Why is this a problem? Here in Louisiana all party poll observers have to be registered and show identification to work at polling stations, otherwise either party could stack polling stations with enough people to intimidate voters.
The asnwer is as simple as the article states - go to the courthouse and get your court order, and then you can do your job lawfully. This is not partisan, just acting according to State laws.

No Way, No How, No McCain.

The Republican's are not stealing another election.....It's against the law for them to be there without court order, so they needed to be shown the door.

The only thing I ask is that the law and rules are followed. That means all sides of this election.

Let's stop jumping to conclusions and apply the law as it is written. If they can be there, then they should be there. If not, then they need to get out.

Barack Obama is likely to carry such majority democratic areas anyways- the only reason the Republicans would act this way is because they want to screw around with the ballots!

It's not about "partisan politics", it's about the law.

These people were asked to leave because they weren't LAWFULLY allowed to be there- it's simple as that. The rules were being enforced, that's all.

GOP partisans really need to calm down and remember that yes, the law does indeed apply to your party too. No "conspiracy" here, sorry.

These people just needed to follow the rules and things would be fine.

Oh, I forgot, they are Republicans...they probably didnt think that the rules applied to them.

This is just another stunt for attention.

The republicans arrived there to try and steal the election. They should only be allowed under offical orders and be watched very closely. NOT THIS TIME WILL THE REPUBLICANS ILLEGALLY TAKE AN ELECTION.

I live in Philadelphia and every polling place has three officials who are elected themselves. Two of them are form each party and the Judge of the Election (May have the title wrong, but you get the idea) is by majority vote.

Given that Pennsylvania has a large number or electors and in this campaign has been seen as the most important battle ground, I am not surprised at this occurrence.

I am not a legal expert, so I will defer to the Courts judgement on the issue. I do however fond their presence a bit suspect at the polls.

The right to vote is the very foundation of our democracy. Everyone entitled to vote should do so as a matter of patriotic duty.

Anything less than a free and fair election where every vote counts is un-American and beyond shame.

Those who don't understand the process...It is clearly spelled out here. YOU must be given a COURT ORDER to serve at a facility in those positions in that state. It was not stated that the Democrats did not want them there just DO IT THE RIGHT WAY. ( just like the Immigration Process)Go get the court orders and then it legitimizes your presence. The same must apply in Republican districts, Democrats must have their Court Orders in place.

surely everyone can understand the idea of both parties overseeing a polling station. it's extremely reasonable and adds credibility to the election process with all parties can certify that nothing nefarious is taking place.
so, basically, get a grip.

This is so ridiculous. If the reverse were happening, the GOP would be saying the same thing. All this division isn't helping the country. Why is the GOP so polarizing this year? Why instill all this fear and hatred into democracy? Suppressing votes is exactly what they want to do, as a Reganite once said in 1980, the fewer people that vote, the more it helps the GOP. When are Americans going to wake up and smell the deception?

I agree - if it's illegal to be there, they should be removed.

HOWEVER, how can it be right for there to be no Republican representation?

If things are to be truly FAIR with no "stealing" or "fraud" then both sides should be represented. It's just the right thing to do.

say what you want - i lived in Palm Beach & saw what the Republicans did ... it was truly hateful. By the way I AM a Republican & I was extremely ashamed of the their tactics. It didn't stand for truth it stood for lies, fear & down right ugliness

I am equally ashamed that apparently the RNC only learned more ugly tricks to lie & scare folks. The saddest part is that ignorance is rampant in the US & people actually rather believe it then check the facts. If you say you voted for McCain because you believe in his platform then fine - I will respect that. Even if you are honest and say you can't vote for Obama because he is black - while I do not agree w/you - I would also respect that. But... if you vote for McCain based on the lies (shame shame Pat) because you didn't check the fact - then you should be ashamed of yourself !!!

I am a proud Christian, Patriotic Republican who has a nephew in Afgan fighting for YOUR freedom & I have decided to place my vote for Change in 08!!!! This RNC is NOT the party I thought or used to be - Shame Shame Shame ......

Hey Blockheads: We'll quite fighting the 2000 election when the GOP stops trynig to subvert the will of the people by stealing elections. And no, hanging chads are not caused by someone punching a whole stack of cards at once, its caused by little old ladies and little old men not pushing hard enough or not having the ballot properly aligned.

The fact is, republicans have involved themselves in the past two election cycles in ways that has created unprecedented mistrust, so don't get on your high horse now and try to point the finger the other way.

so what you are saying that it is ok for them to do this. Yes I understand were there coming from. But what about the people that aren't sure about there vote. What if they wanted to know more information about the mcain campaign. This is wrong I take it so democrate made that law up. Its not stealing votes if the person is undecided who to vote for.

Scared to see such a strong black woman in the White House. And stop bringing up Jeremiah Wright, we respected the rights of Palin to belive in Witches.

If they did not bother to check the rules and make sure they were in compliance with them, they have no right to complain. It seems an odd rule, but if that's the way it is they have to comply like everybody else. Democrat or Republican makes no difference - If you don't belong at a polling place under the law, you should not be there!

I don't understand what the argument is against this. If the law states they are not allowed without a court order, how can you possibly argue that they should be allowed? I am sure the same thing is happening to Democrats in the rural districts with a Republican majority. Can anyone give an honest explanation as to why these few should suddenly be exempt from the word of Law?

I am sure Karl Rove just wants to have his operatives in there to tell those registered Democrats that they are to vote on November 5th like they have told them in the Commenwealth of Virginia. You'd think that you just can't trust anyone anymore when it comes to voting that you need to have someone from another party looking over your shoulder. Philadelphia is not going to make this election, it is all the people who have given whatever little they have to Obama to make this election a reality. To have a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Freedom at its best.

I would like to thank McPalin for providing all the entertainment this election cycle.

To McCain...The only change you've represented is the daily message of your confused, erratic campaign. Your ideas are old and outdated. You only adopted "change" after you saw the traction that Obama got with that message. Even in the final hours of your pathetic campaign, all you could talk about was Obama. You don't even know what your position on the key issues is anymore. It's time for you to fade into the sunset; you will never be president. Get over it. Goodbye.

To Palin...Your fifteen minutes already seem to have lasted a lifetime. You have brought comedy to this election by your ignorance, closed mindedness, and whacked-out right-wing views. You have given people across this country and throughout the world more laughs than you will ever know. Your inability to put a complete sentence together has made you a laughing stock. Your presence has confirmed McCain's complete lack of judgment. It's time for you to go. Goodbye Sarah Baraclueless.

I find it interesting that people are trying to pin this on Obama. The article CLEARLY states that this happens in EVERY election in PA. I am sure those people knew they needed that court order because it is the LAW there. Get over yourselves...

It is absolutely amazing the hatred and bile that continues to be spewed out by whatever party. It seems to be stroked by bipartisanism of whatever party. That is most dangerous to the long-term health of this Country. Suppression of voting, court orders, etc. are all one in the same -- an attempt to divert the simple process of voting who will lead.

The act of voting should be available to all citizens of this country. Voting should always be encouraged. Both Republicans and Democrats have spend millions -- perhaps billions -- of dollars to ensure an election we can be proud of as Americans. Yet we machines and procedures that do not work. We are not going down the right path. We need to step back and have an effort to get it right.
