(CNN) - A power outage briefly delayed voting in Akron, in the battleground state of Ohio Tuesday. Summit county Board of Elections director Marijean Donofrio says the power went out at two polling places, a school and a community center for about 20 minutes for an unknown reason. Donofrio says election officials were able to restore electricity using a generator. She says turnout in the county has been heavy but voters in line at the times the polls closed at 7:30pm would be eligible to vote.

It's amazing to me how people that are not even from the Akron area and haven't the vaguest idea what they're talking about, have the most to say. I do live there, the power outage was short, and everybody who wants to will get to vote. As for the snide comments about Ohio stealing the election, it's not even possible. The only thing stolen in Ohio or anywhere else is evidently common sense. Pea brains looking for a conspiracy behind everything. Especially Mr Galoot who can't even spell.

Early voting in Ohio started a month ago. No reason to be stuck in long lines today.

Mo in Columbus, OH 4 OBAMA   November 4th, 2008 8:24 pm ET

The power also went out a a polling place in Reynoldsburg, OH, which is a suburb of Columbus. I voted early...

Linda Rosales   November 4th, 2008 8:21 pm ET

Trends? i got one!

Maybe the Republican voters in Rural America need more radio and TV access to know whats what! We need the Fair Doctrine nationwide so they have both sides!

Colorado Democratic Voter!

P.S I was a Hillary delegate, had a tough time deciding until McCain picked Sarah Pallin. Then it was a no brainer (pun intended).

Cheers!

observer   November 4th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

Well, DUH, these problems only happen in swing states.

maurice   November 4th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

leslie this election wasnt stolen it was bought

OBAMA 08   November 4th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

Im from Akron and fortunately I voted early. Yea we had power outages which is very suspect. Power lines, cable out whats up OHIO?

anthony ogbuji   November 4th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

SolarMarty   November 4th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

As a former Akron resident I am not surprised- probably some redneck driving his F350 into a substation. Go OH-Bama!

Jessica   November 4th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

I'm not surprised this is happening in Akron. The power goes out randomly over here. I was in a McDonalds when the lights went out on the whole street and the weather was sunny. They really need to invest money in upgrading their power grid.

Peggy T.   November 4th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

It is crazy that there are so many problems with being able to vote four years from the last election. It really makes me wonder if these aren't things that are man made to try & influence the votes. This is the United States of America, people are suppose to vote for the canidate of choice in each & every state. We need to have accountability in these voting. We also need to get rid of the electorial college, there may of been a reason to of had it at one time, but it's time to let the majority of the people speak, not just those that are in involved with the electorial college.

MKUltraPDX   November 4th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Another reason voting machines are a bad idea.

Also, why is it always Ohio?

ONLY IN OHIO   November 4th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Figures...you would think they would have been prepared...sounds VERY suspicious...OOPS...lights went out....Old trick

Alex   November 4th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Yes this does sound very suspicious. Lets hope Ohio OR Florida don't screw this election up like they did before.

Tony   November 4th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

Akron is a predominately democratic city. If anything is suspicous its on the Obama and democratic side. Just like the fake voters they are registering.

Alicia   November 4th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

OK Ohio we are watching you. Don't try to steal this one

katie   November 4th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

Are you kidding me with this?? Why can't we have an honest election? This is an outrage.

damien from akron,oh   November 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Wait a minute I live in akron ohio and I don't recall a blackout happening. This is how it all starts.

Not Again   November 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

RIOT TIME!

George C.   November 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Hey everyone, I hope you all got out to vote today! I just wanted to let you know of this hysterical video I found that makes fun of the presedential race called ANYONE CAN BE VP. It's probably the funniest video I have ever seen. Have a wonderful night, just go to youtube and put it in the search bar!

l   November 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

things happen!

galoot   November 4th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

HA! How strange that this would happen in Akron OH.
Another attempt at stealing the election. Out of all places two polling places misteriously lose power. SO brazen.

Christine Morris   November 4th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

It was incredibly easy to vote early. I'm not sure why everyone didn't. I walked in with three forms of ID weeks ago and was done in minutes.

anne   November 4th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

Are you kidding me? Can't this country at least figure out electricity? I really hope this incident will not lead to a scandal

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 8:07 pm ET

Are you kidding me? Can't this country at least figure out electricity? I really hope this incident will not lead to a scandal

Jamie   November 4th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

OH please! Give me a break.....suspicious?

Laura W.   November 4th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

I live in the exact neighborhood where the power went out. The power outage was not confined to the polling places. Street lights were not functional in part of the neighborhood, and some businesses were without power as well. Now, as to the cause of the power outage, I will not speculate.

natalie   November 4th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

akron!

Msjaneen   November 4th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Weather in Akron today was perfect. No wind storm or rain what could possibly make the power go out on that side of town? Hmmm something here is fishy.LOL

David   November 4th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Holy crap I live in Akron, and I didn't find out about the outage until I read this page.

Good thing I voted early.

Brian   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Hello Diebold! :(

god   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

let the vote tell the story instead of trying to minipulate the people.

USA1

James Stroud   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

..and when all the lights came back on, all of the voting booths had been switched with exact replicas.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

very very suspicious. for an unknown reason. suspiciously suspicious

Andrew   November 4th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Are there electronic voting machines there? Lost votes due to power outages? Why won't diebold let me get access to money that isn't mine, yet is able to so screw up an election? As an Akronite who voted provisionally, I'm scared that we'll get screwed either way.

Obama/ Biden '08

Here's to getting our votes counted.

Jessica   November 4th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

So there was all the buzz that 1/3 of registered voters voted early/absentee this year. when are these votes counted? if we voted weeks ago why are those numbers not already reported?

Leslie   November 4th, 2008 7:58 pm ET

Once again OHIO is suspect, this is a travesty. I will petition all if this election is stolen!

Jack   November 4th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

Gee, maybe they should check for plumbers?

Baker Fam 4 OBAMA   November 4th, 2008 7:56 pm ET
