Undervotes reported in Palm Beach County, Florida

Voters in Florida wait to cast their ballots Tuesday morning, despite problems at some polling stations.

West Palm Beach (CNN) - Florida's Palm Beach County is reporting problems at a couple of polling stations: so-called "undervotes," where machines reject ballots because some voters are not filling out the second page of the ballot, a spokesman for the county Board of Elections confirmed. The page contains proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution.

The spokesman said these undervotes are legal. The scanner spits the ballot back and reminds the voter to vote on the second page, the spokesman said, adding that the voter then has the choice of voting or registering the undervote.

Watch: Floridians vote

He said in some cases people simply forget to fill out the second page, but most voters seem to be intentionally skipping that part of the ballot.

The town of Palm Beach is also reporting minor sporadic voter machine failures, the spokesman said. A handful of machines had to be replaced.

One polling station in the county opened one hour late because of a problem with their precinct voting list.

Many voters don't think that it's just as important to vote locally.
However, unless you are a Hillary, you must start your political career locally.

At least they are fixing it. Don't worry; the voices of millions cannot be ignored.

Exactly what is meant by the phrases "the machine rejects ballots" and "registering the undervote"?As long as the votes are counted, it doesn't really matter, but the voting machines a beginning to shake confidence in this election.

And I guarantee that all these people who can't figure out a simple ballot are Obama supporters. Do we need to put pictures of the candidates on the ballots so these morons can get it right for once?

you are a poster child for why we need change in this country

I hope the ones that can not figure out how to vote are all for Obama. I do not want a president with no experience who wants to take America's guns away.

Luckily, Obama's lead around the country will carry him over Florida's ineptness. Florida (and the Bushes) won't have the chance to mess this one up.

It is not just Florida, voter registrations and elections in America need to be revamped. We do not seam to have a problem collecting taxes. we need an efecient, ironclad, national standard process for every single voting American that does not telecast victory until everyone has voted.

If I would be a republican.. I would have to be stupid to vote for leaders of my party that made a mess of this country.. And the arrogant Cheney going to bed with those oil executives.. He is worse than a prostitute.. and Bush.. one of the most "mediocre" presidents this country had.. And people in Florida should see what the republican arrogants and crooks did to this country and to 4,260 young soldiers that are dead.

They don't care. They're there to vote for the President and they're going to make sure the GOP doesn't steal Florida a 3rd time.

To Rick – I pray that all the people who "can't figure out the simple ballot" ARE Obama supporters...so when you wake up tomorrow, we having 4 years of CHANGE of ahead of us. Clearly the article stated that its the MACHINE that don't register that their "simple ballot" is perfectly legal. Then again, it's probably the simple minded Republicans rigging the machines b/c they don't have a shot at winning!
