(CNN) - The Ohio loss is a crushing blow to McCain. A senior-level GOP official tells me it's over. He's done.

There is no way he can win without Ohio, that was his last hope.

Obama as president... who would of thought.. this is truly a day to rember. it will go down as one of the days this nation truly shows how ignorant it is. when taxes are raised, social programs run rampant, and all the " wealth" is re-distributed. it will only take a few years for the rich to be rich again and all you poor folks to throw away anything that is given to you. you may ask " WHY?" because you didn't earn it. this nation truly is a abomination.

Proud to be American, finally   November 4th, 2008 11:54 pm ET

This has been said before, but it bears repeating. We and the rest of the world have put up with the stupidity, insularity, and bluffing of rednecks and purported Christians for the last eight years, and if any of them are depressed or anxious now, it's just an intimation of the moral horror we testifying, Holy-Ghost preaching liberals (to quote Brother Cornel West) have experienced with the theological, moral, and political distortions of the Bush years. God bless Obama: Barack=the blessed.

PDXChick   November 4th, 2008 11:51 pm ET

@nick – Obama is a 'sleeper cell Muslim'? I guess that makes you an 'out and about' clueless idiot.

That's all you and your ilk – including your P/VP candidates – have proven you can do... initiate lies, hate, and fear. Look how far it got McCain and Tail-tuck Barbie!

I am soooooooo prowd of you Senator McCain. You fought to the end and never gave up until you had no choice.
If everyone stood up for their believes like you did, think that a wonder part of the world we all in America would be living in.
You had my vote and still do!!!!!

Do not despair.

Remember, we had to go through Carter to get to Reagan.

Obama is Carter all over again.

It is a great day for our country in history. Congratulations to Barack Obama. But don't forget that a large portion of the country voted for John McCain. I have been very sad at the comments that I have read on these blog posts from Barack Obama supporters and how hateful they have been toward conservatives and anyone who would support someone other than Barack Obama. All I can do is hope that this hateful spirit diminishes and everyone will be open-minded about the issues ahead of us.

I am a 60 year old white woman who was raised in a fairly racist household. Fortunately I had opportunities that led me all over this United States and I was able to meet people from all races and form my 'own' opinions. With the announcement just a few minutes ago that projects Barack Obama to be the President-elect, I literally cried with happiness. It is time we all come together as one nation and strive for the good for ALL Americans. I am so proud that our country has chosen to ignore 'color' and elect this man as President. Now, please, let us ALL become "Americans" and forget about political parties, race, color, gender, etc…. let us ALL work for a better, stronger, more caring AMERICA. God bless Barack Obama & Joe Biden… God bless America.

Mick   November 4th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

God chose Obama! The GOP and the other commentators here should learn not to think God thinks the same as they do.

Jo-Lynn   November 4th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

Karen -WYoming   November 4th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

Obama was raised in the UCC – United Church of Christ. It is not Muslim, it never was Muslim, it is not a radical church it is about as middle of the road as you can get. I know – I too was raised in it.

Please people use facts not ridiculous rumors. Every UCC member should take umbrage at these stupid Muslim rumors. Like him or hate him, he was not raised Muslim.

Cindy   November 4th, 2008 11:18 pm ET

Congratulations to Obama. Jon McCain thank you for your fight for this country. To fellow Americans, he can't do it alone, we all have to GIVE to get this country out of it's mess. There have to be cuts, there will be higher taxes, the government is not responsible for those who don't contribute! We need to bring back jobs for those willing to work, and for those who are living off the government get off your butts and work!

Txsgirl   November 4th, 2008 11:17 pm ET

Freedom isn't free..............and our economy is showing that now. At least the money going to a country that no longer wants us can now come back to America to help us and not to Cheney, Bush, and Haliburton.

When you guys are ready to wake up and smell the oil, we will be waiting with open arms. I was for the Iraq War at one point too and believed the lies. I had a husband and a brother go there.

The Republicans got spanked and let's only hope they learned a lesson and don't pout, whine, and throw tantrums for the next four years.

