From

(CNN) - A judge ruled in favor of the New Hampshire State Republican party today in a lawsuit that alleged some GOP election observers were prevented from monitoring same day voter registrations. "We are not alleging any malfeasance today," said Fergus Cullen , Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party. "The ability to observe some same day registration process was denied by individual polling stations." Cullen told CNN the judge ruled quickly in their favor.

Superior Court Judge Gillian Abramson ruled that poll observers should be situated in an area where they can "meaningfully see and hear each voter."

Matt Normand, Deputy City Clerk for Manchester, New Hampshire, pointed out there are privacy issues surrounding access to voter registration tables because sensitive material- such as social security numbers and driver's license could be compromised.

It is simple, the GOP observers should be standing next to the democratic observers.

Peter   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

There is little doubt that both parties take measures too far to try to "help" their candidates. I've voted both sides and in my opinion, recently, it seems the Republicans are leading in that category. My only concern is that this election will be decided not on who we as a country think will do the best job, but instead on a hatred of the "other" . How does that really help anyone?

Chris   November 4th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

I guess it is okay if the "activist" judges side with republicans. There's no need for them to be up in the face of new registrants except to intimidate and we are seeing this type of pattern all over the country.

tim   November 4th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

the problem is their are so many undercover racist in this country and more than half didn't realize it till a black was running for office

Opened eyes   November 4th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

idiocracy breeds idiocracy.until we learn to come together as a people and see our neighbor for who they are and not what they are.we will continue to be pawns in the political game of chess, with the government telling us what we want and need.
they say our vote counts.they say our voice matters.did they hear our voices on the bailout of Wallstreet?did our voices count? I think
not. Since the unfolding of this election,i am talking before mc cain was on the radar...i said they would put him in...no matter what the people vote...they will put him in. I know..
let us be clear...obama has made it this far only to give the impression that america is united and past the issue of race.i wish that were the case. Take a moment to look around.really pay attention.america is not united,it is undercover.you say,i am not a racist.till it comes to dinner and next your telling your daughter she cant see him anymore. I have been at that table, and have to say my last dinner. My daughter is the change obama is fighting for

CClark   November 4th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Steal an election you say? RepubliCANTS should know all about that....remember 2000? Look where that got us. Typical Republican pointing fingers to take the heat of their own lies and misdoings. You guys need to find something else to do than cheating the American people.

brandx   November 4th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

Well said in NH.

tonya griffin   November 4th, 2008 7:32 pm ET

stevieRay – It's funny how you can make racial slanders about what the think black panthers have done, and how that is "typical". Typical for who? The ignorance of people come out clear in your comment. Because it is a "black group" it's typical, there are a lot of black people supporting McCain. What would you call them? What about the threats made to Obama? do you think that is typical? It's time to get off the color boat- this is 2008 let's look at the best canidate not your favorite color. God help us

Thomas Baker   November 4th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Keep Gitmo open but CLOSE Kentucky. Deal?

Lisa   November 4th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

You can't steal what already belongs to you, Stevie Ray. Obama/Biden 08. Here's a penny....buy a clue.

Jen   November 4th, 2008 7:26 pm ET

It's only fair that both groups are represented.

in NH   November 4th, 2008 7:25 pm ET

Just for the record, it was a member of the republican party in NH that went to jail in 2004 for jamming the phones of the democratic party offices in 2004.

That would be the republicans cheating. And convicted, not rumored.

chuck   November 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

barbara makes me ashamed to be from NC...

independent ted   November 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

why would you care if both major parties want to observe that the rule of law is being followed unless you , yourself are cheating. i really doubt that the nj's , simone's , and , barbara's of the country would care if it was democrats that wanted to deny military overseas votes from counting in virginia. oh that's right , they are , and you don't.

Mz Leah   November 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

I could put a grapefruit in a suit and place it in the Oval Office & it would probably be more productive than Bush-oops McCain.

brandx   November 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

The gop can't win anything with dirty tricks. What a sorry bunch of losers.Get 'em Obama!

Michael   November 4th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

wow going all the way to JFK when GWB was just 8 years ago. hmmmmmmmmmmm

Simone   November 4th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Why are there comments of Black panthers on here and intimidation you have used intimation for Years! Centuries to sway votes. why must we get ugly and mean. Those comments are so typical of George Bush and McCain it's sad, ignorant and pathetic

Bob   November 4th, 2008 7:20 pm ET

Which part of this article was so hard to understand? The GOP observers are trying to make sure that the ACORN-type fiascos can't happen in New Hampshire. Anyone trying to defend the poll workers that prevented this is nuts! The poll workers, under the guise of 'privacy' would have been in a position to allow fraudulent registration, and after what I witnessed in my own polling place today (a vision impaired poll worker who asked me to spell my common name 3 times, newspapers opened to clear campaign material inside the polling place, and poll workers having to be instructed more than halfway through the day on what was acceptable ID for a provisional ballot) the competence of poll workers in general, and the ability of the general public to expect them to run a fair election, is questionable at best and a laughing stock at worst.

