It seems to me that many have found it easy to ignore the ideals and philosophies and embrace the personality and image of President elect Obama. He has certainly invested a lot of care and thought into that image and the results are undeniable. I think President elect Obama could be just a colossal disappointment, accomplishing little of what he has promised, but I doubt it. I think he will accomplish amazing things, things which will forever alter the course of our country and things for which many generations, not just Americans but people of many nations, will pay dearly.

I have read your comments and I see what I always see! You do not have an ideal as to what is going on. Some say God gave us Obama, some say he is not a Christian, some are saying he is black and some say he is white. Who cares! God did give us the ability to choose, wheather it is the right choice or not, look at Adam and Eve, they had a choice!! The answer is the majority made a choice, just as with President Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, etc. etc. Now we have to see if the majority made the right choice, very closely, and if so great, but if not, we have to stand united to correct it!! God and the devil gives us choices each day. As in the past we should "keep the Eagle eye" on the new President and act accordingly.
God bless America !
ps If all of you is so concerned about God and the United States of American, I expect to see you screaming about taking "In God We Trust" off our money and lets get prayer back into our schools, homes and business'
your fellow American

he and anyone can pray as they need/wish. Why this has to be even commented?
It is private thing to pray. So let it be. Some people just have to dissect, overanalyze. Where is your own life? Let others be free.

Congratulations President-Elect Barack Obama!
The United States finally stood up and showed the world that true democracy has finally landed on America's shores, and I could not be prouder of my country than I am at this moment!

The bitter (and obviously racists), hateful comments are of no consequence. People have sadly, always used God and their "Christian Faith" to spew hate. The same people who have a problem with a woman's right to choose and to deal with her faith and its' consequences, have no problem with wars: why else McSame?,and this has no business in the discussion about our soon-to-be President Barack Obama and his faith.

What you republicans bible-thumpin' "evangelicals" do in the name of your faith is shameful, and you will have to answer for your judgment ( remember that commandment?) one day when we all stand before God, or whatever name that we call when we pray.
Those who truly love God's word, see the good heart in this man. I will pray that God, the Father, will make him invisible to the snakes in the garden who profess to love life and the Lord, but as Satan's minions are always at the ready to spew hate and want to cause harm...,all in the name of loving God ,and caring about life.
These same people had no problem cheering Bush/Cheyney on while they drove this country and other parts of the world into total destruction!
False claims to love this country, and to care about the unborn, look like the bitter bleats of a small-minded, group who seems to think that the United States of America belongs to them alone, even though every single one of them are from a family of immigrants. Check your hate and racism, disguised as "Christians who love their country and the unborn" (but to HELL with them once they're born!), at the door and grow up!!!!! You like petty children, whining b/c you lost, while the world won!

CONGRATS AMERICA. MAYBE NOW THE WORLD WON'T DESPISE US FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!! OBAMA/BIDEN!!!

Barack Obama is not the Messiah that some of his supporters seem to think him to be. Neither is he the anti-Christ that some of his detractors claim him to be. I was glad to hear that he prayed with evangelical ministers before his victory speech. If he was only claiming to be a Christian to get elected, he would have dropped the act once the votes were counted. He may not believe exactly the same things that I do, but if he made a genuine commitment to Christ, God can use him in these perilous times. He can't live up to the expectations that have been set for him, no one could, but if he surrounds himself with wise advisers and seeks the face of God, the next 4 years may not be as bad as some McCain supporters fear. We all have a duty to pray for the president whether we always agree with him or not.

The comments on this blog are proof positive of how religion and now especially fundamental Christianity is ruining and morally corrupting this country and the world. Barack Obama is the leader for a new generation of Americans and all of you who are so frightened about, who knows what, I suggest you pray for yourselves to become students of the constitution of this country and understand that separation of church and state is not only stated in our constitution it is demanded.

Please don't say that it was God's will that Obama was elected. That is not an answer based on scripture. Obama was elected - and none of us know clearly that it is God's will. What we do know is that God can bring good out of any situation. And that should be our source of hope at this time.

Those on this blog who make something negative or cynical about Obama's pre-speech prayer will not discourage me. I have great hopes for Obama and for all of us in this country to follow his lead. I hope your lack of respect will dissolve as we change our culture.

To America:
Congratulations on electing the most inspirational, smart, thoughtful and hopeful man into the highest office in the world - President Elect Barack Obama. Please America, Unite and work together to make your country the leader it was before. I did not like the McCain/Palin ticket, but I have to give credit where credit is due - Sen. John McCain was gracious in defeat and I trust that he will work with President Elect Barack Obama. Good on you.