Obama becoming President shows the world Americans know how to use our Democracy to make change.

We were paying attention and WE CARED!

Jack   November 4th, 2008 11:16 pm ET

Wow, the way you are acting so childish is appalling. And when a thirteen year old is saying that, you really need to clean up your act. Congrats to Obama for becoming the soon to be President, ands close loss for McCain, but I doubt that either is a good choice as they are too extreme. While McCain would let us have our money and go wild, Obama would help us out in everyplace and throw our money away. Either one could as a popular Bush, although the way I see it, we'll Bush like George Washington by the time we're done in 2012. P.S. It's not over until it's over

Ann   November 4th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

If Americans wanted change they would have voted for the McCain/Palin ticket because we have never elected a woman Vice President. Instead another man may be elected President which does not represent change. Britain, Germany, India, Israel, Pakistan and numerous other countries have elected women Presidents and Vice Presidents but not America. Why? Sarah Palin was just as qualified or more qualified than Obama, Biden and McCain. Yet American women allowed Palin's qualifications to be questioned and in some cases some women joined in the criticism or Palin but did not criticize Obama, Biden, and McCain in the same manner. Wake up American women, you have been played!

Dr. Dot   November 4th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

So tell me: what *DOES* the bible have to say about it? Thou Shalt Vote Republican? Thou shalt not saddle up with anyone other than The Party Of God(TM)? Chapter and verse, if you would, please. I'd be interested to see just what The Good Book has to say about US Presidential Elections.

(Personally, I'd be willing to wager that it says nothing about US Presidential elections, but I'll certainly admit my fault if there is one. I won't hold my breath, however)

Jim   November 4th, 2008 11:14 pm ET

America doesn't leave a fight until its finished but obviously the democrats can't get that in there fricken heads.

The Keeper of the Flame   November 4th, 2008 11:12 pm ET

Dear tedious898,

Do you all really think McCain is evil? Both Obama and McCain truly want what is best for America. McCain didn't do this for the money. He ran for president out of love for his country – just like Obama.
I truly like Obama and I think he is a good guy – BUT I didn't vote for him. Why? Because we have just become a one party country – we have lost the checks and balances, we need in order to make smart decisions.

Congrats to obama. Muslims took down the twin towers and now they have taken over the white house. I guess its not enough that our brave men and women are sacrificing themselves to defend us from these "peaceful" people that blow themselves and each other up and have websites out that run 24/7 showing american soldiers being blown up or shot up. Thanks to all you liberal who voted obama and for spitting in the faces of those who sacrificed their lives in the war on terrorism.

However, when I wake up in the morning, the sky will still be blue, I will still have to go to work, pay taxes, and fight like hell to have something worth having in life. I think that Obama will be a positive change, but nothing will ever replace our need for personal responsibility and self-reliability in America. NOBODY takes care of you as well as YOU do!

Dole lost because of that Godless thing of hers. Palin lost because she is not qualified to run for this job. These women are not right for the job. We need women to run for office with morals, integrity and take the high ground. The Republican brand has been branded as overly white, not inclusive, uneducated...when did it become ok to not value intelligence??, racist (KKK and skinheads are christian too), ignorant and superstitious.
That brand is not being bought now.
I wanted a better life taking the higher ground, being inclusive, intelligent, and wanting to play well with others.
Thank God Obama has been elected. I am so proud of this country and so grateful and so willing to help.

Gary   November 4th, 2008 11:03 pm ET

Senator Obama has run a well organized and planned campaign and the White House is a fitting place for him. He will make an excellent president, he is the only candidate that has reached out to all Americans. It's time we unify this country and Obama is that man. We have a Senate Majority once again and well on the way to a House majority. Well done Democrats, Well done Obama and Joe B.

