PUMA members still won't vote for Obama.
PUMA members still won't vote for Obama.

(CNN) — When Will Bower, an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter and lifelong Democrat, founded PUMA, Party Unity My A**, his mission was to express frustration in the Democratic Party. Fast forward six months to Election Day, and he is proud to say he's cast his ballot for the candidate he "trusts" most: John McCain.

"I see Barack Obama as essentially being the Democratic George Bush," Bower said. "It's a reactionary movement. People like John McCain and Hillary Clinton represent mores stability and sensibility to me."

Bower started the PUMA movement in the days leading up to the suspension of Clinton's presidential campaign in early June.

The initiative was not to rally support for McCain but to unite those who don't want Obama as president.

The group is predominantly composed of female Clinton supporters, Bower told CNN in early June, but he has also helped launch the Just Say No Deal, a nationwide coalition that he estimated has 2 million voters who are also vowing to "say no" to the Illinois senator.

The 36-year-old Washington resident has never voted for a Republican in his 18 years of qualifying to vote but said he feels that Obama does not represent the voice of the Democratic Party but the "leadership" of the Democratic National Committee.

"I didn't want to validate corruption or reward the campaign for what I thought was a fraudulent victory," Bower said. "What I am left with is a matter of trust. I have very little trust for Barack Obama. Even though John McCain and I might have differences on various issues, I trust him.

"[McCain is] a bipartisan leader, and I think that's the kind of leadership we need right now," Bower added.

Only during Clinton's convention speech in Denver, Colorado, did Bower consider not voting for McCain, but at no point was he swayed toward Obama.

He credits the Arizona senator's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate in helping to decide his vote.

"I think [Sarah Palin] is essentially as qualified as Barack Obama," Bower said. "The benefit of Palin is that she is only second on the ticket, as opposed to first. I feel that Barack Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin."

As for the other members of PUMA, Bower says the majority will be casting votes for McCain, just as he did.

"There are plenty of PUMAs who are still not ready to go the extra step [and vote McCain], but they are not ready to vote for Obama, either."

Those voters, he says, will either abstain from voting, vote third-party or write in Clinton's name.

Only a small percentage of members have shifted toward supporting Obama, but if those members pull the lever for the Democratic nominee, they are "no longer a PUMA," Bower said.

Patricia, one quick question….Who's united? There's NO WAY I'll be supportive of a President Osama!

are you serious? a folksy redneck is going to be more prepared than a learned academic?? somebody lacks some common sense

Will Bower needs to hold his breath until people start caring for his cause.

I voted in Sacramento, CA!!   November 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Amen Patricia!!

daniel   November 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

how we can be united? are you nuts? You really think things are going to change, becuase obama is running on that platform? Do me a favor and check all the other leaders who claimed that platform through the last hundred years, and list their accomplishments that equated to change… will be a short list …

Glen   November 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

This is a typical example of what's wrong. Your vote for McCain is a spiteful vote because you don't like Obama…don't give me that "He is bi-partisan" nonesense.

Vickie   November 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

This helps the country how? How can you justify going from Hillary Clinton to John McCain? Seriously……..

Lindsey   November 4th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

This is a very interesting article and I appreciate you bringing light to this group. I have heard several people discuss this exact issue, but none of us were aware of PUMA. Thank you for bringing to light a group that has come about during this election process. Very unique story, whether you are a Dem or Rep.

let's see if i can understand this moron's thinking….uhhhh…god, it's hard to think like a moron! he seems to be saying, "i trust the candidate i KNOW will screw me rather than the candidate whom i don't know if he'll screw me or not; but don't trust him because he's not hillary clinton"?????!!!! why does ANYONE give this idiot a forum? i mean, really. what relevance does he have in this election? NONE. his 15 minutes of fame that andy warhol mentions are GONE! later, loser!

Jo from LA   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

What a bunch of sore Losers, and I capitalize Losers again, are these adults or childeren we are dealing with Puma is for LOSERS!!!!!!!

Raquel   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

How can someone who supported the Democratic ideal when Hillary was running, now say they support McCain instead? Clinton herself asked her supporters to support Obama, but they just don't get it. Voting for McCain is like voting for Bush again. The PUMA group is just a pack or sore losers, still crying over spilled milk after all these months. What a joke.

not patricia   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

patricia i did not vote because my vote has no impact on the result, but do you really believe what you just wrote? not that im bringing anything to the table here either, but can you please give me some reasons on who greatly united will become. america is lacking brain power as usual, and yes, i am an american.

