAL QUESTION IS WHY HASN'T MCGIMMICK CLOSED THE DEAL IN RED STATES?

What's WRONG with John McGimmick?

GA Independent   November 3rd, 2008 11:02 am ET

So Biden can bring in 4,500 in little Gainesville and McPain can only draw 1,100 in Tampa, one of the biggest cities in the state?

Better make some plans for Tuesday night senator that includes crying in your beer.

Doug   November 3rd, 2008 11:02 am ET

What a little sad man you are, senator McCain.

cnn junkie   November 3rd, 2008 11:02 am ET

oh,oh obama got 80000 in cleveland.

W Spivey Merritt Island, FL   November 3rd, 2008 11:02 am ET

Charlie is no fool. He does not want to get tarred with the same stick. He has probaly already said too much in support of the fool.

Hard Working American for McCain   November 3rd, 2008 11:01 am ET

Tomorrow will be your day John McCain. Tomorrow we can make a statement to the dems and send them back to their country.

Kathy in Florida   November 3rd, 2008 11:01 am ET

McSenile has been too negative. Florida is voting for Obama. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.

jaye   November 3rd, 2008 11:01 am ET

Maybe people are finally sick of his vulgar campaign and of the lies he's saying on the campaign trail.
Something else to consider – If McCain wins this election it means George Bush is vindicated.

Ken   November 3rd, 2008 11:01 am ET

It tough to find a large crowd of neo-tards that still want to come out and actually advertise they are for a LOSER! Many of the hard-core kool-aid drinkers on the [R]ight apparently have some sense that their fear-and-smear-mongering has been contemptable. Its likely they don't want to appear as complete kooks to their neighbors.

Jeremy - Columbus, OH   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

The governor bolted, hah that's funny. Everyone is running away from McCrazy and Moose Hunter.

Onlooker   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

Most of those were probably the workers at the stadium.

ANGIE   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

Mccain tell sara to release her Medical records we want to know what shes hiding!

edd   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

Of course he drew a small crowd. It's over for him.

katiec   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

The republicans have turned off us Americans with their lies,
distortions, attacks and instigating hate, anger, unrest and
division of country at their rallies.
We cannot allow people who have no honor, integrity and
scruples to lead our country.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden 08.
It is the survival of our country!!

Amir   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

After getting the endorsement from Chenny what is left for Mr. McSame?

Betty, Virginia   November 3rd, 2008 11:00 am ET

Not to worry CNN, Gov Crist had to suspend his campaign…

Bart   November 3rd, 2008 10:59 am ET

Everyone is tired of McCain's dishonorable campaign. Once a person to respect, McCain has sold his soul to Bush.

Reason   November 3rd, 2008 10:59 am ET

McPalin defeat on Novembr 4 = priceless.

Hope in Georgia   November 3rd, 2008 10:59 am ET

It appears that most people have come to their senses. They are tired of the same old hate message by a frenzied old man who is bitter that he has been beaten by George Bush again. Obama offers hope. McCain offers hate. It's no contest.

Will-South Dakota   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

Whats the point…he's going to lose in Florida

Julius   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

Seems like that's the only people left who are voting for him. All jokes aside how can anyone be with a man who can't rally more than 1100 people with the election being so close. I would think people would be a little more excited and anxious. I know that's how it is on this side.
Obama/Biden 08

America demands answers   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

Everyone is clearly tired of being called "joe" seems to me there are still 1100 "joes" left in Tampa. 8,000 people would rather be Americans or their right name and not some lame "joe"

NO Palin   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

nobody cares about McCain. Where are Palins Medical records?

sabuc for Obama   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

What no schools to empty out and increase the crowd numbers?

FL Rep for Obama   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

Maybe because we've already voted for "THAT ONE??!!" We don't want McCain here…we really don't even want Crist here anymore after he's ruined the public sector (education, police, fire, etc.). Repubs just don't get it!! The country is changing…and moving forward with OBAMA/BIDEN!

Joyce Becker   November 3rd, 2008 10:58 am ET

I don't blame many people for not coming out for a McCain rally, why listen to the smae stale speeches that have been given for the last 8 years, we are all ready for a change!

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR OBAMA/BIDEN ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008!!!

Susan   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

Flordia knows a loser when they see one, and they cannot be bothered to even look at the biggest LIAR ever in a campaign!

Veterans 4 Obama   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

The ship is sinking and the "rats" are bolting!

PUMBU   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

McCain is Bush and people don't like Bush's past 8 years so you can tell why there is no enthusiasm. We are tired, we are exhausted and McCain, Bush and Cheney share the same philosophy. We are tired, we need new leadership, we need change, period.

Tannim   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

And he thinks he can still win WHY???

abraxis   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

FLA is showing some tenacity and courage against being swindled again. Remember the 2000 election!

1,100 people who shown up to listen to McDufus? That is 1099 more people than necessary.

Glenn in California   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

I think that here in the 11th hour, the story is becoming "obvious" to all. The ship, which now long ago hit the iceberg (i.e., picking Palin), is sinking and about to go under in the next 24 hours. In the meantime, all of the rats are deserting in order to save themselves.

Steve, New York, New York   November 3rd, 2008 10:57 am ET

Senator McCain, it seems like your biggest mistake was your choice of Sarah Palin.
It seems (unfortunately for you) that you might join the ranks of Al Gore (in 2000) and Ross Perot (in 1992), both of whom made SHOCKINGLY BAD decisions on their running mates.

NaNaNaNa NaNaNaNa HEY HEY HEY GOODBYE   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

That is hilarious, 1500 people??? Maybe he should have brought that ninny Palin so she could talk about how Sarkozy called her on the phone. Did anyone think to ask him where Palin's medical records are???

mIke   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

run as fast as you can….

You running but u can't run away from yourself

Chuck   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

Poor Poor Johnny. No one to preach to from the puppet, I mean pulpit.

Johnny   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

That is not want Jesus would do.

Paul   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

Sad, but fitting end to a despicable campaign.

KC   November 3rd, 2008 10:56 am ET

Dear Lord: Hear our prayers.

DD   November 3rd, 2008 10:55 am ET

Why does everyone keep saying “why can’t Obama close the deal”? Has anyone ever closed the deal, has it ever been an election without the undecided? And one more question, why can’t McCain close the deal, he is running against a black man?

Valerie in FL   November 3rd, 2008 10:55 am ET

Say GNite.
