Obama wins Ohio, CNN projects

(CNN) – Democrat Barack Obama is on target to win the critical battleground state of Ohio, CNN projects.

The projected victory makes it very difficult for Obama's rival John McCain to win the White House. No Republican has ever become president without winning Ohio.

Watch: Obama wins Ohio

Ohio is the first state that went for President Bush in 2004 but flipped to the Democratic column this year. No states that went Democratic in 2004 have yet gone for McCain.

The state's 20 electoral votes would bring Obama's total to 194, versus 69 for McCain. A candidate needs 270 to win.

CNN projections are based on exit polls and partial results.

To all of the Republicans predicting doom and gloom: you guys ran the works for the last eight years. Its time to give someone else a chance. That's the voting process in a Democratic Republic (and I'm not talking political parties).

All I can think of is Acorn and the media.
What would've happened if the media had supported both candidates equally and acorn wasn't a part of all this.
Is the result tainted? History will tell.

    @ Tony

We've suffered from uninformed unintelligent leadership and their devoted followers for the past 8 years.
Now step aside and quit hating while the smart folks fix the damage done by you rethugs.
Oh and by the way, until the rethug brand retools and becomes more "inclusive", you don't have a shot in h e double hockey stick of gathering more youth and minority vote. The party of the old stuffed shirts and fake Christian Conservative right is out.

I hope you can come together to help President Obama fix the global challenges we all face. I don't know if Americans know how close you've come to being left behind as dead weight as the rest of the planet moves into a whole new united effort. Obama was your best hope and dam good hope if I do say so! He's going to need all of you with him so I hope those who are dissappointed can show their patriotism by standing behind your President.

    Congratulations – Well Done!

No wonder, it will not be an easy presidency. Look what legacy Bush has left us with?
Obama will need all of America to reverse this Bush effect.

    Congrautualtions USA:

There is a tide in the affairs of men
    Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
    Or lose our ventures.
