As long as we're relying on poorly designed machines, there will always be problems - no matter who the people intend to support. For someone to suggest that the issue is just with Obama supporters is really way off course. This is a historic election and many of these people are voting for the very first time in their lives. In the world's greatest democracy (if we are) they should be applauded for exercising their right to choose - not ridiculed!!!

More sensational reporting from CNN as usual.

The word "undervote" is used to stir up paranoia--like someone's vote for President is being thrown out because someone didn't mark the 2nd page of the ballot. Even if the page is rejected because there are no marks on it, the voter has to acknowledge at the scanning machine whether he intended to vote on the 2nd page or not. IT'S NOT LIKE THE ENTIRE BALLOT IS TOSSED OUT.

I'm so fed up with biased, sensational reporting from the media. It stinks.

Not a surprise to hear this. The election is rigged in many of the states by making it difficult. Did you know that they don't even count all the votes? that over a million provisional ballots were thrown in the trash in 2004?

In 2008 it is hard for me to believe Florida can not get a competent group of individuals who can aid in making this process flow. Voters need to simply read the ballot, make their choices and move on. Voting is not rocket science. Florida has had since 2000 to get their voting act together, what is the issue eight years later? Perhaps they want to have problems that will deliver the outcome the America was dealt in 2000? Come Florida get it together, lets NOT have a repeat of 2000, Americans really lost faith in the process that year.

The poll workers were telling everyone in AL about the other side of the ballot, it must FLA's democratic poll workers not informing their fellows/fools about it. or they think that they'll catch it on their second visit to the polls to vote again......

You people bashing Florida are too stupid to even read the story and understand that the system is working - not broken. When the undervotes are recognized, the voter is warned and asked if he/she really meant to undervote. Why bother explaining things to stupid people that want to rely on idiotic steroetypes - you all probably bought into the Messiah's message and, like a herd of cows, pulled the lever for Obama.

Calm down folks. It is entirely plausible that most people either don't care about the amendment on the second page or can't make up their minds if they support it or not and just decide to skip it entirely. They are still voting for the political offices after all. And to the poster making the Obama supporter comment, grow up. No one is interested in hearing your ignorant statements.

C'mon people those of us who are voting for CHANGE (Obama) ...well this is where and when it begins. Let us stop with the finger pointing and the attacks upon each other. There is a shift occcurring in the world... a shift from hate into love..into tolerance...into acceptance of who we truly are. Let us ALL be the CHANGE...it begins with us...it begins one person at a time...It begins NOW~

Bush/McCain Tax Plans= Redistributive Change upwards=Welfare for the richest 1% of the world.

Make no bones about it, unless you make 250,000k a year your after tax income will go down under McCain and the exact opposite if you make over that. And thats not my words or either candidates, its the Tax Policy Center's traditional evaluation. It's fact.

Florida never had problems until Jeb and the Republican's took over and stole the 2000 election. Voting is messed up because they can't win an election fair and square. Jeb might be gone this time but the republicans are still in control!

Redistributive change=free market capitalism (once again) the concept stolen by the priveleged and the unregulated growth of hedge funds------i pray they be so heavily regulated and transparent that every one of them is shuttered. I am a financial advisor who strongly supports Obama. Nice try, Florida shenanigans won't buy the election this time because the money to pay for them is probably stuck in a Lehman Brothers frozen, yet hedged, prime broker account. Jeez, what a PITY!

Leaving a set of voting candidates or proposition blank with no selection is not an "undervote". It is called abstaining! In most other countries one can choose NOT to vote for any candidate or proposition by leaving the selection blank.

Have you read the amendments on the Florida ballot? They are worded so poorly that people don't know what they're voting for. Of course people will leave them blank.

Shouldn't there be signs highlighting the importance of filling in the second page?

Shouldn't the people managing the polling station remind people (as they are given their ballot) to fill in the second page?

Battleground Voting Problems List

1) North Carolina
2) Virginia
3) Indiana
4) Florida

And since I couldn't leave a comment about Rove calling a victory for Obama, let me say this: more sneaky tactics to get voters to stay away from the polls. If you haven't voted, what are you waiting for? Make your voice heard!

Those of under the age of 65 and NATIVE to south Florida affectionately call our location "Heavens Waiting Room" So if the rest of you want to complain STOP letting YOUR relatives move down here! Because I can attest that it is older voters and volunteers who are screwing things up - AGAIN!

Not everywhere in Florida is nutz. We voted early in Titusville, waited in line maybe 15 minutes, voted, scanned our ballots and were outta there in less than 1/2 hour. And yes, we filled in both sides of the ballot. People, you have to remember!!! Florida is not Mickey Mouse and pretty beaches. It's as far south in the deep south as you can get. 'nuf said

Sorry, folks, but when you vote you have the right not to vote for any office or provision on the ballot. Nothing says you MUST vote on every issue. Back in the "old days" we used to call them "Bullet Ballots" when someone voted for only one race/question on a ballot form. The problem lies with the Florida design once again. You cannot keep putting these multi-page forms out and expect folks to get them right. Then again, California has up to 120 initiatives on their ballot this year (depending on where you are). How are you supposed to be aware of all of them enough to intelligently vote on them? Oh, that's right. The proponents of these issues don't want you to really know about them so the 50 people who vote for them won't be defeated by the 10 million who ignore the question!

It's amazing to see, watching in the UK, where as a 28 year old, I've voted in 2 national elections (2001 and 2005) and at least 6 local elections. Not once have I ever queued to vote here because the British people are pathetically apathetic when it comes to our democracy. Despite the usual problems in Florida and a few other places, you Americans should be very proud of what you're doing today - it's an example to the whole world to follow. And you know - your elections have been far more interesting than ours here in the UK. I'm rooting for Obama personally and I wish I could vote, but I'm a foreigner. Your choice will affect my country a great deal and the way I (and most Brits) see it is that Obama will make the world a safer and more peaceful place, through his skills of diplomacy, tact and his overall intellect.

Good luck to each candidate though on this Election Day; may the best man win. At least you guys have two good men running for the job!
