McCain sources gripe about Palin

Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin.
Some McCain advisers were frustrated by Palin.

(CNN) - Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin had prepared to deliver a concession speech before John McCain’s Tuesday night — and brought her remarks with her to his Phoenix concession - but senior McCain campaign adviser Steve Schmidt told her she could not.

Two McCain sources say Palin clearly did not understand the protocol of a concession speech, and expected she would have the chance to deliver one of her own.

Update: Palin camp fires back

McCain advisers were also upset with the Alaska governor for setting up what she thought was a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The call, which turned out to be a prank from Quebec radio hosts, was not cleared with the McCain campaign and some saw the effort to set it up as evidence of her future presidential ambitions.

A Palin ally involved in setting up the call, however, suggests McCain advisers had ample time to object given the call was on her schedule for three days.

Two McCain sources also say Palin did not know Africa was a continent and could not find it on a map. A third source, a Palin ally, says that was a miscommunication.

"Yes, but did you know that since Obama was elected, the Dow has had a two-day total loss of 928 points. The market has no faith in Obama to manage the economy. IS THIS THE CHANGE HE PROMISED?"

    A. He's not President as yet.

    B. The DOW has been going through a roller coaster ride for the past month.

    C. If you think that any President, Bush or Obama or the spirit of Ronald Reagan come back from the dead can suddenly wave their wand and send the DOW soaring, I suggest you put down the mushrooms.

No, the change he promised was to kick Bush back to texas where he belongs. Take the responsibility for the stock market where it belongs with the repuglican party who are even now vowing they will not participate in bipartisan negotiation with our new president. So much for country first, it should have said repuglicans first as always. Get over it, you are now in the minority, hope you enjoy your exile. As far as Palin,
Americans have a long memory, when she comes back she will be no smarter than she is now. She thought Africa was a country, and did not know Africa was a continent. Even my 8 year old grandson knows better. IQ Palin = 0

You know I love reading about this poor excuse for a woman that had hopes for a position well beyond what she is capable of. If she had truly been intelligent, she would have refused McCain based on the fact that she knew she did not know enough about the world outside of Alaska, about our great nation or even enough about the other countries in our world. I mean come on, people, everyone should at least know the continents...we're taught that in grade school.

Her mentality during this campaign was one of a small town girl. As she was put in positions of power, she should have been educating herself.

McCain's campaign was absolutely dreadful. No platform, no message, and changes in strategy every week. The fact that aides and staffers of that campaign are trying to point the finger at Palin is absolutely ridiculous. She is not the reason they failed and trying to use her as a scapegoat for their failure after an election is about as low a tactic I have ever seen. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen it before. I wouldn't vote for Palin for president, but after what she went through with the vicious left media and now the backstabbing right, she certainly has my respect.

Apart from her weak qualifications, I believe Gov. Palin would have been an ineffective Vice President because she does not understand protocol, pushes her own ambitions and is not a "team player." I wonder how her teammates regarded her on her high school basketball team.

I heard the prank call. It was hilarious.

Thank God the Wasilla Hillbillies have gone back to the hills. I don't think she'll be heard from anytime soon other than the funny election post-mortem stuff like this.

    Y'all don't come back 'round here, y'hear?

She didn't know that African was a continent ... she thought it was a country.

She thought South African was a region in the country of Africa .... Woah!

Now can you Palin fanatics admit she was not remotely qualified for the job?

  10. Obama is for UNITING of the PEOPLE

So much for Palin knowing anything about Political in the United States, or Alaska.

Todd ........ops.........Sarah really thought s/he was the REAL President candidate.......on TOP of the Republican ticket. Is this the FIRST election for the President that Sarah really knew anything about it’s procedures? Judging by her not knowing how things are done, explain why they both heavily participate in the group that is determine to DIVIDE Alaska from United States.

So now it is TOLD that Sarah (Todd) went on a family SHOPPING SPREE and SPEND more then what had been told to the voters.....

I hope she runs in 2012, we want to KEEP the Demarcated majority in the White House, and she is the one that will ensure us that WISH.

MarK PDX: I am a Democrat and as a woman I will be respectful to Palin BUT can't you see that even the GOP is giving her a hard time, or have you misplaced your "peepers"? I understand that she did not know that Africa was a continent and if that is true she is definitely bad news. Look at Smooth Barry! He is beating up on Obama because the Dow just dropped. Smooth Barry just woke up on the rough side and thought that Obama was the president since last year.

There is no need to gripe now. This is what happen when you don't properly vet your VP pick. Also, to be honest this is what McCain deserve. His motives for picking Sarah Palin were not RIGHT and it backfired on him. He used her and she used him, they really do deserve each other.

@Smooth Barry; the loss of 928 points on the DOW has absolutely nothing to do with President Elect Obama. Where have you been the last two months – in a cave? If you want to blame a president, blame President Bush. As for Gov. Palin, I've had no time in the "political arena" and I knew more than she did. Heck, my 15 year old daughter would have done better in that Katie Couric interview than Gov. Palin! I'm very relieved she's not our V.P.

Republicans are still clinging to this moron, even though she sunk their ticket! Good! They haven't learned anything. Palin appeals only to a radicalized fringe of the GOP, and that fringe cannot accept the fact that what excites them doesn't appeal to the rest of the country as a whole. They're doing everything they can to avoid facing that fact. And that's fine with me, because until they do face it, they'll be out of power. And, judging from the way they've run the country the past eight years, and the results we got, the longer they're marginalized, the better.

So, yeah, Palin 2012! Also known as "Barak gets handed a free second term."

Come listen to a story about a man named Jed ...

And then one day he was shootin' at some food ...

And up from the ground came a bubblin' crude...

Oil that is ... Black gold ... Texas Tea ....

  20. Tired of the Nonsense

To So-called "Smooth Barry" more like Clueless Barry –

Hello????? Did you just happen to notice that the market has been tanking for the past few weeks nonstop????? Did you also happen to hear that Lehman Bros, Bear Stearns and AIG have all either folded or have been bailed out of bankruptcy????

Obama was still campaigning when the economic crisis reached it's peak and is still going through horrendous losses.....how on Earth can you blame the greediness of Wall St. fat cats (who are the REAL reason for this mess) on the President Elect???

You are obviously one of those ignorant, trailer park Mccain/Palin supporters who are still upset that you guys lost by a landslide......do yourself a favor and get over it. You sound ridiculous.

Let me just remind that McCain had few point lead when DOW started dropping. Obama got his lead after whole mess happened! Amazing how Republicans blame anyone but themselves! Clinton is gulty, Obama is gulty, but not Bush of course... Let me remind you that Bush was in the ofice for 8 years and he had Republican majority for 6 years... Now everybody, please, wipe your own butts... Thank you

This must be a joke! Bringing her own notes to a Presidential concession? It seems she has a very inflated view of herself, and absolutely no clue as to how business is conducted. Unreal!

Even though her comments were in no way appropriate, is anyone else a little interested, just for fun, to see what she wanted to say? Just imagining it makes me laugh.

And what is this she said in Alaska today? It was something like McCain being the leader in the Senate!? Does she even know what she is talking about? Come on!