To President Elect Barack Obama:
Congratulations. You have made the world a better place.

I mean seriously people... Give the God thing a rest. We're not all a bunch of superstitious sheeple. Believe in yourselves and the people around you for a change. At least you can be 100% sure that they are real.
Believe in a book of fiction all you want, but STOP STUFFING IT DOWN MY THROAT!
Remember, the last time we mixed politics and religion, people got burned at the stake.

Luke- you talk about Christians should value life. that's so true. Pro-lifers (CONSERVATIVES) believe that if you are pro-choice you can't be a Christian. Does life begin and end at birth? You never talk about caring for the child after they are born by making sure they have food to eat, shelter, healthcare to stay alive and thrive,. You call that socialism. Life is not just being alive. Life is health, jfamily, joy, opportunity, etc. Also, so many conservatives favor the DEATH penalty. iS THAT PRO-LIFEI am so confused by your logic. It baffles me. Are you TRULY prolife? Are you a true Christian. Just seems hypocritical to me.

I voted for Mccain but I respect Obama and the people elected Obama. I give President Obama my full support. He is a decent American and I believe he will do what is best for the USA. We must all stand behind our president if we are to move ahead. If God is helping my brother beat disease then I know in my heart he will not abandon President Obama. God bless him, his family, all the American people, and the world.

Not President Yet. Before he was aloud to run everything was checked to ensure he was elgible. So DROP IT. Wether or not you or I like it he will be the next president. Now go cry yourself a river build a pretty littlebridge and get over it then if you still have any anger left over use it to burn your bridge.

Whether it be Bush, McCain, or Obama, I go about my daily life, working, taking care of my family, and doing my best with what I've got. The President if the President. On a day-by-day basis, he doesn't have much, if any, effect on my life. At least now Sen. Reid of Nevada can finally say he has a President. If I may use him as a role model, I can also claim now to NOT have a president, just like him, because I disagree with all that he is and does. Thanks Sen. Reid for being my role model

Everyone, just accept it. I supported and voted for John McCain but the people have spoken, and Barack Obama is our President. From this day forward, to do anything but support him in his efforts to lead the nation would be unforgivingly unpatriotic of us. Not to mention selfish, bitter and divisive. To read these posts is sad, because it seems many of my fellow McCain supporters would rather see our nation peril and "be proven right" than see it prosper and "be proven wrong". And you people call yourselves Christians and patriots? I urge all Americans to put our differences aside so we can secure our nation and protect our way of life.

I still don't see why this is such a "big event" for the country. Just because he is half black? There are plenty of blacks in high level jobs, including politics. Is this the only good reason to elect this guy? What are his qualifications? Nobody seems to know.

Hold onto your wallets, cuz this guy is going to suck away your wealth so that he can give public housing to illegals just like his auntie.

There is a lot of talk about hate in these posts. Hey maybe it's not hate, it's just intellegent people giving an opinion that this guy isn't suited for the job.

Any any black voter who voted for him because he is black, hey that is racist !!!!!! It's good enough for you but nobody else?

He's got a very strong socialist agenda and will attempt to quiet any dissenters in the ranks. Where have we seen this before? THINK people !!!!

I was encouraged that President Elect Obama asked for prayer before his acceptance speech and appearance. That is encouraging. Viewing it on TV, I had to admit it was very moving, and there was like a glow or peace about it. In my own experience, the Lord has often brought peace and something special in the atmosphere when invited. So kudos. Actually, this nation was conceived and founded by an overwhelming number of highly educated and fervent Christians who had no problem with public prayer. In fact, their problem was with government interference in their pursuit and expressions of faith.

I certainly will not be condemned for choosing to be free of any particular religion while the Constitution still govern's this land. As long as Mr. Obama does not try to rule with his religion, but use his personal faith, in private, for strength to make the best decisions, everything will be coolio!

It seems that there is alot of complaints from the media. It seems to stir up people negatively. We should appreciate the comfort and freedom that our military has established throughout history. We can find comfort after that disasterous day 9/11. We should be discerning and appreciating the freedom has been given to us from our current leadership. I hope and pray that we will continue to have this freedom under the new leadership. We can pray to the one and only true God. Remember, the Consitution was written up by men who believe in the one and true God. Remember: "In God we trust". Let freedom reign quoted by a familiar preacher and godly speaker.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! God used a CRISIS to bring about a CHANGE! Just the magnitude of what has happened in this world, not just America, boggles the mind. A great leader brings the people together in unity; a leader who divides, bring destruction. And, that is what happened with the present administration. But God has brought it to an end. Now, we can begin to heal from the wounds of prejudice, hate, injustice and fear. God has blessed America, now it is time that America blesses God! Be of good courage President Obama, for God is with you and with your family.

