Exit Polls: Most Voters Decided Early

From CNN's Joe Von Kanel and Hal Quinley of Yankelovich

Voters at the polls today are very worried about both their own finances and the financial direction of the country.
Among voters surveyed so far, 81 percent are worried the current economic crisis will harm their family's finances over the next year . Of that, 47 percent say they are "very worried."
Oveerall, 62% of voters say the economy is the most imporant of five issues facing the country today. The war in Iraq is a distant second at 10%, with 9% saying terrorism and another 9% health care.

I voted for Barak because I felt that Mccain was not going to take us where we need to go. As messed up as everything is now I feel that the democrats need a stab at running the country for at least 4 years

I did not vote for grandpa. WWII Germany? Are you serious! How about the Patriot Act, that screams "fascism." Which is not the same thing as socialism. I'd like health care, I don't know about you.

Oh, one more thing, this opinion people seem to have on abortion- UNLESS IT"S YOUR POSSIBLE ABORTION, MIND YOUR BUSINESS. Anyone should have the right to do what they want with their body.

I decided over the course of the past few weeks, doing my research on actual policy and tendencies of the candidates, not on the mere hype that Obama has generated by spending huge amounts of money just to get elected....can anyone think of a better place for that...I can.

He will probably win, spend a ton of money, put business out of business here in the US, and our debt will skyrocket.

All of my income is from Capital Gains and when he raises the Capital Gains Taxes, I will cut jobs from my business to stay afloat. Wish someone would have given him a lesson in how the economy works. America will be choosing job losses and tax cuts over job growth and tax increases. But many voters don't understand the economy any further than whether they have enough money or gas is high.

These are the facts coming from a small business owner who will be cutting jobs if my CG taxes go up, not because I want to, but because I will have to. I have fought long and hard to grow my business, working night and day to get where I am, I want to keep my money or give it to those working with me or for me. I do not want to give it to the government, just because someone else needs it. That is flat out un-American.

But hey, Obama looks good and throws big rallies, and speaks well and he is "just like me"......except not at all like any of us, unless we are politicians in this political popularity contest based on nothing but HYPE.

McCain/Palin '08....the only thing that can save us from him at this point.

Peach-I did too! In 2004 I said to myself "That man is going to be President someday!" Little did I know "someday" would be TODAY! :)

I wasn't really into politics until everything started going wrong with the economy and the war. It hit home and it's all because of Bush. And McCain is a supporter of Bush...so why elect him? Who would want another 4 years of this nation like this.. the wealthy who aren't affected by it or those who refuse the an african american to be elected President. Besides, if something happened to McCain and Palin had to step up, Lord help us. She knows about as much as the rest of us....It's been time for change so let it happen!!

    OBAMA/ BIDEN

I think people have forgotten the meaning of socialism and what our grandfathers fought so courageously to stop the spread of when they fought Nazi Germany. It's sad that such a great country has such a short-term memory. On the bright side, if Obama is elected, I will be able to quit work and mooch of everyone else.
    Go obama

Interesting, as I read this blog, I hear comments comparing Obama to Hitler or Stalin and McCain to Bush, which means that the campaigns they both ran worked. Both candidates were able to convince their voters that the other side is somehow at the extreme of thought. John McCain is not President George Bush. And, Barack Obama is not socialist and cannot be compared to the most heinous crime of the 20th century. So, let's look more at the facts. McCain wants to stimulate the economy through business, while Obama wants to place money in the hands of people who will spend it. Both have an investment in seeing the economy return to it's normal cycles. I must say that despite all of this, I begrugingly voted for Obama. Only because I think it's what the rest of the world needs to see in order for us to return to our role as a player in the international community.

Obama is the answer to the problems with the world. Don't know how anyone could vote for another 4 years of the same bad judgment calls like Bush have made. Vote Obama for a change!

There are a lot of barely literate, crazy paranoid rants for McCain on here.

Why is the Republican base made up of so many simple-minded people?

Talk about God, guns or "Patriotism" and they get this glazed over look in their eyes and they'll believe any lie.

After 8 years of Republican minion's screwing things up it will be great to get back to commom sense government.

We need a new face for our country. One that reflects the diversity of this great country. One that would unite us trough our differences. We need a President that looks, thinks and acts like no other president!

i'm intrigued by what seems like many people's swooning for "change". a sexy smile and silky words seem ill equipped to fill the world's most powerful position. while i don't support mccain's vp choice, i do trust his experience over obama's charisma. essentially, however, we as americans should cease the blame shifting across party battle fronts and individually take responsibility for our part in creating this current crisis. regardless of who is elected in the next few hours, he will be our president and i will thus support him in his efforts for our country's good.

I can't believe people would waste their vote over one issue! The government (that is, white men) is not going to tell me what to do with my body.

If Obama doesn't make this, you all deserve everything you get...and everything you've gotten over the last eight years.