Norcal DM   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

I'm sure if Barack didn't have a swahili name and was white, Puma's wouldn't exist. Frankly, PUMA's arent' true democrats. Hillary already told you morons to vote for Obama b/c her values and his were the same. Get over it you darn PUMA's, W and Obama are world's apart in terms of intelligence, intellect, and common sense. Obama being the one who has light years more intelligence, intellect and common sense.

Darren   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Wow, an absolute breath of fresh air. I'm so glad to see there are those in blue out there who see Barack Obama for what he really is. I'm not a supporter of Hillary, but I'm impressed with PUMAs stance and solidarity in the face of a lot of fanatics who have never bothered to cast a vote before in their lives.

Jay   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Have fun complaining about how Obama stole the election from McCain too when Obama wins.

You can't seriously believe that McCain and Clinton more trustworthy than Obama… if so, I have some Savings & Loans you can invest in and a great idea for another war (let's attack Belgium! They're stealing our budweiser!).

Will Cunningahm, Santa Barbara, CA   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Sarah Palin = Barack Obama…you are crazy. A Harvard grad, Senator, and US Law expert is NOT the same as a Sarah Palin – no way, no how. Will Bower is letting his distrust for Obama cloud his vision.

Meka   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

YOU FAILED BOWER . . . AMERICA WILL UNITE!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08-'12

James   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

I agree. He was obviously not very interested in the issues that Hillary Clinton supported, otherwise he would not be voting for McCain.

John Gillett   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Well said….I was a lifelong democrat until this election, but I did not vote for Obama.

I hadn't thought of Obama as the dem's Bush, but the analogy fits….like Bush, Obama is arrogant, inexperienced, devisive and despised by many members of his own party.

McTraitor   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

What a loser … trying to unify people not to vote for Obama & basically helping Bush & McCain … Bower needs to switch to the Republican Party … what a loser!

Sean from Orlando   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Well that would make sense since Obama is directly blood related to Bush!

Brian   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

100% the trust thing. And, McCain has spent a lifetime earling this.

Florence   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Today was the saddest day for me. I couldn't vote for a Democrat for president. I voted third party. Obama has little experience and virtually no accomplishments. At a time like this, the Dems should be running someone who is up for the job.

I also couldn't vote for Obama because of the sexism of his campaign. I find all the comments about Sarah Palin awful.

The media never talks about sexism, just racism.

Bridgette   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Oh get that stick out your butt Will Bower..You are 18 and still wet behind your dam ears, if you think Sarah Palin is mor qualified then Obama. Keep sucking on your lemon and be quite lil boy.

What a whiner. His credibility is shot the moment he mentions that McCain's choice of Palin was the deciding factor in his vote. She is the antithesis of Hillary Clinton.

I guess someone is still a little bitter Hillary lost. Be a grown man and get over it!!!!!!!!!!

Deb in San Antonio, TX   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Will, thank you for standing tall, I have also, followed your path,
my sister, and my 3 adult kids and at least 170 of my close friends,
"hispanics" who were all Hillary supporters. I am not one to follow the hypes of a man with only ambition and no substance. I want someone with "experience" and you are so very very right.

Obama is the next George Bush. Good luck to those who mistakenly voted for him, I promise, you will regret it before
his first 6 months. God help us all.

Fed UP   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

PULEEEZE, this is not even news.

Fred   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Sounds like this man is trying to hide his own racism in these statements.

These are exactly the talking points that were thrown out at me by people who couldn't bring themselves to vote for a black man while I campaigned in Pennsylvania for Senator Obama.

Hopefully the members of PUMA will abstain or write in for Senator Clinton rather than vote for Senator McCain.

Waaaaaa! The party didn't listen to me! Waaaaa!

Seriously, he won the nomination and if you're truly a Democrat (or a sane person with a brain) you can't actually buy into McCain's fear-based politics.

daron   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

these people are the reason bush 2 was elected in the first place and now they are voting for mccain in spite, they have no principles in thier life and are the people who blame the government for every thing and do nithing to change it ! so be selfish and vote agaisnt the next president and when things DO change we can laugh in your face!

steveg   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Bitter, party of how many? How many faux-outrage afflicted people with a tenuous relationship with reality? Apparently they refused to listen to Sen. Clinton's urge to support Obama. Disingenuity and denial of reality .. now THAT sounds like Bush.