I for one do not understand projecting a winner in these states when only 2% or 30% or precincts have reported. I thought all votes had to count and california and other western states polls havent even closed yet so why do I get the feeling americans are screwed no matter which way we vote and that those other votes dont count when the media is calling a winner before the polls are closed and what about provisional ballots and absentee ballots? Something STINKS!!! I think we ought to get rid of the electoral college and go with the popular vote, it seems to me that would be much more fair and what the people truly want kinda like the college poll system for football that sucks too.!!

Tonya   November 4th, 2008 11:02 pm ET

I will also urge you all to be respectful of our outgoing president, and stop the negativity!
We are all American's let's pull together

Rae   November 4th, 2008 11:02 pm ET

This reminds me of Israel in the Bible, the people wanted a King instead of God over them. They got what they wanted. King Saul. It was disaster after that. I guess God has given the people just what they wanted. Obama. It is only downhill from here. So, yes, this is Gods will and also Gods judgement..I pray your ready, because you will see things that you thought you would never see in America! Change is coming and it is not going to be good change. But, remember when everyone cries out for Obama and this Nation starts careening in a downward spiral. God gave you just what you wanted. You will have only yourselves to blame.

We all knew change was coming. We need to embrace change and face our wars, global warming, and the issues that will test our strength in a much deeper way than this election. To the idiots cheering on tonight.

I hope you really realize what you have done.

You've elected a reverse racist, a coward who sat in a pew and did nothing for 20 years while hate was spewed. But he, like many of you, never would really serve this country. A guy who befriends and hires as advisers some of the worst anti-Semites and America haters in any Presidential team.

Ronald Reagan, no, make that Abe Lincoln, is turning over in his grave.

And flower children, tell me, who will want to serve in our armed forces now, when their commander-in-chief is a coward who would appease our enemies? Kindly tell me.

I can tell you this.

Osama, Ahmedinejedad and Putin are laughing their heads off at the weak Americans whom 8 years after 9/11 are willing to surrender to them. Because that was YOUR choice.

I just hope we can survive the next 4 years under this piece of manure. God Help America.

Amy   November 4th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

I agree with the poster, as a former Republican, now an Independent, Republicans will not take a loss lying down. Don't expect ANY Republican gun owner to give up their guns, or accept any socialism without a fight. Republicans will re-group and start putting Republicans and third party candidates in local positions. They have four years to fight, and fight they will. This country is on a down hill slide into Socialism/facism, and marks a depressing turning point for this once great country. It's pretty sad that Obama may win this thing. I didn't vote for him, and never would. Frankly, it's not a race thing with me, it's a credibility issue. He's deceitful, and unAmerican.
We definitely need to pray for our nation. We will no longer be a force to be reckoned with, but a patsy serving the United Nations. We are officially pathetic.

Isaac   November 4th, 2008 11:00 pm ET

I won't say it is over until the last ballot is counted.

The world is watching with a careful eye to see if
we, as a country, can embrace a man who looks,
walks and talks unlike any before him.

Taxes will come, new agendas wil arise, and our view
on the world stage will be much brighter!!!!

Hopefully, as a nation we can come together and put
to rest all the divisiveness.

Yes President Obama, please bring home our men and women and have them actually protect the USA. Oh yes, and as far as the taxes, please tax the people who make more money and understand that they are way more able to survive on their incomes. Also, please tax the huge coporations. Bring jobs back to the US by eliminating outsourcing by taxing the companies who choose to do it – maybe then we can even understand what is being said to us on the phone. What a novel concept.

it's about time for a real change and hear it's come obama congrats on the win as for mccain it was a nice run suck it up as a loss and make way for change

Independent   November 4th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

WOW!!! When McCain makes it through this with an upset, he should fire his aides. They are so pessimistic.

America seems to not care about issues as much as they think because Obama is in the lead and it looks like the person with the most money and the best smile is winning this one.

