Rove suggests landscape favors Obama

Karl Rove's Electoral prediction

Karl Rove's Electoral prediction

(CNN) - John McCain and his aides are still banking on a come-from-behind victory Tuesday, but the GOP's most famous political strategist is forecasting Obama is well positioned to win.

Karl Rove, the man widely credited with engineering President Bush's two successful White House bids, is out with a new map showing the Illinois senator will take the White House in an Electoral College landslide, winning 338 votes to John McCain's 200. That would be the largest Electoral College victory since 1996, when Bill Clinton defeated Bob Dole in a 379-159 rout.

Watch: Kenyans pulling for Obama

In an Electoral Map posted on Rove's Web site, the Republican mastermind shows Obama victories in several key battlegrounds, including virtually all of the states where polls suggest he currently enjoys a slim advantage. In fact, Rove believes Missouri is the only crucial battleground state McCain will carry, while Obama scores victories in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota, and Iowa. Rove also thinks Obama will win traditionally-Republican Virginia.

UPDATE: Rove has not made any definitive declarations, and writes some tight states - including Florida - could flip given some polling suggests movement in McCain's direction.

I actually think it's going to be bigger than that. Isn't Obama leading McCain with a good lead in NC? I think Obama could win NC and Missouri. If they are dead tied in Missouri, and more Dems are excited about voting- GOP voters might just give up and let the Dems take it. I predict well over 338.

  2. FED UP!

If you're still undecided just remember the last 8 years of misery Bush has put us through.

McCain will only do the same – you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

He's been corrupted all his political life and will die corrupted.

    Vote for OBAMA

Unlike others on this board, I vote McCain along with my whole family, and most of my neighbors. I don't know where the seniors from NC on this board come from, not my NC. Must be from the insane asylum.

Last ditch effort on Rove's part to keep Dems out of the polls. Complacency is the enemy!

Karl Rove, are you planning to flee to Argentina along with the rest of the George Bush Junta to avoid prosecution for treason and war crimes?

Probably trying to dissuade Democratic voters from going to the polls. Very clever, Herr Karl.

The ONLY possible reason Karl Rove would make such a prediction at this point is to create complacency among certain people who might be inclined to skip voting (new Dem voters), and to create a greater sense of urgency among Republicans to get the vote out.

This is a strategic move on his part – not a generous offer of wisdom. Nor is it a legitimate forecast of what he thinks will happen.

Once a political operative, always a political operative.

COOL, all the hard work paid! A lesson to republicans to run clean campaigns. OBAMA has a high international fan base that has been tracking him since the race begun. Great people come in different sizes/colors/races. The lesson learnt to the youngens is, "you can also dream big" no matter where your from. 2 yrs ago i would never have dreamt Obama would get this far.

To a NEW America, New day – with CHANGE!