Lee   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Wow – a thought process supporting someone's vote – what a novel idea! Go PUMA!

LawDog   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

PUMA is stupid….we need to unify, not cry over spilled milk…

Palin as qualified as Obama? She can't even name a newspaper she read!!!

Isabel   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

I wrote in HRC for President!

Was independant, but now McCain 2008   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Hillary thought she was preordained to be president, then Obama thought he was preordained to be ruler of the world.

It would be great if both proved unsuccessful.

I actually thought Hillary would have been a strong leader, Obama…not.

Tabeth   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Friends,
America is a free country where everyone's opinion is to be respected.
However, when we look more to a person than to the principals he stands for, we surely will end up with such organization as PUMA.

Both Hillary and Obam are of few days under the sun. But strong principals can inspire future generations.

There is somewhere a dark spot in their conscience that they can't see themselves. Hitler, despite of all that he did, he is still worshiped by some..

You can't just help it

Hope you get it!

Clare   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Also, while I am at it, how does "writing in Clinton's name" achieve anything? Its a wasted vote, surely, and makes no point except that you are a bit stupid.

JoelWhy   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

So, after months of PUMA's shouting about how there was NO way Obama could beat McCain, now they suddenly change their tune. Obama is like Bush? That's the argument now? This group's a joke.

Rovian Bull   November 4th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

What a joke. PUMA in the first place was a creation of Rove and Schmidt. At their peak, following the primaries, they had maybe a thousand people in their organization. By now, that number is down to a hundred or two at most. Anyone who claims to support Hillary and votes with McCain either hasn't the slightest clue on the issues, or cares nothing about our country and its wellbeing and is more concerned with revenge because their candidate didn't win. The final proof is that he said that Palin was the convincing factor for him. That makes him the only Hillary supporter in the world who feels that Palin is a positive for the GOP ticket. Enjoy your minute of fame, bc come tomorrow, the only job you'll have is getting Karl Rove's coffee…..

just admit it, people from the southern states have a ton of racial tension which has messed this country up from day 1. Half of the people will not vote democrat because Obama is a black man , half of the others will not vote McCain because if his running mate being female.

It's a sad day when people in the United states will not vote for reasons like i mentioned above. I'm registered republican, i voted for change, and it wasn't McCain.

Obama 2008! Believe it!

as for PUMA? well they have their opinions and we all have ours , best of luck to both parties.

Larry   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

One more bit of proof that we humans are not rational thinkers as much as we are rationalizers. How can anyone trust John McCain after the campaign he has run. I'm still trying to figure out which McCain is running.

This is coming from someone who used to respect both Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Dean M   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Bower is a lunatic…. to say that "Barack Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin."

Say what you like but when you say stupid things people will dismiss you out of hand…. It seems anyone can found an organisation these days…. I'm forming the BIAFI foundation. Answers on a postcard as to what that stands for.

John Hendricks   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Trust who? We're talking politicians here, Will. By their very definition, they are–and to survive, must be–opportunists.

"Trust" a politician? To do what? Vote his "conscience"? You gotta have one to vote one.

This is a democracy, Will. We back a party because their positions on the issues are most-closely in alignment with ours. There's nothing "personal" about this. It's business! The business of government.

The prevailing winds change. Politicians must change with them. And so must we. "Trust" has nothing to do with it!

Erik   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

There so many things wrong with this viewpoint. First, Bower is upset because his candidate lost the primary. He is completely disregarding his ideology for spite. Second, Obama wasn't the DNC leadership choice; Clinton was clearly the establishment candidate. Leaders only began to support Obama when it was clear Clinton couldn't win the nomination. True Obama may be lacking experience, but I would question the judgement of a man who selects Palin as a running-mate. Clinton supporters should support their party; fellow Democrats have more in common than a conservative Republican who votes with his party 90% of the time. I see why Bower supports McCain–they both act like petulant children.

tarma   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Good Luck Mr. PUMA.

Palin just as qualified as Obama? You have got to be kidding me.