Forget experience – oh well...it'll be cycle just like how the Democrats controlled prior to Reagan and looked what happened. Americans in general need to away from Democrat / Republican mentality and pick who is best for OUR country.

bc   November 4th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

It's a shame. We're all going to get a healthy dose of what the voters have asked for. Let's all pray that the country can recover from this in our lifetimes. Shame on the media for perpetuating the lies put out by our now future president.

shane US Army vet   November 4th, 2008 10:57 pm ET

now you liberals can send all of us veterans and conservative people to the "re education camps" . We should rename D. C. Obamagrad. Congrats to Obama our candidate sucked and he had it easy. Where have the real conservatives gone? You are all welcome that guys like me gave us the rights we have today. Freedom isnt free dont forget that.

You wont see Mc cain in 4 years, he will be way to old. Obamas will be a great Prez, but I hope nothing happens to have Bindon step up.

Skyline   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Sad for McCain, but he showed his lack of judgement when he either picked Palin or allowed her to be picked. He fell in love with her as did a lot of the old guys in the Republican party and they made the whole campaign look ridiculous. Then they got duped by the phony Joe the Plumber, who doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, and tried to make him into a saint.

However, good for Obama, and in the long run I think it's best for the U.S. to have a young intelligent president who is willing to talk to and work with others.

John   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

As a soldier who served this great nation in Iraq i would just like tosay that when obama was touring Afghanistan and Iraq he didn't care one bit about the soldiers he was just there to get his publicity and that was it. There are numerous times he blew off soldiers. Is that the kind of man we need to run our armed forces? Hell NO!!!!! Hey the best part is when something bad happens no one can blame the republican party because the democrats will be running everything. Thats to bad. May GOD help us.

easynow   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

easy everyone, this was a close race and either candidates will have their hands full when they get the the White House. Like it or not, the people have spoken and now we get to either enjoy or suffer through. Just hang on and pray.

Rudy   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Based on the results so far, this becomes a very sad day for America. I was honestly hoping that America was intelligent enough not to sell out to the liberals and those who would sell this country down the drain.

Yes, it's true that we survived the Bill Clinton years okay. But these are far more perilous times now–and to put this self-avowed pacifist, who wants us out of Iraq and abdicate our responsibilities to keep Muslim extremists off our soil is pretty bleak.

People seem to forget that Obama was raised as a Muslim. Anyone who thinks that he won't sell out to them, responding to his own upbringing, is delusional. God Help The U. S. A. She's going to need it now!

Simon   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Just look at the video images of the pending victory parties. The McCain party is 100% white. The Obama party is a true mix of Americans. This is why McCain is gonna lose. The Republican Party has a LOT of work to do to attract non-white voters.

David   November 4th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Say hello to our welfare state...yippie...now 'The One' will pay my morgage and my car bill and maybe child care. I cant wait to not have any responsibilities. I cant wait for jobs to be cut because of higher taxes...oh but wait the ones who dont pay taxes will get a rebate, awesome. Maybe I should quit my job and just wait for 'The One' to take care of everything.

The great Martin Luther King said he looked forward to a day that a man is not juged by the color of his skin, but the content of his character. Well, it seems as though we will have to keep waiting.
I'm afraid we have elected a BIRACIAL president (not black) all for race, not the content of his character. I guess we have a long way to go America-how sad.

From The Other Side of the World   November 4th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

What makes you think that either of the parties are going to pull the USA out of the mess ou are in, and in promising cuts in anything from tax to spending by either candidate will only increase the financial and social issues the USA has. I would have a prefered oth candidates to have focused on the economy and the state of the nation in the first instance rather than talking about external affairs such as the Wars/police actions currently being effected, as this is where the USA will crumble. I do not share the enthusiasum for either of the caddidates, but when one talks about changing america and then the world, I do have to worry about ego and ability to deliver

K. Davis   November 4th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

My President is black!!! This is truely the best birthday present!

