CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) – Will Senior Obama Campaign Strategist Robert Gibbs become Barack Obama's Press Secretary?

A high level source involved in the Obama transition team tells CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that as of this morning the offer to Gibbs of the Press Secretary's position has been discussed but that the job has not been formally offered yet.

CNN's Jessica Yellin is also hearing a similar message from another Obama transition source.
A very close friend of Gibb's on Capitol Hill tells CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that he's been told the job is a done deal and will be announced later today.

Gibbs steered the Obama Campaign's communications. He served as Communications Director in Obama's Senate office prior to joining the presidential campaign early last year, and he was a major player in the freshman senator's rise in the public eye.

Keith Olberman or Robert Gibbs – either would be a great choice if its Gibbs logical and best.

With a team in the White House as smart, skilled, and competent as the one on the campaign trial, we'll be in good hands.

That would be great news. Gibbs has proven himself over and over again these past few months, able to affably fend off even the most blunt and uncivil Republican attacks. He's a sure professional, and the kind of talent Obama has surrounded himself with already.

Good luck Bob! Go Obama-Biden! Go America!!

    Chris Matthews?
Gibb is such a bad lier but I guess if things were going wrong we would know by the experssion on Gibb's face.

But he does derserve the job. However, Bill Burton did give the smackdown to Faux News.

    Tough call.

Gibbs could be Press Secretary, but Obama should do the daily press briefings himself.

I think Robert Gibbs would be an excellent choice; I was very impressed with how he handled the media during Barack Obama's campaign. He appears to be a thoughtful, intelligent individual, just like all the people this ticket surrounded themselves with!

    Good luck, Mr. Gibbs.

Thankful to say, Pres. Elect Obama/V.P. Elect Biden!!

I like Gibbs and he would be good at it.

What did David Gergen do under the other Administrations that he was involved in? He would make a great addition to the Obama Administration.

Robert Gibbs did a great job for Obama's campaign so it's natural for him to take the job if he wishes.

President-elect Obama will unite the two parties by inviting Chuck Hagel and Robert Gates to his administration. I hope he will add General Petraeus and Powell to his cabinet list, too. It would be a shame to drop good people for partisanship.

Jon Stewart would be perfect for the job!

The most importain thing is that he tells us the truth, if it's
    bad or good news.
I am from abroad and live in the Netherlands.
Our exeptations are very high now Barack is elected.
I read on CNN and these blogs that he "have to put his
country first" and I think thats natural.
I also think that it is very importaint that he does everyting to
restore the connections with foreign countrys because that is in the interest of the USA also..
For instence, in the war in Afghanistan. He will intensify the troops
there and if needed fight over the border off Afghanistan.
We, the Dutch, are fighting with you overthere and we also lost
    young man.
What I hear from our soldiers who came back that the American
soldiers are acting very hard towards the Afghanistan civiliens.
The Dutch soldiers over there are praised by there relationbilding with the civiliens. So, if America wants to succeed in Afghanistan
they not only have to fight but also invest in the relationship with his
citicens. This also was and is the problem in Iraq.
When Barack gives attention to this I am sure that he will get more and more support from other countrys like France and Germany.
The problem is that the USA always try to implant her own way of living because that should be the only way. It is importaint to know and accept that there are cultural diferences that cannot be agnored.

I deeply hope and pray that Barack is able to implement this filosofy on the war in Aghanistan.

    (Sorry for my bad English).
