McCain you are a true American Hero and should have been our President! Life is full of signs of the times and this is just another big one that the bible speaks of! Let us not forget where we come from and what this great country was founded on! McCain, you are so loved and God be with you and our nation!

Again let me quickly remind those who are not in favour of Obama that at least they can not deny the fact that Obama knows those who can make things happen;he has the right guyies around him and knows who can fix what. That is commendable and that is a good sign of Administrative accumen. At least Powel knows that. Talk about expert approval of a good Administrator to effect the change we need at this time in the world. He is not just THE ONE,he is the CHOSEN ONE.

McCain shot himself in the foot when he picked Palin for his running mate. Although I thought I might vote Republican in the beginning, that all changed when he picked her. America is too smart to vote for a pretty face that does great on SNL but knows nothing about running a country. I hope that eveyone listens to what McCain had to say in his speech tonight. It shows that he really understands America. It's time we work together and bring our great country back.

Am happy for America for voting everybody's own. Obama is in touch and an INTERCONTINENTAL figure. He is approved by God and man. The curcumstances that led to his victory are self evident and he didn't create them. This is the time for an opportuned African to rule the world. America will enjoy wealth and good name and great reputation in the eyes of all. Obama enjoys goodwill from his people and he will not fail because he will soon be announced as the President of God's Own Country. We are praying for him. He will not fail.

Congratulations!! President Obama & Biden.
Congratulations too!!! - America.

You have proved to the world as a people that majority still believe in decent political campaigns and have shunned the deceitful-negative campaign by McCain/Palin

Its a sigh of relief for the REST of the WORLD...that OBAMA is the next US President.

you know its funny everyone said this election was not about race yet race seems to be everyones main point to focus on. i hope, your sake and this country's sake, you voted for obama based off of more then the fact he is a black man. there are plenty of black men more qualified to run this country, more black men and woman who have a better track record.

As a Canadian, I was shocked when Bush was elected, then re-elected again in spite of his shortcomings (to put it nicely).

I would be even more shocked to see the same mistake repeated with McCain/Palin. It seems McCain cannot even take the time to thoughtfully select a good, or even competent running mate. I am not an Obama supporter, but I could never get behind McCain's clear lack of good judgement.

I think Obama is the lesser of two evils though, so hopefully he turns out to be a good president..

I agree that Bush made some bad calls....look at his approval rating...but we just elected someone with Zero experience. Shall I repeat "ZERO experience"...All Obama did was say smooth things and catch phrases and buzz words...what does he really stand for? He is a politician...with virtually no record...they all are politicians.... they say what you want to hear...Obama was just better than McCain at talking the talk... my question is can America afford the mistakes if he can't walk the walk???

"I will thank God when Obama wins because I won't have my Medicare cut and Social Security money that I worked for all my life. . . ."

Dearest Helena (that's my Mom's name, by the way):

I think you might want to take a very close look at both the current and near-future status of both the Medicare and the Social Security funds. I think you might be in for a bit of a shock.

Sorry.

God is in control always whoever wakes up as new prez on Nov 5th. Be kind to each other. Pointing fingers, placing blame & bragging tend to come back in one's face. What comes around goes around. Let respect be our personal goal

im neither white nor black but i have seen one thing in this country of ours the only color issue is within the races who consider themselves minorities. look around there are no more minorities in this country. there are no more segregation it is not harder for one race over the other. each race has to work equally hard for what they want.
why do some people feel so injusticed.

i feel bad for the military people and the ones who have lost someone in iraq whether we agreed with the war or not, what did they die for now? nothing. another vietnam in the making, another gulf war. we went in for victory, and coming out with nothing. the servicemen and women are the real victims here.

I just hope and pray whoever eventually wins tonight that they will put God first and put this country back on track to be a God fearing nation that it started out to be in 1776. Otherwise we will be heading down a road to further decline and failure. No president democrat or republican can fix the economy. In a capitalist system the job creators (small business) eventually straightens out the economy not the politicians. However that does not keep them from promising to fix everything if elected.

It will be so exciting to finally move into the sphere of Socialism with many of the other countries in this continent. I'm looking forward being buddies with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez. It is so inspiring. I think I'll quit my job, file unemployment and see what other handouts I can collect. I wouldn't want be a traitor by actually working hard and being productive.

My congratulations Senator Obama, even though your not who I voted for. I just hope and pray that you hold your promises to us all. I fear a government where one particular party is in control of all the branches. I sincerely hope that you sir, hold Reid and Pelosie in check, and don't let them trample on our rights. I will hold you to your policy of change, I hope to God its for the better.

I will know what my childrens future holds, when I watch the news in the morning. If your supporters act like the crowds do who celebrate a sports teams victory, or loss, then I will know what the next 4 years hold for me and mine.

I'm in agreement that Palin needs to return to Alaska, but I would rather her just be quiet. She has brought more hate to America in her few weeks in the spotlight than I have seen in over 45 years and there is no room for anymore hate in this country.
We should all be thankful that we live in a country where we have a choice and a voice. We all have different beliefs, different needs and different stories that determine who we vote for and no one should be condemned for their choice---that is what makes us Americans and different from the rest of the world.
And for those who do not believe in freedom of choice for all Americans, there are no laws preventing you from moving to another country and changing your citizenship.