Lori from VA   November 4th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

We'll see what Obama does for the economy. That will change people's opinions of him for sure. Raising taxes will cause more businesses to downsize or close shop completely. That will cause unemployment to keep rising. People will be losing their homes, etc..., and what gets me the most is the people who were voting for the wrong reasons. Obama is inexperienced, and now with Congress over half democrat too: people, you have no clue what you've gotten yourselves into. Oh, one more thing: Obama can't pull the troops out of Iraq without Congress approving it: I don't see that happening real soon.

terri   November 4th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Yes, McCaine is to be respected. For me, it was not one issue (i.e. palin pick)... it was a variety of issues. The campaign as a whole was so poorly run from day 1 – they couldn't even put the appropriate pictures on the screen at the convention – that definitely foreshadowed the rest of the misgivings throughout the campaign; the whole idea of continuing the economy without changing what Bush put in place was questionable; and then the Palin punch.... was too much to reconcile.

former gop   November 4th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Two words – Ha! Ha!

That's what you get for choosing Palin.

Citizen J   November 4th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Allow me to thank John McCain for his service to this country, and also for the service he will perform until his Senate terms are completed. Also, I appreciate his candor throughout his campaign, and the tenacity for truly trying his best to make this country a better place.
Now, I would also like to thank John McCain for his lack of judgement in selecting an untried, and unknown V.P. candidate, and for hinging his campaign on a few moot points and arguments. You did this country a service by showing that when your back was to the wall, all you could resort to was trying to fling mud in a desert. You also did us a service by allowing us the pleasure in having Barack Obama as President of the United States of America.

MICHELLE   November 4th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

OBAMA....MCCAIN PLEASE DONT WIN...PLEASE YOU WILL MAKE THIS WORLD WORSER FOR US...PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR HIM IS MOST LIKELY RICHER......PLEASE DROP OUT THE RACE

vic   November 4th, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Somebody tell Fox News that their hate campaign against Obama backfired!!!!!

Debbie Simler-Goff   November 4th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

If McCain had the full backing of his own party the outcome would have been different. I have been a lifelong Republican and I find it very sad for our country indeed that a war hero such as McCain who fought for my freedom and yours would be stabbed in the back by a 'high official of his own party'. How disappointing that my fellow Republicans are not sticking with him when his back's against the wall, but are quickly abandoning ship. McCain didn't have that choice when he was willing to give his life for this country's freedom. Shame on you, high official, who ever you are!

Debra   November 4th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Obama rocks! As a Democrat at one point I would have considered voting for McCain, but, Obama is clearly the superior candidate plus in the last 2 years McCain has become a Bush groupie. Then to add his selection of Sarah Palin, which was a clear move of desperation, and as a woman was insulted by her clear lack of presence for the position of vice-president. Barack Obama has given his campaign a lot of thought, had a plan and followed his plan, with change no doubt as necessary. He is such an intelligent and inspirational man. He and Michelle are a great pair and I have all the confidence in the world in him.

Braham Singh   November 4th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Time for McCain to make that call to Bush and let it rip.

If Obama runs this country half as well as he ran his campaign, we are in good hands. This was a disciplined, well thought out and organized campaign since day one! He has won this fair and square.
McCain's a good man but he pandered to the extreme right and it cost him both the moderate republicans as well as the swing voters. And selecting that woman as a VP was a huge blunder.
Better luck in 2012!

Chris   November 4th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

The rest of the world breaths a sigh of relief to see your half wit President about to leave office. McCain would have been much better but Obama will do your country the world of good internationally. Good luck America.

Lincoln wouldn't have won for the republicans in this election. Shoot John Kerry may have even won tonight for the democrats.

Be interesting to see what the democrats do. I bet a big correction in 2 years for republican house and senate.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Yes tax increases for the people earning over 250,000$, how exactly is that a bad thing?! why is every republican focusing on that being an issue, its about time. Go Obama, 100 times better than a grumpy old bitter man and his plank.

nowhopeless   November 4th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

I hope all the Dems are happy now and will be in another few yrs when their president "comes through" for them. I hope there won't be road side abortion clinics and happy homo wedding chapels at every exit.

vic   November 4th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Tell John McCain and Sarah Palin that their campaign of hate and lies and fearmongering is what lost the election for them.
They lost thousands of votes because of their campaign....they also lost the respect of many people.
And teaming up with that silly joe the plumber was the biggest mistake! John McCain made a complete fool of himself and now he's paying for it.
And Sara Palin may as well go back to Alaska – her name is MUDD, and her lies and attacks on Obama backfired big time.