Kathy in Colorado   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

I supported Hillary in the primary, however today I cast my vote for McCain.

I wasn't sure I would do it, but in the end I found the idea of voting for McCain less repugnant than joining the herd of SHEEP — a.k.a. Obama followers.

Although I have a feeling that there will be a surprisingly large "silent majority" who voted as I did today!

Peter in New Mexico   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Bower, I am truly surprised you are smart enough to launch PUMA or any organization for that matter. How can you feel Palin is more qualified then Sen. Obama. Palin is a non issue. She, I don't believe is a flash in the pan, but she truly does not have a clue about anything. Nat'l gas pipe line!!! She had as much to do with that project as you did. Sen. McCain will lose this election by a landslide because of Palin.
Sen. Obama has the charisma, the leadership qualities and the intelligence to be a GREAT WORLD LEADER.
I was sorry Sen. Clinton didn't get the nomination, at first. It didn't take long to feel the way I do about Sen. Obama.
Palin, you've got to be kidding. What an idiot!

Fool.

A Democrat   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

PUMA all the way. The DNC shoved Obama down our throats and today I voted McCain. How can Obama unite a country when he can not unite his own party????

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Any Democrat who professes to support John McCain, saying his decision was solidified by McCain's choosing of Sarah Palin, is not credible, in my humble estimation. I've been a Democrat since 1966 and can tell you that these "PUMAS" are not now and never were, genuine members of the Democratic Party. Their lack of Party loyalty reveals a pack of sniveling, whining, little spoiled brats who didn't get their way. I'm a Barack Obama supporter and would have proudly, and loudly supported Hillary Clinton had she won the nomination.

Carol   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

And a bigot speaks.

Mark   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

I guess it's hard to own up to being a racist. I'm not sure what else it could be. Obama and Hillary have very similar policies, night and day from McCain. This loser is either a racist, or he has some sort of popularity contest going on in his own mind ( or both). The good news is that these PUMA jokers are about to crawl back under a rock, never to be heard from again. Just one more thing to celebrate.

Chris from St. Louis   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

He mis-stated his number of supporters … it is not 2 million … it is just TWO.

D.C. Churchwell   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

I agree with Bowers, but I can't vote for McCain because of his running mate. She is the complete opposite of everything I believe in. I decided to use my vote to make a statement-I wrote in Hillary R. Clinton for my presidential choice!

Beth   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

What a fool. I sense that his only goal is to back McCain in an attempt to rally his candiate in four years time.

"[McCain is] a bipartisan leader, and I think that's the kind of leadership we need right now," Bower added.

The same "Bipartisan leader that voted with "King" George 90% of the time. Give me a break.

He is just another wishy washy Democrat!
I voted for Obama and I am life long Republican.

Thanh   November 4th, 2008 5:41 pm ET

Hey, I supported Clinton, but not voting for Obama out of bitterness is stupid. John McCain now, is not the John McCain from the primaries. His message has been warped and corrupted by others in the GOP. Nearly every single negative ad has not focused on the issues, but instead attempted to link Obama to terrorists and others with radical agendas? What part of "real American" does that to a fellow citizen?

John McCain in the primaries ran on virtue and honor. Not now. Also, how can any Democrat PUMA even consider putting Palin so close to the Oval Office. It's insane.

John   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I think he's right. Although I have no problem with Obama being our president, his being elected is certainly a "reactionary" move, like Bush's election was. We'll see what happens, but perhaps Obama won't be the "savior" everyone thought he'd be.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

At least once this election is over, these PUMAs will officially become irrelevant.

Andy   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

A vote for McCain is a vote for more of the same. McCain has been a Bush bootlicker since day one.

Anonymous   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Palin is just as qualified as Obama? You have got to be kidding me.

Keith - Ottawa, Ontario   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

This man is no real Democrat. He is just another follower. If he really cared about Democratic values, there is no way he could vote for McCain. I liked Hillary too. But she's not on the ballot. We need leaders in these times and Obama will deliver!

YES.WE.CAN!!!!

Isis   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Will, you're in the minority on this one. So Hillary didn't make it… that's because we liked Obama better. Running into the arms of the McCain/Palin fiasco seems like a strange way to express disappointment.

Barb, Des Plaines   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Face the facts, Hillary is so over you. She just wasn't that into you. Why can't you move on?

