Statement of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008

Tonight, we are celebrating an historic victory for the American people. This was a long and hard fought campaign but the result was well worth the wait.

Together, under the leadership of President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and a Democratic Congress, we will chart a better course to build a new economy and rebuild our leadership in the world. And I look forward to doing all that I can to support President Obama and Vice President Biden in the difficult work that lies ahead.

For too long, middle class families in this country have felt invisible, struggling alone as wages stagnate, jobs disappear, and the costs of daily life climb upward. In quiet, solitary acts of citizenship, American voters gave voice to their hopes and their values, voted for change, and refused to be invisible any longer.

Now we as Americans can finally feel safe again and be the true and only super power as like before. We are now in better hands and Ben ladin, you will be hinted and destroyed this time. Congrads Mr. President Obama

Thank you Hillary for your work throughout the years in service to the Democratic Party. And though it might not have mattered to the DNC establishment who introduced Obama in 2004 and helped to get him in to the Senate and now into the White House, it matters that you worked in PA and FL to help to get those two states BLUE. Thank you to former President Bill Clinton as well.

Congratulations President-elect Obama and Vice-President-elect Biden. The eyes of TX, and the world are will be watching...

PUMAs forever and with the election of this idiot, I'm switching parties. As I so eloquently heard another say today.

"I didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me"

Good Riddance

Despite the deniers and the dividers, the Democrats have come together, stood their ground, and attained a huge victory.

jbaby   November 4th, 2008 11:40 pm ET

God Bless Hillary Clinton. In the face of adversity, you are a true american. The way you tirelessly threw yourself behind the Obama train, was something for us all to aspire to.. The ultimate servant.

Kathy   November 4th, 2008 11:36 pm ET

I believe Obama needs to thank Hillary, for if not for her support he would have lost quite a few states.

I also want to point out that although Obama is African-American he is not 100%. So why is it a matter of race to so many, color shouldn't matter, yet it did. I heard so many reports that people were voting for Obama because he was AA, that's ridiculous. No one can dispute this, AA that voted for Obama was 94-98%, and when asked it was because of him being AA. I wish people for a week could be color blind, so they realize that it's not a matter of color, but a matter of what you think that person can achieve.

Fasten your seat belts. All hardworking Americans are about to be taxed beyond belief to support all the social programs that already exist and all the new ones Obama wants to start. Say goodbye to America as we know it folks. When Obama was asked what he would cut from the budget to make room for new spending, he couldn't list a single thing he would cut in order to finance all the new spending he wants. Thanks Dems for screwing us all. Maybe we'll just quit our jobs and go on welfare too. I was recently told of a lady who gets $800 in food stamps a month, that's more than I have to spend on groceries in a month. The problem with the social programs instituted under Dem controlled gov't is that once they are in place, they are NEVER undone and it will eventually bankrupt the entire country. This is a sad day for America and my only hope is that Obama and the rest of the Dems in Washington can't mess things up so badly that it is beyond repair. Now that we have the first black president, maybe the next election we can get back to the real issues and people can vote based on those.

Achille Salesh   November 4th, 2008 11:32 pm ET

God Bless America !!!

Bama chick for Obama   November 4th, 2008 11:32 pm ET

I am sitting here in awe of this. Would have never thought in my lifetime that I would have lived to see this day. Told my cousin I thought it maybe would happen when my nephew who is 16 turned maybe 40 or so.

I am so glad that the people of this country could see past the color of someone's skin and go by the things that they were saying.

This day will go down in history where some people finally figured it out, color doesn't matter.

Everyone one here who is truly behind Obama, please say a prayer for him. Because you know some people will try to go after him.

vahe   November 4th, 2008 11:31 pm ET

yes we can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jerrydtx   November 4th, 2008 11:31 pm ET

Nathan Bedford Forest   November 4th, 2008 11:30 pm ET

Hillary:

I can't believe you Clintons let him win this election. You know now that your chances of ever running for office are OVER.

You Clintons are pathetic.

Paul from Kissimmee   November 4th, 2008 11:29 pm ET

Obama, Biden, Dem congress? God help us.

Elle   November 4th, 2008 11:29 pm ET

This after all of her negative, deragatory, spiteful comments during the primary. How does a person say all those things and allow all those terrible negative ads, yet still praise Obama now. I know, none of it's to be believed. I am now very concerned abt my safety more than ever as a n American. To quote Senator Bide, Obama will be tested. Unfortunately, I beleive we will only fall further down the path. Once again, be careful what you wish for , America.

KJL   November 4th, 2008 11:29 pm ET

She could have been more active in Obama's campaign, but I suspect Obama will forget the past and put her abilities to good use.

Emilio   November 4th, 2008 11:29 pm ET

Thanks for the losing blueprint Mrs. Clinton! Without you John and Sarah wouldn't have a clue. Your use of old politics tactics help build Mr. Obama coat of armour is testament to your connection to the Republican party. I hope you get your ethics in order and get help for the bi-polar ways! God bless america!

Sunny Narang   November 4th, 2008 11:26 pm ET

Its not just an election of America, its a universal story of how one can overcome the most painful histories of the human race. Its about redemption. Its about looking with hope again in creating a world that can look beyond race.It rediscovers hope in America as the land of opportunity. Not material opportunity in an earth sufferring climate change but political and cultural opportunity. It is an amazing result showing all nations that democracy works, howsoever long it takes.

Anand & Mona   November 4th, 2008 11:25 pm ET

Hey Obama haters, NO YOU CAN'T!

Prophecy is Fullfilled.   November 4th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

Never doubt the Bible again… It is really happening here and now:

.. “And in the land shall rise the son of Cain.” From the north The Deceiver[Palin], a known Beast of false witness; will take the mark of Cain.
Together they seek to spread fear and invoke hate among the refugees of sin.
In their quest for power they will ignore the light of truth shining on the deeds and words they proclaim.
But take heart, for throughout the land the seekers of light shall rise up and not be fooled. With their strength, the mark [Cain] will be cleansed from the earth and no longer hold power to sway the blind.

Can I get an amen…? :)

Becky, Midwest   November 4th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

Hillary, Shut up! You helped elect this junior Senator! What a disgrace. TIme for the on-the-job training.

denni   November 4th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

Thank you Thank you Thank you America for voting in the most amazing man to be the 44th President of the United States of America. He will change the world. You have restored the respect and standing of America around the world and Australia stands with you. God Bless you America – love you heaps.

Southerner   November 4th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

What a two faced thing she is. Everyone knows she is gritting her teeth and saying this stuff when she really hates this outcome.

David S.   November 4th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

Well lets see how well the democrats do when they tax this country into a depression. There is alot of anger in this nation, and lets see if Obama keeps up his attacks on those who dissent with him or tries to unite this country. He needs to remember that half of the nation did not vote for him so there is hardly a mandate. He promised the moon to get elected, lets see if he can deliver without bankrutping the nation.

Texas Trail Kitty   November 4th, 2008 11:21 pm ET

Free at last, free at last, thank GOD almighty we're free at last from the Republican Regime. History has been made. Good luck and God Bless PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!

From TX   November 4th, 2008 11:20 pm ET

If he were White he would still be just a senator.

No Hillary = No Obama   November 4th, 2008 11:20 pm ET

It Should have been Hillary – but this sexist country is still stuck in adolesence. This country will NEVER see a woman President. Hillary came as close as anyone will. I feel no joy for Obama's victory.
