Party aside, watching these two has been night and day. McCain adds in Pennsylvania have been all fear, all attack, with no ideas. It looks just like the swift boat adds. Obama talks about fixing the system (it worked better when CEO's got paid 40 times what workers made, not 400) , McCain just blathers on about 'socialism, unaware that 90% of wage growth has been for the top 1% only. Im sure from where he is things look good. But the rest of us are tired of working harder so our CEO can buy another house. And so Obama has my vote.

To Vindicated: You must hang out with the wrong crowd. I can tell you that Sen. Obama has a Juris Doctorate and was President of the Harvard Review. He was Director of a multiple church community organizer effort to improve neighborhoods in Chicago. He served as an Illinois Senator for 2 terms and has been a member of the U.S. Senate since Jan 2005.

Most impressive to me is the fact that he taught constitutional law part time for 12 years at University of Chicago Law School. We desperately need someone who has actually read and understands the U.S. Constitution. It has been dismantled for the past 7 years!

You need to travel in better circles.

BK - could the "don't pay taxes" comment mean people who make so little they get it all back? My son made about $2,000 last year, part time, still in HS. His employer took payroll taxes from him all year, and when he filed his tax return, he got it all back, because he made so little. Same with retirees living on SS and pensions. Are these people included in the 40%. We're not just talking about "welfare queens" who don't work. You want to spread the bad stuff, forgetting about the rest. Typical.

Wow...the Republican party has really lost its way. McCain and Palin presenting themselves as the "average guy", plain-spoken, down-home people (although they still talk about "redistribution of wealth", which is really just the 16th amendment...yeah that's right, go look it up!). But even more curious are the few people still supporting them...you sheep have really lost sight of what the conservative party means. I don't understand...America is a very complex and powerful nation, with tremendous challenges...wouldn't you want the smartest guy in the White House? Or would you go with the 72 year old idiot with no ideas (other than to attack Obama).

Even if the government did gain access to the mortgages, it would have to pay far more than they would ever be worth, housing specialists said Wednesday. That would effectively bail out banks and lenders with taxpayer money to a greater degree than Congress and the Bush administration are already doing through the $700 billion financial industry rescue enacted last week.

When I come to this site it is it has been an exercise of listening(reading actually) to the power of dogma and the reiteration of the same arguments that have been proven to be completely incorrect by those who support the McCain ticket. I for one am glad that the election ends soon as I can hardly tolerate the low brow rationalizations. Since this forum is on a web site I am curious why so many can not be bothered to concuct any validation of the points they present. What I regularly find is alot of inuendo and psudo causal relationships. Why no debate on the merits of what McCain brings to the table? Why a concerted effort to sway opinion by presentation of information that has been proven to either be completely false and at the least spurious? This is what the People are railing against this election. I want to see an Obama Presidancy for sure, but what I really will vote for this year is a repudation of the religious right in American politics. Having recently attended the proverbial Sunday dinner with the Inlaws last evening I am still amazed at the power of dogma. I endured a considerable amount of regurgitation of FOX news but as promised did not talk politics. There is no other way to marginalize the extreem right other than an overwhelming mandate manifested by a decisive Democratic victory across the board. But I ask those who we elect to brake the back of the religious right to PLEASE stay the course of moderate governance or risk reignition of the right. May they rest in peace.

I guess at this point it wouldn't matter to people to find out that on Sept. 11 Obama was also supposed to hijack a plane and crash it into the White House even if he said it in his own words. Do you possess such strength of character? Locked in a filthy cell in a foreign country, would you turn down your own freedom in favor of your fellow man? I submit that's a quality of character that is rarely found, and for me, this singular act defines John McCain.

I'm not sure how the Republican Party understands how lacking in credibility it is. They harp on Obama's lack of experience. Yet in 2000 they had no trouble advancing George Bush(with his six years of service in public office) over a longtime U.S. Senator and sitting Vice President of eight years. Not to mention Palin!