Tom   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Apparently this guy has yet to look at the issues. Clinton and Obama AGREE on most everything. Clinton and McCain DISAGREE on most everything. We're not electing somebody to have a beer with. We're electing somebody to figure out solutions and put them into practice. McCain would do the opposite of what Clinton wants. Obama will do mostly the same as Clinton would. Voting for McCain because you can't have Clinton makes no sense whatsoever.

John Gaskell   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Stop looking at resume and start looking at IQ. Obama is clearly more qualified to be president than McCain/Palin. Look what happened the last time you put an average IQ in the White House. "You're doing a great job, Brownie"

Too bad Will, guess you can pack it up now … LOL

All I know is I'm sick and tired of hearing how bad it would be to have a black president . Well, I'm white but I voted for Obama . I'm proud of my vote and I have no worries aboout him being part black . Sometimes people need to look past color and pay attention to the real issues . I've watched his speeches , the commercial and I have to say , he has a heart and I believe he will do the country good . I don't think he would make his self look bad in front of his daughters . McCain is only worried about people who are up to his standards , like owning 6 homes or whatever . I live in a double-wide trailer, but it is my home and I can afford it . Let's hope and pray Obama gets the President position . We really need a change fast . Go Obama !!!!!

Former Republican   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

ha ha ha this guy is whacked.
Does he even have anything to back the "corruption" claim?
And, how exactly does the DNC just will Obama to victory when the real voters supposedly wanted Hillary.
Hey PUMA, face reality. Hillary was a horrible candidate. Even most democrats thought she was a crooked, scary snake.
She would have lost to McCain in a second.

And, good lord how on earth can you possible claim Palin is a qualified as Obama? Obama is actually smart. That is a mighty big qualification compared to being against abortion and homsexual marriages.

But hey, if America is ever attacked by an army of homos who want to get marriage licenses I say put Palin on the front line of defense.

hah ha ha OMG this is the dumbest organisation in the history of politics.

jroc   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

sour, sour grapes. and just plain sad!

Dave   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

This group still amazes me.
We want Hillary to win, but she loses. So we then to decide that for president we will vote for the person that opposes Hillary on EVERY issue.
Thats not voting with the heart or the brain. It's a very bitter, very stupid, very selfish statement of "If my candidate can't win, then I won't let yours either!".
I guess it proves that some people never do grow up.

CT from Chi-Town   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

"What I am left with is a matter of trust…" Wow, focus on the issues much? There is NO WAY you could have been a Clinton supporter and then decided that John McCain was a better match. That's truly insane!

Dave W.   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I sure hope that McCain wins and that Bowers is eligible to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan. I'd bet even Hillary thinks hes a loser.

AM in VA   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Well Bower will have supported the loser in the last three elections. The country needs a change after 20 years of Clinton and Bush. He can continue to gripe while the rest of us work for change.

Obama/Biden '08/'12

Dex Dean   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

There is nothing worse than a sore loser. It takes a mature person to congradulate your opponent who has won. We all learned that from childhood.

Regarding the comment that Sarah Palin is as qualifed as Obama, please wake up and acknowledge a man who has put together a campaign over 21 months which has been run as smooth as silk and beaten to the punch the old line politicians of the Clintons and McCain. CHANGE IS NEEDED IN DC and it is coming.

Bob Partso   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Having seen the PUMA supporters gather at the DNC, I can see that PUMA is only a thinly veiled group of racists who, rather than spreading their intellectually dishonest talking points, should just come out with the fact that they hate black people.

Jonathan   November 4th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

If you truly supported Hillary Clinton, then there is no reason to vote for McCain. Hillary and Obama agree on 99 percent of the issues that you, as a Democrat, could care about. Don't kid yourself by saying that you are voting for McCain because you don't like Obama, you are just bitter that she ran a less effective campaign.

"I feel that Barack Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin."
That pretty much says it all about Will Bower. If he sees no difference in qualifications (judgment, life history, achievements, political philosophy) between Obama and Palin, then this guy and his supposed followers are obviously hacks.

