Track the candidates as they crisscross the country.

(CNN) –- After months of rallies, speeches, diner visits and rope lines, the presidential campaign trail comes to an end Tuesday.

The candidates will cast their ballots, hold a few final events to meet voters on Election Day, and then await the outcome in nominees’ hometowns.

John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, will cast his ballot in Phoenix, Arizona. His schedule then places him in Grand Junction, Colorado, for a rally and an event in nearby Albuquerque, New Mexico.

President Bush won Colorado and New Mexico four years ago, but recent polls have shown Obama with an advantage there.

Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain’s running mate, will vote in Wasilla, Alaska, and then make her way to Arizona for the Republican Election Night party.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama plans on voting in Chicago, Illinois. He is then scheduled to visit Indianapolis, Indiana for an event.

The most recent CNN Poll of Polls in Indiana showed a tight race. McCain led Obama by 1-point, 47 percent to 46 percent. The polls were conducted October 26 through November 2.

Obama will return to Chicago for Election Night festivities.

Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, is expected to meet voters in Virginia on Tuesday.

A recent CNN Poll of Polls in Virginia showed Obama leading McCain by 5-points, 50 percent to 45 percent. The polls were conducted October 26 through November 2.

We are all Americans!

J*   November 4th, 2008 9:53 am ET

John McCain is weak on economics. Sarah is a pea brain with an IQ deficit, almost as scary as Bush with his Achilles brain. Obama is cerebral and calm. a model of how a leader should be. His running mate, Joe Biden, while exhibiting signs of verbal diarrhea, at least seems capable of performng his duties as a VP.
Whoever you Americans chose to rule your nation will make very little difference to your country's declining status in the world, however. The rise of China and India is inevitable. The days of Ameican hegemony are numbered.
My advice: lose some weight, re-educate yourselves and learn to work with the rest of the world with a little humility and grace!

Bye bye Johnny, be good! See ya, Sarah! Go Obama/ Biden. Reject the hate! Restore the intellectual integrity and respect of the USA. Count every vote!

MEP   November 4th, 2008 9:20 am ET

John McCain say what you will. The crowds lining up to vote and in the stands for Obama say it all.

Desmond Sequeira   November 4th, 2008 9:18 am ET

From a non-US citizen, not black or white or red or blue. Just very concerned for the USA and the world and therefore supports OBAMA/BIDEN. To-day most of the USA will prove whether it has a good God or one that spawns smear and fear.

Gloria - Minnesota   November 4th, 2008 9:10 am ET

I voted in Minnesota at 7:18 this morning, and I am proud to say I cast my ballot for Barack Obama and Joe Biden! I just pray that Americans realize the importance of taking our country in a new direction and give the Democratic ticket a chance to take the United States of America on the Road to Change!!

Yes We Can!

Go Obama/Biden '08!!!!

Beverly, NYC   November 4th, 2008 9:06 am ET

Don't know which excites me more,
A. Hearing President elect Obama said for the first time,
B. Not hearing Sarah Palin's voice for the next four years, or
C. Watching John McCain concede

Vote,Vote,Vote!   November 4th, 2008 8:59 am ET

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring. John Mc Cain, and Sarah Palin, everyone has a price but there is nothing you could do to sell me your ticket, nothing! Not even a new wardrobe, like Sarah's or giving me one of your 7 homes, and you labled Obama an elitist...shame on you old man Mc shame. Obama/Biden...yes, yes, yes!

Simmy   November 4th, 2008 8:59 am ET

I REST MY CASE!

OBAMA AND BIDEN – CHANGE IS COMING1

Tessmaria   November 4th, 2008 8:59 am ET

It'd be nice if just once...a nationwide media source could help the average American realize that the President cannot make most decisions on his/her own...they have to be approved by the other government officials we vote into office. In other words, next time someone wants to complain about the leader of this country, that person needs to look further than just that one person (i.e. who they voted for in their state elections as well). Our government is run by checks & balances...not a dictator.

tilahun muluneh   November 4th, 2008 8:52 am ET

i think a younger is better than the older please leave the stage for obama.

Francis   November 4th, 2008 8:45 am ET

Obama sure will truimpoh above Gop strongholds. Americans should expect a true change of ideals and direction from Barack. Mcain sure has great courage which when put to test can withstand great national turmoils but all in all Bush Policies remain paramount if the republicans trade this election for a win.Obama promises change and though this may not be easy yet THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE A DIFFERENCE. AMERICANS MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

GO OBAMA GO NIGERIANS SUPPORT U.