Joel from NYC   November 4th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

Congrats to Obama and the Dems. Of course, Obama cannot save all those industrial jobs in the Midwest, and cannot reduce debt by raising taxes on job creators while increasing entitlement spending, and will, with Pelosi, move this country much farther to the left than anyone wants, but it's a nice night for him. Will 2010 become another 1994? I suppose that will be the next thing to think about, once all the disillusionment and disappointment inevitably sets in.

gl, Pittsburgh   November 4th, 2008 10:52 pm ET

This is why their should be a qualification rather than registration to become a voter.

He lost the day he picked her, and had he picked the right person,
and not kept yelping about the economy is strong, he would have gave
Brack a run for the money as it turned out, we are here for the next 8 years, Christams came early for the next 8 years, not that I am mad, but after having the last two elections stolen, its only right. and to all you people who told me the obama was a muslim all I have to say is
so what, this country was founded on religious freedom, as long as he does the right thing and brings the USA together, then what does it matter, Marry Christmas everone, and a Happy New Year,,,,

Why on earth would anyone from either campaign say something like that? This does not sound very credible. "A senior level GOP official"... CNN should report the news not the heresay and rumor.

Joe the Plumber should go back to work now. He can't count on going to the White House with McCain. I had long ago gotten sick of the constant reference to him. What made him think he knew anything about politics. Go back to work, Joe.

gl, Pittsburgh   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Although I'm thrilled about Senator Obama – I feel sad for John McCain. I do respect him for his service to our country and I'm sure he is a decent man.

I agree as well. I wish McCain what have ran his campaign they way he ran it in 2000. Those far right wing nuts lose this election for McCain. McCain have a good sense of humor and he should have ran his onw campaign and not allow the far right wing nuts to have taken over.

Diane from El Paso   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Hopefully this democratic president can keep his hands off the interns!

Glenn, New York, NY   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

This is the beginning of the end. Hang on to your gold. So long USA.....

Mark from NJ   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

McCain hasn't lost Ohio yet, don't count him out so early. Less than half the precincts have reported in, so it is possible that McCain still has a chance.

nate   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Thank you God and thank you America. I will sleep well tonite.

TJ   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Anna   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Don't let the door hit you on your way out!

Ryan in Omaha   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

I would have felt bad for McCain but his whole campaign was nasty and disrespectful. I felt MUCH worse for him in 2000.

Frank   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Congrats to Obama and the Democrats!, but now it's time to unite regardless the party and the race, and rebuild the nation, and make it again the first economy in the world.

NCGirl03   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

The fact that a McCain/Palin advisor was on MSNBC about 2 hours ago telling Chris Mathews that he should be considered about Obama's health care, tax and other major issues speaks volumes.

For 8 years the high profile Republicans ran their campaigns with fear of gays, guns and God. Obviously from the remarks earlier on MSNBC they haven't let go.

It is time to loosen the grip of fear and walk in hope. Hope for a better day and faith in God.

linda from South Dakota   November 4th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

nice play mccain,, but republicans didnt get it this time,,,,,,,, now its our turn,,,, oh yeaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!! obama/biden... 08 and wayyy beyond

Mary   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Joe the Plumber should start going back to work now. He can't count on going to the White House with McCain. I had long ago gotten sick of the constant reference to him. What made him think he knew anything about politics. Go back to work, Joe.

hans   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

it's not over until it's over, and don't count your chickens before they hatch. Bushs' famous line was "mission accomplished" lets not make the same mistake.

michele   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Fools. Time to move to Canada, before the US goes completely downhill under Obama.

Alicia   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

I am so RELIEVED!!!! Thank God!

Farrell, Houston, Tx   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Poor judgement on McCain's part and thank God it was stopped before it went any further, it went too far as it is.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

John McCain you gave it your all. I am sorry you are not my president. I will hope the Senator Obama will either help or country and if not then I will vote for Change the next election with our Republican Candidate.
God Bless you!!!!

