Bachmann survives 'anti-American' comments

NEW YORK (CNN) – She said she believed Sen. Barack Obama "may have anti-American views." But her views didn't cost Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann her seat in Minnesota's District 6.

She's beat Democratic challenger Elwyn "El" Tinklenberg.

Bachmann made national headlines after she said during a cable television interview that she believed Obama might have anti-American views. Bachmann suggested the news media investigate members of Congress for possibly having the same.

Those comments caused a storm of controversy and gave her once little-known rival fodder for his criticisms of Bachmann and for his fundraising appeals.