I hope that you will allow your grandmother in Kenya to attend the inaugural festivities and share in the joy of this great thing that has happened to her grandson.

"I'm confused. I understood "separation of church and state" to mean that the state cannot prevent or even discourage us from expressing our religion"

The issues arise when "religion" violates or conflicts with the laws of the land - which take precedence. For example, you cannot found a religion that says it is OK to smoke pot when pot illegal - that has been tried. History, even recent US history, is full of religious crackpots and lunatics - Charles Manson, Jim jones, Warren Jeffs, the hale bop comet people, the list goes on and on. This is whythere are supposed to be laws about it. And one only needs to look to Iraq to see what happens when church and state are not separated, and kids grow up being brainwashed into believing there are virgins waiting for them in a special place with Allah - if they just kill infidels.
The people who flew the plane sinto the WTC were very religious - they just don't agree with your definition of religion. Again, this is why there needs to be a separation.

And so should we all pray.

Lord bless our new President. Guide him, guard him, give him wisdom and strength.

In the Lord's name,

Amen.

I pray to God that the Holy Spirit would convict his heart to ban abortion and gay marriages. We can only depend on the one and only true King. Jesus Christ. Spiritually, I pray to God that Obama changes his extreme liberal ways and follow the true Kings word, the Holy Bible. Obama has the way to go and I hope he continues to seek counsel through God's word and not just the popular vote on man.

Obama may have been "elected" as our next president, but he still has one more thing to prove before actually becoming president. He must be a natural born, American citizen to be elected president. If he was born in Hawaii, like he says, then why doesn't he prove it by showing his birth certificate? What possible reason does he have to keep that from the American people? If he has nothing to hide, then just show us and get it over with!? Is it because he was actually born in Kenya, like his own grandmother has admitted? Or is it because the forfeiters are still making the finishing touches on the birth certificate. Those ACORN people sure do good work, I hear.

I have to laugh at all the liberal postings. You all think the great messiah can work miracles? It takes more than one person to get things done in politics. Even President Bush can't screw up the U.S.A. like most of you believe. All of you liberal trash that put down our President, should leave this country. I would bet most of you have not done one single thing to benefit this country, besides looking out for #1.

I'm sure every President has the U.S.A.'s best interest at heart. They have to make decisions that 99% of you babies, could never make and be able to sleep that night, knowing you did the best you could.
What disrespect you show for the most powerful person in the world.

Your messiah already in his speech last night, reading from a telepromter said he won't be able to work the miracles he has promised for the last 18 months. It's ok, all of you can blame Bush in 4 years, of course its all his fault.

Many of us middle Repulicans are looking forward to bashing your messiah. I'm looking forward to the time when i can place a bumper sticker on my car, that reads "Where's the change"? Shouldn't be too long now! The messiah takes office in 76 days. God help the U.S.A., we are gonna need it. Maybe Rev. Wright can say a prayer for the U.S.A?

We have been praying and believing that God's mantle of protection has been placed on President Obama and his family, for all the duration of his presidency. We are celibrating that the scourge of racism has been broken in this country.

God bless President Obama and his family!

" this country was founded by our fore fathers who believed in God. Therefore it was never their intent to not pray,"

..Nor was it their intent to force prayer or religion on those who don't want it. After all, they left a country where religion had been forced on them, and that was the whole reason they left. So - remember THAT!

Prayers are going out for strength, wisdom and healing.

I did not support him as President, and feel that John McCain would have been the truly heroic leader of this country, but the votes are counted and that is not to be. My children are watching and listening- and no matter what I may think of decisions that are made, they need to understand how much I respect the office of the President of the United States. I will respect and support Pres Obama, and I will pray for him and for all of us.

Maybe we can finally move to a time when our leaders are not the constant object of ridicule and rude humor , but of respect and care. I understand that many did not like Pres Bush- but that should not have allowed us to act as we did with name calling and constant ridicule. It was beneath who we are as a country to crush our President for a laugh. We all had serious disagreements with Pres Bush, but I didn't like the way we couldn't disagree without being so terribly personal and hateful. Pres Obama may do things some people disagree with, but I truly hope that we all handle ourselves with respect and kindness. That is one change I really will welcome.

Now let's move onward and clean things up!
