McCain to make last-minute push in the West

McCain is heading back to New Mexico tomorrow.

McCain is heading back to New Mexico tomorrow.

(CNN) - John McCain will spend the final hours before the polls close Tuesday visiting Colorado and New Mexico, two states his campaign manager now says are key to a last-minute “new pathway to victory.”

Both states voted for President Bush in 2004, but have been leaning Obama this cycle.

Watch: McCain looks for a late shift in momentum

Late Sunday, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis sketched out a fresh roadmap to the White House that runs through the West, telling reporters that new surveys that suggested Barack Obama’s lead was shrinking to single digits had given the Republican nominee reason for optimism. “If we can win Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico, all of the sudden we’ve got a whole new pathway to victory,” Davis told reporters. “Those weren’t even on the list three weeks ago.”

McCain's visit to New Mexico tomorrow will mark his second stop in the state in two days.

Watch: McCain says 'I need your vote'

Obama leads by 6 in the most recent CNN Colorado poll of polls, and by 8 points in an Albuquerque Journal/Research & Polling survey of New Mexico voters, both released late last week.

Both states also feature Senate races for seats held by retiring Republicans; Democrats are heavily favored in both contests, as the party pushes for a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority in the Senate.

The fundamentals of the economy are strong.

I am suspending my campaign to support Bush's $700B socialist bailout.

I can see Russia from my house.

Sarah will be a great President.

From Chris.....if michelle obama is going to open her trap and campaign for the greatest person ever born (according to her), then she is fair game – maybe obama should stop his whining and be a man for once. .......So I guess since Botox barbie the brew heiress talks up her husband, her drug abuse and filandering is also open for discussion, yes? I want to see the medical records of Lipstick Fido that shows she had an abortion.

HELLO....if McCain wins tomorrow Hillary doesn't win in 2012-or anytime.
Remember that every Dem. vote for McCain this election is a vote against HRC in 2012 and 2016.
So vote for McCain and PLEASE keep HRC out of office for good!REAL Dems don't need your vote anyway!

Obama supporters have already proven they do not care what Obama has done in the past. They don't care that he forged extremely questionable relationships just to move ahead in his political career. They also do not care about the Constitution as they think it needs to be changed to include how the Government can provide everything for them as they cannot do anything for themselves. He does not have any solid political views, they change with the political winds. Whatever works best for him at the time. He is the worst candidate for President in history and his followers are so angry with George Bush that they are willing to vote for someone they literally know nothing about. So Sad

Does being a right winger make you paranoid also?
Sure looks like it on this blog.

Regarding Michelle....sure you can criticize just like we all did when Cindy McCain said Obama was running the dirtiest campaign ever. But the media is supposed to be somewhat above that. Appropriate criticism is fine but FOX calling Michelle "Obama's baby mama" was over the line.

But then again Rush said the Clintons were bringing a dog into the White House and then he showed a picture of Chelsea.
Nice respectful folk. Guess some things don't change.

OK Americans, I have been watching very close since primaries and have disected both candidates policies and there stand on every issue.I have watched one of the most successful campaigns ever, as well as one of the worst. McCain campaign was very much like the last Bush campaign.I am sorry but I have to ask, How stupid do you have to be to vote McCain ? I mean really, if you look for the facts and the truth there is only one way you could vote.McCain just had little to run on and from there they went with lies, fear, hate and talked about anything, except for what matters. It was very rare for McCain camp to have an anwser about how they would fix anything. They are going to shake things up but the only answer to that was to veto ear marks completly.A answer for not having an answer. Then there is Palin, and i am sorry but she could not get a job in Canada at a bank,or any government job with all her lies.My question remains, How Stupid Does One Have to Be to Vote for McCain. From here and all over the world it would be nothing short of a disaster if the Republicans won.

    Pull out of Iraq ???

Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?

    Body count:
    In the last six months:
292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq.
    Chicago.... Who Runs it:

Senators: Barack Obama & Dick Durbin
    Rep: Jesse Jackson Jr.,
    Illinois Gov: Rod Blogojevich,
    Illinois House leader Mike Madigan,
Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

..... The leadership in Illinois ? .....all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course, they're all blaming each other!
    Can't blame Republicans; they're ar en't any!
State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he' s gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us ????

  22. FactCheck

I hate the fact that Obama is going to win this election. I am angry, frustrated and worried about our economy and what will happen with Obama's economic policies. I cannot believe America is really going to put him in the White House.

Are you naive or just plain ignorant? The US is in one of the worst economic messes in modern global history. Guess who was running the ship when this happened? Guess whose economic plan is 4 more years of the same thing?

Now guess whose economic plan has been endorsed by anyone with a brain, including several fiscal conservatives (clue: his initials are Barack Obama).

  23. November 4 it ends.

Thanks for your service John... now lets pull the country back together. Stop the divisive stuff. America needs you more than ever.

The good news is that the divisive stuff is not your idea – that much is clear. Be yourself and lets work on solutions instead of accusations.