Gary   November 4th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

It is the media who decided this election. Voters cast their votes according to the brainwashing of over 2,000 reporters who favored Obama over McCain. The media can now claim they influenced at least 25% of the vote. This is enough to swing an election. I like the way the media predicted Obama to win so this would discourage voters to vote for McCain. Thinking, why go vote Obama has already won. The media in this election was biased and it was obvious.

Gary in Vancouver   November 4th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

Well, are the Republicans whining because they think that some of the voters that got the "Democrats are scheduled to vote the day after Republicans" phone calls were actually smart enough to realize that the Republicans will do anything to win an election.

They have tried just about every underhanded illegal trick to make sure some Democrats can't vote or miss the vote that they honestly don't deserve to win. If I ever had an observer think that he or she is going to stand over my shoulder while I vote, I hope that they would have that "red" meat steak handy for the black and blue around their eye sockets.

I have voted for both parties and the only party that I consistently hear about trying to deceive the other party is the Republicans. I honestly hope that they lose every race. How else will they ever learn? The jerks and criminals in that party make the good Republican lawmakers suffer an unbearable fate. You do get what you deserve.

Repubs ahead, 2-1; does this tie it up in your books?

nepacific   November 4th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

From reading the brief story, it sounds as if Speider is going overboard. It doesn't sound as if anyone was trying to impede the process, just that people disagreed as to the best way to conduct the process fairly. It's too bad the clerks couldn't figure out a better way of dealing with the problem, but it's good that the judge was able to rule correctly quickly. Election observers from the competing parties are very important, to make sure everything is fair. Congratulations to everyone who voted, and to everyone who helped conduct the process.

Rob   November 4th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

It seems CNN has turned into a hugr propaganda machine for the Liberal leftists, since when has American Media and Hollywood Icons been a tool for our political process....SEems like State Run Television in the MiddleEast to me...I don;t live in the US but it is truly scary to watch the media playing such a art in getting their horse to come in first....Seems like an "Unbiased Media" is something of the past!!!!!! It's a pity....

John J Martinez   November 4th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Intimidation, that is all they are interested in.

MD   November 4th, 2008 7:14 pm ET

Barbara, did you even read the story? Democrats sought to keep Republican monitors 40 feet from the new registrations because they are the minority party. They found a braindead judge who agreed. The decision was reversed by someone who isn't a complete retard, but the damage was done. "Typical Republicans" fighting against the idiotic leftist tactics.

Gloria   November 4th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Shame on that Judge... this is just so wrong!!!!

stevieRay   November 4th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

It's amazing we've been having elections for over two hundred years and we're still not spinning like a top.

It's amazing the Black Panthers are getting away with intimidation in Philly, though not unexpected.

The Democrats are trying to steal this election.

Mike   November 4th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

Barbara-it was the Republicans that were being discriminated against.Typical liberal reaction!

Mike   November 4th, 2008 7:11 pm ET

You people are idiots. You say the Republicans are cheating–rules are rules–and if not followed, then what....Barabara–typical Demoscat–do whatever to win–no matter if it breaks the rules

Tubby The Tuba   November 4th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

Typical republican manuever. Speaks volumes about the republican party...sooooo unpatriotic!! Legal stealing of votes! Ain't America great!

Hammy Pride   November 4th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

NH has a long standing history of Conservative Voter Fraud, include the famous phone jamming in 2004. ACORN has nothing on the NH GOP.

JackH   November 4th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

Uh, it looks like the DUMocrats were trying to cheat and hide something.

DUMOcrats are notorious, not the GOP, for shady elections.

Remember JFK

Amen Speider....it's time to frog march these false patriots down to Gitmo

nj   November 4th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

disgrace

Simone   November 4th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Seems like they are starting the cheat already

Speider   November 4th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Those who have attempted to stop or impede the voting process, not only does an injustice to millions who fought and died for our freedoms to vote, they are breaking the law and be they democrat, republican or independent, they must be caught and prosecuted to the FULL extent of the law. This is unacceptable in America.

Barbara in NC   November 4th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Typical republicans. NO MORE – NOT THIS TIME

Obama/Biden