Sade   November 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Who cares about you or PUMA. Regardless of what you think history will be made tonight and OBAMA will win this election.
You did not represent Hillary Clinton neither do you represent her values. She does not support nor appreciate your kangaroo group of unforgiven spirits.
Your hidden agenda is simply that I can not vote OBAMA, it has nothing to do with your annoyance that Hillary does not win the nomination.
SHAME ON YOU AND PUMA!

David   November 4th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Unfortunately, he is a sore loser. The primary was won fairly by Obama and those who supported him. A vote for McCain is in no what a supporter of Hillary should be doing.

McCain is not trustworthy-it is Bower's anger that his candidate lost that blinds him to just how power hungry and egotistical McCain is in his drive for the presidency.

Obama has his faults for sure but so do Hillary and John McCain.

Bower forgets that 18 million people also cast ballots for Obama. Voting is a numbers game and unfortunately, Hillary lost due to the numbers.

These types of groups again sabotage the voting process and should be stopped and charged with an appropriate offense.

PUMA's should quit their tantrums and get behind the proper candidate who best represents the Democrat Party and its supporters and that person is Barack Obama.

Obama may not go down as the "BEST" President ever… but he has better judgment and offers more to American people does then Nutso McCain… He offered you palin. That is like asking for a car on Christmas day and getting a stuffed cat. God only knows how bad we need Obama in the White House!

I couldn't vote for Obama in the primaries but as far as I can tell he won the popular vote in the primaries, so does Mr. Bower think that his opinion should trump the opinion of millions of voters? Ok, so he is frustrated his candidate did not win the primaries, so what? Move on! Get a life!

Oh the war that was a great example Barack has plans/ideas for all major issues facing this nation and beyond. Bush wanted to follow in daddys footsteps yet could never fill the shoes and used the last 8 yrs with a daddy complex that caused our nation grief, suffering and turmoil. Barack is no way like him at all

Who has shown intellectual curiosity and has succeeded in everything he's done whereas Bush has failed in everything he's done?

As a woman who voted for Hillary in the Primary in Indiana i voted for Obama today. Obama has the same values as Hillary . Why anyone who voted for Hillary would not vote for Obama means that they did not hold the same values as Hillary. McCain does not have Hillary's values -in fact just the opposite. After the last 8 years we need to think what is good for the country and McCain -Palin doesn't compute. You would vote for Palin after Clinton-Are you crazy???

"I think [Sarah Palin] is essentially as qualified as Barack Obama," Bower said. "The benefit of Palin is that she is only second on the ticket, as opposed to first. I feel that Barack Obama is no more qualified than Sarah Palin."

Clearly there is no comparison. Obama has something to say, Palin doesn't. Obama appeals to the middle-ground, Palin doesn't. Obama seems worldly and educated, Palin doesn't. Obama has run a positive campaign, Palin has attacked Obama rather than propose changes.

The list is endless.

alvino   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Is it because John McCain shares so many of the same ideals of Hillary? At least Bower and McCain agree on dividing and not uniting.

kbb   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

During the entire primary, Clinton supporters accused Obama of "copying" her policy positions. So, given the choice between a black candidate who supports all the same positions as they're candidate, and a white candidate who stands opposed to everything they claimed to be for, it leads me to conclude that these people have one single overriding issue – race.

(And the "not experienced" BS is just that. Obama is older now than Bill Clinton was in 1992.)

Ron   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

This man is clearly nuts. Palin as qualified as Obama? Huh? Obama's intellectualism and world view as opposed to Palin's…what? Can you imagine Palin having high level meetings with ANY world leader? Trying to broker peace in the mid-East. Easing tensions in the Congo? Any other large scale World issue? Are you kidding?

If McCain-Palin wins tonight, I am moving…TO FRANCE.

Suzanne   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

I don't understand how former Clinton supporters can vote for John McCain. Even if you are angry and upset about what happened to your candidate, voting for McCain is like betraying your candidate and everything she stands for (health care, Iraq, etc.). It is wrong on so many levels.

Gianna   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

You know, I can understand someone not being enamored of Obama (I don't agree, but I can understand their stance). However, I just can't wrap my head around someone who ardently supports Hillary Clinton and all that she stands for turning around and voting for John McCain, who is the polar opposite of Clinton on so many topics. How on Earth can someone believes in Clinton's stance vote for someone who believes the opposite of what she does? Doesn't it make more sense to not vote rather than that?

