(CNN) – Broken machines in Willingboro, New Jersey, have led to disruptions in voting, according to Joe Dugan, chairman of the Burlington County Election Board. Voters at Pennypacker Park Elemenary School have been given emergency paper ballots as a mechanic works on the machines, Dugan said. He added that he expects the machines to be up and running soon.

if you honestly believe that Republicans had anything to do with the broken machines, the Democrats have reached an all time low of displacing blame... first it's the Republican's fault that gas prices are so high (which is false), it's the Republican's fault that women can't chose to abort their full-term pregnancy and now this? Learn responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming us for everything, you can't rely on a government to get you out of your own mess.

Wow...my mother told me that the machines were broken...and I was shocked...only an hour in and the machines are broken?...but then again I shouldn't be surprised...
I vote that all states switch to voting by MAIL, as we do in Oregon!! No machines, no lines, no fraud in over 12 years of doing it this way! Are we so in debt to Diebold that we have to keep using their flawed machines that interfere with true democracy in voting?
It works, people. Forget early voting and long lines. Contact your state voting chief and push voting by mail. That's another real change we can believe in.
I hope the lawyers are in place monitoring what's going on. If these broke machines have slowed down the voting process, those poll hours should be extended by the same amount of downtime.

I have never seen a broke person pay 4 internet service @ home without job...who polled them? Or what about the people who have 2 work 2 jobs, just 2 have enough 2 pay the mortage? They R not voting N these polls. They R 2 busy and 2 tired and im sure not waisting money on payin 4 the internet...and now adays, most of us young people use cells. trudy- It's only gross negligence that the machines were not checked in time to fix any problems. It is NOT a plot to take over the world hatched by those that can spell english words and use proper english grammar.

Wow... This wreaks of conspiracy... We only need these machines on election day and within the first 30 minutes they are broke? If I lived in this community I would be demanding the Mayor or Govenor terminate the employment of the election commissioner who has the responsibility of ensuring these machines are working properly.

The answer is Diebold (now known as Premier Election Solutiions). Their CEO, Walden O'Dell, was active in the re-election efforts of Bush in 2004. 'Nuff said.

I don't buy it ... too many problems with voting machines. Other similar technology employed in all of our stores work flawlessly for years on end ... why not the voting machines?

It is long past time to throw all of these worthless voting machines into the Marianas Trench. Paper ballots are good enough for every other democracy, and they're good enough for America too.
Electronic voting machines are too easy to manipulate, period. At least with an ATM, you walk away with SOMETHING in your hand (cash, or at least a printed receipt) but with electronic voting machines… nothing.
Give me a voting machine as simple to operate as an ATM, one that matches numerically my printed ballot receipt to its digitally stored counterpart.
If our banking system can do it, so can our electoral system.
This is a shame. These people knew these machine wash't working. Why didn't they test them yesterday. Didn't they vote at that poll?