Larry   November 4th, 2008 8:44 am ET

Obama and company(acorn) winning–this is like the mafia and JFK stealing the election-Where ever there's Republicans, voting machines aren't working-I smell a rat!!!

anonymous   November 4th, 2008 8:43 am ET

How ridiculous of you .............WAKE UP PEOPLE
how can you vote for someone when there is a question IF HE IS EVEN AN AMERICAN CITIZEN?????
YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY NOT PUTTING YOUR COUNTRY FIRST
OBAMA DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SAVE JOBS OR SAVE YOU MONEY, HE'S ONLY GOING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND GIVE IT TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T DESERVE IT

Aaron from Ohio   November 4th, 2008 8:29 am ET

I watched election coverage most of the day yesterday. I saw McCain speaking in a heavily republican area in Florida before a thousand supporters. I saw Obama speaking in a heavily republican area in Virginia before over 70,000 people. This election is going to be a nail biter. It's going to go down to the wire. We're going to be up all night. The Beatles are getting back together.

R.L. Fry   November 4th, 2008 8:24 am ET

The economy, the war, gun control, equal rights, there are so many issues, and so few choices.
There is one issue, I will be voting on, that is who will be nominating the supreme court judges over the next 8 years.
Obama is right on many things he is saying, but what he will do if elected, in placing judges in our federal courts, with a house and senate that are in a extreme liberal majority.
That will change the face of our nation, for generations to come.
For me that is the only issue to vote on in this election.

Independent white female patriotic voter   November 4th, 2008 8:23 am ET

My prediction"Obama will sweep through many states becoming the 44th president of our great country"
Go Obama all the wya to the white house.

Republican for Obama   November 4th, 2008 8:21 am ET

I have voted Republican in every presidential election but I won’t be this time. I cannot vote for McCain because he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants and he cheated on his first wife. He was cheating on his first wife while he was married and had a child at home. This shows a lack of morals and family values. The most important role in a mans life is being a good father and he failed!!!! I realize Cindy was much younger, beautiful, and rich but McCain was selfish. He put himself ahead of his wife and child. McCain FIRST and FAMILY SECOND!!!! McCain was also a central figure in the savings and loan scandal that cost taxpayers billion of dollars. As far as I am concerned, McCain is just another slimy politician! The final nail in the coffin for me was the selection of the completely unqualified Sarah Palin. I agree with Colin Powell. I will be voting for Obama.

w.l. jones   November 4th, 2008 8:20 am ET

Anita   November 4th, 2008 8:09 am ET

I have voted in every presidential election for 30 years.

This is the most excited I have ever been. This is an historical election.

Everyone needs to go out and vote! I t's your American right!

My son is a soldier in the Air Force.

God Bless America!

vexalways   November 4th, 2008 8:03 am ET

If Obama is voted in today as President, then the trend where we only saw dunderheads in the White House would be severed. Senior and Junior Bush have made us all laughing stocks on the international stage. America now has no real friends; because of the Bush family. Now is the time for all that to change, there will be peace with Obama at the helm of this great Country.

Don't stay at home, be a part of history; VOTE OBAMA.

thomas   November 4th, 2008 8:02 am ET

At last this clumsily twisted process that we call an election comes to an end. We will call it fair even though the third party candidates were never given a voice or a platform to plead their case to the American people. We will believe that we elected the best candidate although neither candidate will be able to tell you how they improved America or how they advanced the cause of freedom and democracy. The voter's will select their president mostly based upon the candidates' sales pitch and media talking points, with little attention given to actual accomplishments. Once again, election financing will be hailed as a primary determinant factor in the selection process. And we wonder how we got where we are?

Lawrence Anazodo   November 4th, 2008 8:00 am ET

THE D DAY HAS COME. GOD HAS FINALY COME TO SAVE AMERICANS. WHAT IS GOOD FOR AMERICANS IS GOOD FOR AFRICANS.BROTHER OBOMA WE ARE COMING TO CELEBRATE WITH YOU. UP AMERICA, UP AFRICA, UP NIGERIA.