GET REAL.   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

the very definition of "divisive"… and as far as I'm concerned, divsive equals corrupt.

call the primaries what you will, but Hillary's been able to get over it and stand behind Obama, so if you can't, then you're just nursing hate and you need to get over yourself. it's childish and immature. period.

Geoffrey   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Regardless of whether or not any of these people are either of these in the slightest bit, there's probably not a better way to scream to the world "HEY LOOK, I'M A RAGING FEMINIST" or "HEY LOOK, I'M A RAGING RACIST."

Clinton didn't get picked. Get over it. And as best I can tell, being non-American and all, you can't be a Democrat voting for McCain, at that point you're just a Republican.

For the record, I'm not entirely sure that I care who wins, but I will be thrilled to see the campaign finally be over. Between the federal election that we just went through and the one that the USA is going through now, I think I can count the number of "vote for me because I'm awesome" ads on one hand, while I would have to borrow the hands and feet of everybody I know to count the number of "vote for me for no reason other than that I'm not them" ads that I've seen. Man, I hate politics.

wesinca   November 4th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Will Bower and PUMAs followers are sore-losers that Hillary didn't win the nomination. The statement he made that Palin is just as qualified as Obama is rediculous. How can he make that claim with a straight face. I think he is voting for McCain because he doesn't trust African Americans, not because he doesn't think Obama is qualified.

Molly B   November 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Are you seriously kidding me?!?

Professor Frink   November 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

sour grapes much?

McCookie   November 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

It's sad that his vote was driven out of anger at Obama for winning. But his irreverence of McCain voting with Bush, and not clarifying what he would do different than Bush clearly underscores his lack of mental involvement while casting his vote.

Further case and point is his validation of Sara Palin. Republicans say she is a Whacko, and ill prepared to be VP let alone President at a moment's notice. Her prank call and school girl response to the call just magifies her ignorance in foreign affairs.

But hey, people have to right to cast their vote for who they want. In the end Obama will win, and all the Repubs can go to Alaska and succeeed with Palin.

NO OBAMA   November 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Live Free or Die Forever   November 4th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

And finally, I will start a petition to ban the use of these two word in conjuntion, "my" and "friends"!

Expat in Canada   November 4th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

I don't know how you could be a Hillary supporter who votes for McCain/Palin unless you have no concern for actual issues. Obama and Hillary were very similar on the issues, so voting for someone who's a 180 from a candidate you supported proves that bitterness at best (and possibly racism at worst) trump actual issues that matter.

Peter   November 4th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

Bower is a moron. Clinton and McCain have nothing in common and are diametrically opposed to each on almost every issue, yet somehow "trusting" an erratic McCain provides more stability than Obama? I can understand if he feels that Clinton was robbed, but he and his PUMAs should be sitting out the election or voting third party, not becoming Benedict Arnolds.

Will Bower is obviously a bitter bitter man who does not hold actual values. If he valued the things Hillary Clinton actually stands for, there would be no PUMA and he would not vote for McCain. Either you are pro-choice or you are anti-choice. Either you are for progressive taxes or you are for deficit spending. Either you are for a reasonable foreign policy or your are for bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran. Either you are for a sustainable energy policy or you are for Drill Baby Drill. Either you are for all the Joe the Plumbers or you are for Joe the Unemployed Country Music Singer. Clearly, Bower is for himself.

Question: Is PUMA another word for racist?

Eli   November 4th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

Ben   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Right, because the way in which Mccain has run his campaign and gone back on everything he used to stand for strikes me as very stable. Obama is a calm and measured thinker, he is not prone to rashness, if you want to know what kind of leader he is, look at the way that he has run his campaign: deftly, calmly, and presidentially.

Jonesie   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Such ignorance should not be rewarded.

It is not noble to be petty.

The question has been and always will be: Who is the best for America?

The answer is Barack Obama.

The President of the United States should be; intelligent, honest, trustworthy and have the best intrests of the American People.

Obama is 4 for 4. McCain is 1 for 4.

rob   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Why doesn't he just be honest: He started the group because he wanted attention. Stop whining! I still don't understand how Obama "stole" the election from Hillary. I remember voting for him along with millions of others.

If you want to abstain from voting out of protest, fine. I respect that. But how can you support Hillary and all she stands for AND THEN vote for McCain/Palin? It's nonsensical. Losers.