Pete   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Ohio went for Bush both times– and the GOP ignored the needs of the Buckeye state.

Let that be a lesson to all....

Dashana Hamilton   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

I dont think he has a chance either. I think the people are tired of dishonest campaigns and McCain's campaign has been nothing but that. Dishonest and pure evil toward Barack Obama.

Man With Hat from WA   November 4th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

McCain i really want to be so sooooooooo happy with joy (and i am) but a small part of me feels bad for you (just a small part). You really tried although you were nasty and out of touch with what real people wanted. Plus........you picked scary Palin. So McCain im sorry but but anew begins for our nation. GOD BLESS AN GOODNIGHT

Good fight, McCain.

=)   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Yes!!!! Finally, some substantial proof!

Rick from RI   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Bush dug this grave for McCain, just like Clinton did for Gore. When they talk about smug Americans, they talked about Bush, he was an absolute disgusting president who ruled with secrecy. Even his own Sec of State, Powell denounced McCain and went with Obama, that was a coup for Obama, as personally I don't think Obama has a clue but the world was fed up with "The Shadow Man" george Bush. Let's hope Obama gets a clue real quick

Wicked Willie   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

It looks like the people have bought all the flash and trash. Looks like Osama Obama will pull it off.

String   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Looking good, but I am not counting my chickens yet.

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE, VOTE A STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC TICKET!   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Finally, McCrypt and I agree on one point, we both have Obama "right where we want him"!!!

There are a some of words I hope to never hear again."surge", "maverick","pork", "PUMA", and any word ending in "ing" where the "G" is not pronounced!

And I will start a petition to ban the use of these two words in conjuntion, "my" and "friends"!

A personal request, to the Reptilian Party, please run what's her name again in 2012.

Pretty please!

Also, someone notify the half-wit that “God’s will has been done” for America!!!

DANCE PARTY

Nicki   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Get ready... the next four years are going to be rough. If anyone thinks republicans are going to just roll over and be the portrait of cooperation and support they are dead wrong. Obama stands for everything they hate and fear and they are not going to let us forget it.

In Canada   November 4th, 2008 10:46 pm ET

Vanessa   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

It is so amazing to watch such a positive campaign and candidate win and to watch such a negative, divisive, hateful campaign and candidates loose – and loose badly. Hopefully, democrats and republicans will learn from this election and future campaigns will be run on issues and not on innuendos.

Llisa   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

The people have spoken,

Good bye McCain! Time for you to settle into your twilight years enjoy your 20 houses, and enjoy the fact that you can pay all of your mortgages, never have to worry about your next meal, your retirement check or how you will send your kids to college...Life is still very fair for you.

Good bye Sarah Palin, so glad you will not be close to my Constitution, back to moose-country with your tail! You were an insult and a pathetic, scary joke! It's important to admit at some point when you are in over your head...

I'm going to bed now to rest more peacefully than I have in a long time!

Tonya   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

It's not over yet!

barry   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Thank you for voting...that's the most important thing

Rupert Burton   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Hi Tara; I hope you write back-I'm a registered Democrat, but I never vote straight party...Obama got my vote because of his attitude toward the current economic conditions. Was it "the lesser of two evils'? Maybe, but looking at the big picture, the economy (and each candidate's view of it) was, to me, the most important issue. Thanks for reading this, and I think with McCain missing Ohio-it's gonna be tough! see ya on CNN.

In Prayer for our country   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

I hope and pray that none of your loved ones are caught in the coming attacks that will surely happen on American Soil now that we have elected a weak leader as head of what was once the greatest country in the world.

The Keeper of the Flame   November 4th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Yes, America has voted for change. BUT CHANGE TO WHAT? High taxes and defense cuts? That is always good for the economy.

We're on our way to being a second rate country. But don't worry Obama will go talk to the Iranians and Al Queda – that'll work.
