CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) – Will Senior Obama Campaign Strategist Robert Gibbs become Barack Obama's Press Secretary?

A high level source involved in the Obama transition team tells CNN Senior Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that as of this morning the offer to Gibbs of the Press Secretary's position has been discussed but that the job has not been formally offered yet.

CNN's Jessica Yellin is also hearing a similar message from another Obama transition source.
A very close friend of Gibb's on Capitol Hill tells CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that he's been told the job is a done deal and will be announced later today.

Gibbs steered the Obama Campaign's communications. He served as Communications Director in Obama's Senate office prior to joining the presidential campaign early last year, and he was a major player in the freshman senator's rise in the public eye.

Robert Gibbs is the best and only choice. He stands up to the media, has a great since of humor and is sincere in his talks!

Tell you what. We will learn to be gracious winners when the far right quits being such sore losers. Remember the "Sore-Loserman" signs you were all waving in 2000? Welcome to our world!

I would be more than happy to see Robert Gibbs in that position because he will look after the back of Barack Obama.Don't forget Robert stood by Barack's side when the going was tough and good and you should never turn your back on such kindness and great character.

I thought this was going to be Bi-Partisan Administration! Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman? If you want the Republicans to buy into supporting an Obama Presidency, try practicing what you preach. Nancy Pelosi ruined the bailout package in the house the first time by slamming Republicans on the floor. Republicans will resist a partisan Administration and start to curb their voting records for a 2012 Election. We are not Democrats and Republican any longer right? We are all Americans now! Follow the "Leaders" words and practice what he preached!

I love the fact that President Barack has so many good folks from his campaignthat he can trust and choose from so easily. I couldn't imagine any of Mccain's negative folks being used.

Seems to be appointing a lot of Jewish candidates. Could be because he's taking orders from that deceiver in the EU.

I think Robert Gibbs would be a wonderful choice. I watched him throughout the presidential campaign and he was always on his game. Love how he handled Nicole Wallace and Joe Scarborough on many occasions. Good luck to Mr. Gibbs! And to President Obama!!!

Seattle Sue – I disagree with you. The Bush P/S have for the most part been a lot like Palin was early on. Very trusting and not very bright. Only one who figured out he was being lied to and being asked to say things that were not true was Scott McClellen. I believe most were just ignorant pawns. Keep em dumb like GW was Cheney's philosophy.

  19. Smooth Barry, What have you done to the Market?

This insider stuff about Gibbs is small potatoes. The stock market has taken a huge hit two days straight since Obama was elected. Now that's news. Let's face it, Wall Street does not trust Obama to handle the economy!

  20. America loses

We are about to nearly half of this country simply for the sake of Change.

This guy will destroy anyone that disagrees with this administration. Is that really a good thing for America to no longer be allowed to debate issues? I say a resounding no.

This administration will expect us to be good little communists with tunnel vision. Emmanuel and Gibbs will make it the law to be submissive to their socialism.

Obama's campaign was run in fine style. If the the wit, intelligence, and savvy technological skills that were utilized during the campaign resonates during Obama's tenure then he will be on the right track.

Dear Show It Up – The REPUBLICANS are nothing but LIARS hence the reason why the economy is in the state that it's in NOW!!! We had to deal with Bush and his incompetence for 8 years. OBVIOUSLY neither Bush, McCain or Palin have anything on Barack when it comes to intelligence or anything else for that matter. Barack will bring us together as one nation indivisible...THATS AMERICA! If you can't stand the heat then get the heck out of the kitchen...you and all the HATERS!!! It's OUR time now...