Chris (SC)   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Why don't you vote for Barr or Nader if you don't like either party?

tony   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

He likes Palin.

That automatically disqualifies him as a rational person in my mind. Discounted.

Andy   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

it is about time people started saying the Obama is just as qualified then Palin is….also he noted that Palin is only second on the ticket

Daryl from Seattle   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

This guy is a fraud. He sounds like he can't get over his own racial prejudice if he honestly thinks Sarah Palin and Barack Obama are the same. If he's really a life long Democrat, why didn't he vote for Nader-Gonzales or something bit more fitting of a Democrats political view point. Instead he's just voting for McCain out of spite? You were never a Democrat, none of you so called PUMAS were ever Democrats. You were Neo Conservative Republicans and just didn't know it.

By the way….watch out for the landslide. You're standing right in front of it…

Lets go B.O.!!! Obama-Biden 08

mike b.   November 4th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Bower sounds like a DINO – Democrat in Name Only – who isn't playing with a full deck if he thinks Obama is more similar to Bush than Hillary. Trying to explain this to him isn't worth my time.

Dealt, Lisbon   November 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

"The group is predominantly composed of female Clinton supporters". Didn't Hillary tell her voters to unite behind Obama? Why were they supporting her? I seem to remember from the primaries there was not a wide gap on the issues betwen Hillary and Obama.

Ok, so they were not supporting Hillary for the issues. Maybe it was because she is a woman. Well… there's no discussion there. Obama is a man, Hillary is a woman. Since it can't be race, because no Hillary supporter would be so small minded, they're turning to the McCain ticket because Palin is a woman. I'm sure Hillary won't feel flattered by that.

My, my the BO supporters are out in full force today. T

The only way BO is winning is all the blacks voting are for him. No racism here, that's the truth. Many have never voted before. Voters should vote for the person not the color and the issues.

I heard a number of blacks in line today say they were going to vote for BO and then leave. Amazing!

Diane Panama City Fl   November 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

The reason Hillary Clinton did not get the nomination is that she ran a very disorganized, poorly executive campaign because she believed she had the money and backing to walk right in to the nomination – not because Obama is corrupt . I am still a fan of Hillary's – but Obama beat her by being better organized, sticking with his plan and being decisive and diligent. It's too bad this person is so angry that he would vote to destroy this country, rather than bring it together. Obama is smarter and used his skill and wits to win. That's the way is works. Get Over It!

Matthew   November 4th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

The funny thing, is that all this story just seems to be, is about a bitter Hillary supporter that (for some unknown reason) has some sort of grudge against him for winning in the primaries.

Honestly we don't need that kind of hateful and blind crap to cluster up in the election, considering there are people out there voting for McCain AND Obama for policy reasons and views.

Rather than rallying around the party's candidate (like they did with McCain) you decided to fracture the party and if that caused an Obama loss, you would gloat in an "I told you so," moment.

Thanks for your input, Mr. Bower. Prepare to never matter ever again.

PUMAS are not rue Clinton supporters! if they were, they would have followed her steps to unity and supported her issues by voting for obma. Those PUMAS are self centered women who absolutely had one goal in mind and that was to gt a woman into the hwite house, that is not loyalty.

Uh...   November 4th, 2008 5:30 pm ET

Where do they find these people?

Lyndon   November 4th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Enough with division and pettiness. Obama won fair and square and he's about to win this election. Anyone who supported Hillary Clinton that doesn't realize that John McCain's policies are a direct antithesis to her and Senator Obama's policies spits in the face of everything that Hillary worked for during the democratic primary. You can find a reason to not like Obama, but don't insult our intelligence.

These people are still around?? I've seen more of Gov Palin than these guys for crying out loud…thank you Sarah! LOL!!

Tiffany   November 4th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Can we say…bitter?

Patricia   November 4th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Sounds like he has sour grapes to me. BOO HoO, you'll get over it and see how great we can be united….

Steve in CA   November 4th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Looks like the PUMA movement didn't work. Too bad.

Chi4Obama   November 4th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Who cares what PUMA's have to say.

Is this organization even still relevant?

Barbara in NC   November 4th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Sarah Palin is a liar and McCain is senile. What's wrong with this picture.

Go ahead PUMAs – cut off your noses to spite your faces.