This is a comment for the news & media, PLEASE STOP using the "african american" term already!
You are either a citizen of Africa, or of America!
Next we will be hearing Mexican American, Chinese American, Canadian American, etc.
I thought we were all just "American" ?

Any man who can seduce and marry a woman as bright, articulate, funny decent and beautiful as Michelle Obama has to be a great man. And he is. He'll be a great President. And poor John McCain, he showed such a lack of judgment by picking Sarah Palin as his running mate that it was a bit scary to envision him at the White House.

Thanks, fellow Americains, for knowing the way to a better world when you se it.

I really can't believe the hatred being stated by so many people. The young people today are really different from when I was young. There is such a lack of basic human respect for other people. It is very sad. This election has polarized the country more than ever before in my lifetime.

The election might be over, but the country's problem still has to be tackled. Will see what the winner can do to improve our economy. It's not time to celebrate yet, because the four years ahead is when the leadership will be proven. Let's all pray for those who win and those who lost the election. Every candidate has something to offer for this country. Their ideas might not be the same but this is the beauty of democracy. The people has the chance to decide for themselves who can best serve their agenda or ambition. Leaders can lined up their best ideas and surround themselve with best advisors but the ultimate decision is the will of God. Natural calamities do happen like 9/11. Did we see it ahead of time, no. Let's just hope that we don't have this kind of disaster for the next four years. God bless...

Whoever wins we still lose, my friends. Why? If we're so ignorant as to treat the election like its some kind of football game, how can we justify being the world's superpower? The rest of the world's growing up while we act like a bunch of football hooligans. Its going to take a LOT more than a new president to fix that.

but "sick of it" - remember and never forget what US whites did to the black americans culture for over 300 years. This is such a critical moment in US History! Why do they have the problems in their society?! Yes, it IS because of the white Americans!

1. This is amazing!
2. Dem president and congress are not necessarily on the same team.
3. Change is GOOD. I know it is scary to think things could change, but they are - in honest summation - not going very well right not in the U.S., due in no small part to Bush's 8 years of silliness.
4. Thanks, foreigners, for the congratulations. See, the majority of Americans see humans as all deserving of the best things, but it is so hard to get past hatred and greed. I think we may have taken a step there though!

Right/Left/Liberal/conservative... We ALL have some of each of these in us. It is the political parties that try to corrall us into these boxes so they can count us as on their side.

Remember:
Every sane person sees themselves as being middle of the road because there is always someone worse on each side.

Normal is just the average of all of us.

Everyone is someones else's weirdo.

We are all part of The United States and that is what we should be working to make better... not the parties.

You guys have made the worst mistake this country has ever seen. By electing Obama, you have let corruption enter the White House doors on a pedestal. I am very disappointed in every American that voted for Obama. Obviously they must want higher taxes, lose their jobs from these higher taxes, and increase spending by nearly a trillion dollars.

McCain or Obama, two fine Americans and the winner deserves our support. We've heard enough name calling throughout the prelims and now the finals. McCain's choice for VP a big mistake

How many people tonight have said they are NOW proud or happy with the USA because we possibly elected a Black Man? I have absolutely no problem that a black man may be elected I have a problem that so many people see that as THE issue. If you are happy that Obama may be elected be happy because of WHO he is and WHAT he will do, not BECAUSE he is black. That honestly has nothing to do with if he is or is not good for this country, how he will lead the country or his policy. It is like saying when Kennedy was elected, " I am so proud to be an America because they elected a Catholic", or "I am proud of America because they elected a Catholic". It is ridiculous a man should be based on his merit and what he will do for the country. Race, age, sex or religion should have nothing to do with it and as long as people on either side make it an issue their will be racism.

To everyone who says "America will get what it deserves" - give me a break. Wake up and smell the coffee that Bush and the republicans have ALREADY run the country into the ground. Are you serious? Were you seriously unaware of that fact?

Obama will turn things around. There are no losers here, we all won this time, its just that 49% of people don't realize that yet.

Tonight means many things to a lot of people and I am one of them but one of the most meaningful things to me is that this Obama win will signal the end of Barracuda Barbie for a few years. I will no longer have to endure the vile hate spewed from her mouth and all the "Winky Blinky" "Youbetcha"s" form that Moose hunter. Now she can go back to the frozen tundra of Alaska and fly around the state watching the First Dude winning snow machine races.

What happened to the country I grew up in? I am in my early 30’s and this is a sad day for America…. I am sad to say that Obama was elected by people my age and younger who can’t figure out how which way is up and focus more on their virtual reality than what really matters. They can’t get themselves out of credit card debt for lack of discipline for buying non essential things. They can’t see the reality of the global economy except what directly affects them. Such a sad “me oriented” society…

I hope Obama is everything you want…only time will tell how he works his campaign promises into reality. Talk is cheap - so beyond all the well crafted speeches and smooth talking words let’s all hope he doesn’t take this country down hill and if he does then you get what you deserve. After all – he was put in power by an American majority of people who can’t see beyond their own nose…. Lord help us!