Bill   November 4th, 2008 7:50 am ET

Thank God it is almost over!
Go Bama

teresa   November 4th, 2008 7:50 am ET

Republicans and Bush's time is almost over, the adults are coming to take over.......Thank GOD
They tried to destroy our great nation, and they almost did, but we survived them and their childishness, it will take DECADES to fix their mess, but we can do it ... Together
I think EVERYONE in the U.S.A. should hug their children and spouses or significant others and their mothers and fathers too... We all survived the last 8 years ....
The Republicans have us in a lot of debt , 9 trillion or so ...
They sure love to spend and I think most them are men, go figure, anyways their 8 years of wasting our money is over
Our tax money should be spent on us.....
I cant imagine that.... that amount of money.....9 trillion, dang , but together our people and nation are unstoppable, we have done many amazing things in our history when we had to.

Is there any person in the USA, or the world for that matter, who actually has working brain cells and who isn't PRAYING big-time that Sarah Palin DOES NOT become a heartbeat away from the Presidency of the United States of America????!!

Dorothy from NC   November 4th, 2008 7:40 am ET

John McCain is a patriot and served honorably in the armed forces and we owe him alot for that and I respect him for that. But the statute of limitations should be over. He was a great soldier but that doesn't mean he would be a great president.

Barak Obama is our nations best hope to move the country forward……..to end the war and help rebuild our country with the 8 billion dollars a month we send to Iraq, to jumpstart our economy, to work towards not relying on foreign oil. to find a way to solve our healthcare crisis, and to win a place of respect and friendship with the countries of the world who either hate us or fear us now.

There are two important things to remember today. First is whichever candidate wins, half the people are not going to be happy and it is up to all of us to start to heal and come together. We ARE the United States of America. The second most important things is VOTE.

Obama Proud   November 4th, 2008 7:36 am ET

The Republicans and their hate mongering comes to an end today.

Jeff from Jersey   November 4th, 2008 7:33 am ET

IT'S GOING TO BE A LANDSLIDE FOR OBAMA.
TELL McCAIN TO GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Mike   November 4th, 2008 7:31 am ET

I watched the Saturday Night Live Election Special last night. It was pretty bi partisan and very funny. The only downer was the sleazy Republican attack AD with Rev. Wright. They just cannot help themselves.

carson   November 4th, 2008 7:29 am ET

hopefully soon to hear president obama...

Debbi   November 4th, 2008 7:23 am ET

BUSH and the REPUBLICANS fleecing of America is almost over .........
Wars will be over soon after that and the 10 billion a month they were spending over there should now be spent on Americans ....
Use that 10 Billion each month and target areas of countr, include everyone, but do it once a month , that way it goes out slowly and steady .... .
Some definately should go to citizens just like the last time, butttttttt the difference this time , it should be a lot larger.... Times have changed and in order to be effective the stimulous should be a lot larger........
And with the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan ending soon, you wouldnt be spending any NEW money .... It will just be redirected and spent HERE in the USA by Americans ..... and everyone should ONLY BUY AMERICAN MADE GOODS ........We need to get back to AMERICAN MADE .... imports should be taxed so they are even in cost with American made goods .....American made only ... Saves American jobs

Frank Scozzafava   November 4th, 2008 7:15 am ET

I'm in China right now for work and if Obama loses, I think I'll stay. Communism is better than 4 more years of the "Good Old Party" as in OLD and tired ideas. There is nothing GOOD about it unless you own an oil well and have no heart.

Linda   November 4th, 2008 6:51 am ET

This election is probably one of the most important in the United States history.
America will have a chance to elect its first African American President, Oldest President or first Female Vice-President.

Never has the choice been starker.

One Candidate has appealed to and inspired millions and hence been able to build a broad coalition of supporters that look like America. The other candidate uses hateful innuendos and half-truths to smear his opponent and has appealed to a narrow segment of the country that does not represent all of America.

I support Barack Obama for President because I believe that at this critical junction and time in history Obama is the right person to lead America.

Obama has shown that he has the right policies, the right judgment, the right temperament, the ability to strategize and execute his plans down to the wire.
In the face of insurmountable odds he has shown that no dream is beyond our grasp if we are willing to reach for it and to fight for it.

As a first generation immigrant it is also my hope that people will be challenged to think outside the box and use creative solutions to address the entrenched interests and cronyism that often hinder well intentioned people who truly want to serve their country.

It is my fondest desire that an Obama victory will inspire people everywhere to be the Change and not wait for the Change.

Joseph Ngoru   November 4th, 2008 6:51 am ET

President Obama welcome to white house sir.
You run a good ,organised campaign devoid of malice and propaganda.
You deserve it and for sure we know and trust that you will make a good president of USA.

I still can't understand for the life of me how Louisiana is a RED state. I guess it must be because of all the tremendous amount of help they got from the Republican Administration after Katrina – and the speed at which they got it!
