I voted for Obama. That said I had great admiration for McCain in the past. However his choice for VP honestly makes me wonder about his mental condition. Early dementia, perhaps? Seriously!! However, it's not that surprising when you see his trophy wife "Bimbette Barbie. Speaking of wardrobe, didn't she spend as much on her outfit for the convention as Palin did for the entire campaign. I wonder if those outfits will be donated? Let's just be grateful that neither The Maverick or The Moose Hunter will not be governing our country. Palin is politically uneducated, hate spewing and God help us if she elects herself to the Senate. I don't think that she has a long-term political future. I think that she is now damaged goods and it's because of her own actions ( who cares how many towels she did or did not have on). What's scary is the damage she's still in a position to do to Alaska and the fact that some people actually voted for her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. She reminds me of a woman who had a chance to rise in a company and then it was discovered that she had been promoted in the past because she was sleeping with her married boss. Not much of a chance left, Sarah. You simply should have said thank you, but I do not feel that I am qualified to accept your offer. BTW, if you can't manage your family, what makes you think that you're qualified to manage the United States? Please, please just leave the lower 48 alone and fade away-------------

I am very glad that Palin got what she deserved. She was spewing lies, smears, and hate the entire time she was running for VP. How such a hateful, manipulative, and deceitful woman as Palin can call herself a ‘Christian? She ignited hate and intolerance in people. When McCain/Palin campaign will explain the illegal use of the RNC/tax payers’ money (thousands of dollars in addition to $150,000 that the campaign paid for Sara Palin’s extravagant personal things? What about $22,800 for 2 weeks paid to Palin's traveling stylist, Amy Strozzi, who is a celebrity makeup artist? This ‘pit bull with lipstick’ has probably confused a political campaign with a beauty pageant. $22,800 for 2 weeks for Palin’s makeup?! A lot of families in this country make $22,800 or less per year! Yes, Sarah Palin is an anti-intellectual person (simply, stupid) but she is also arrogant, deceitful, and greedy. As one of the comments said: What a pathetic excuse for a mother and a human being! I feel sorry for her [Palin’s] children who have a lying, ignorant, backward mother.

I'm sorry, but Palin is not a strong woman. When it came to looking for a strong leader, she was (is) an idiot. I have no problem voting for strong women – I have done it many times, for many different offices. I have worked for women that I greatly respected. But I expect a minimum level of intelligence and ability in women as well as men.

Palin, however, did not have the experience Obama had. Obama had built up more experience just running his campaign than Palin did in all her years as Mayor of Wasilla (especially since someone else had to be brought in to handle the day to day administrative tasks) or her 18 months as Governor. But it isn't EXPERIENCE that was the problem. It was the absence of sound judgement and nation political knowledge. Palin was severely lacking in both.

I have no doubt that she is a good mother, that she cares and means well, but her actions during the campaign – especially her lies and divisive calls to supporters that led to rising hate speech and calls for violence from those same supporters – means that she has not earned, nor does she deserve, my respect. Her comments since the election have been cordial and conciliatory, but it is too little, too late.

The best thing she could do for herself, her party and her country is to return to Alaska and never return to national politics.

The people of America choose pragmatism against ideology, unity against divide, HATE(racism). Actually, Hillary is a great example of a powerful (and intelligent) woman in politics. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has shown many times that her knowlege of world politics (and the world around her in general) is lacking.

We're not attacking her for being a woman, we're attacking her for being so close to the highest office without being qualified. She should have recognized her inability to lead the country effectively and stepped aside for a more-qualified individual instead of ignorantly claiming she had the experience and foreign affairs knowlege needed. She wasn't humble at all.

Don't be surprised if she forces Ted Stevens to resign as Alaska Senator and then appoints herself (or God forbid, her "first dude" husband") to the Senator's position. That way she can keep her name in the public and milk the taxpayers for some more money.

Anyone who is a true Obama supporter (in my opinion) will see this as wrong. I voted for Obama, was involved in "getting out the vote" for him and truly believe in him as our leader.

But, I believe the attacks on Sarah Palin are just as wrong as the attacks on Barack Obama. Maybe she was doing what the McCain camp told her to, maybe not. Too many people have their version of the story. Either way. Wrong is wrong.

I see "invisible" people making comments to help themselves. This is not helping anyone, especially the Republican party. If it was wrong to attack Barack, then, it is wrong to blame/attack Sarah Palin. Morals??!! You have to be the change you want to see and show leadership even in the face of stupidity.

What I really don't understand now is the blind trust that people who supported her still have. It's one thing to support your candidate, and that's admirable. It's entirely another to discount all evidence to incompetence, lack of truthfulness and knowledge, and continue to support someone who, while they may be very nice and personable, is not fit for the job they were presented with.

Further, if she runs for President in 2012, all of this will be remembered and brought up. Supporting Palin for the next 4 years will certainly mean 8 years of an Obama presidency.

Sarah Palin is unethical, attempting to use the clout of her office to get her former brother-in-law fired.

Please don't make Sarah Palin out to be some patriotic person who loves her country and was willing to make sacrifices for the common good.

She is all about shameless self-promotion.

Thank God she and McCain lost. They were not good for America. They were/are too mean, too evil, and too devisive.

You know, Becky from the Midwest, I find it amusing that you manage to disparage a significant portion of the population (and I mean Men) by stating, without having spoken to or having even a modicum of evidence, that all men voted against Hillary and the McCain/Palin ticket simply because of their position in the reproductive cycle. It can't possibly be because they felt that Hillary Clinton was playing far too fast and loose with the truth (and getting her covers yanked), and after having suffered through 8 years of same, believed that the nation and the world deserved better. It couldn't possibly be because many felt that McCain had a much larger role in the current financial crisis than befits a person who's trying to convince the electorate that he knew what he was doing.

Of course, this is all guess work. At least I am honest enough to admit that it is.

It's hard to question the truth of these stories, because throughout the campaign, the indications were all there. Sarah Palin embodies a combination of arrogance and ignorance - on steroids. She's a fiscal disaster, leaving Wasilla in a huge financial hole, and by all reports she's now done the same to Alaska, especially with the price of oil dropping dramatically. Don't be at all surprised to see her replace Ted Stevens should he survive the still contested election. That way she can leave all the fiscal problems to her Lieutenant Governor and move on to greener political pastures in the Senate (which she thought she would be in charge of as VP) . Her scorched earth policy should be a concern for all. Of all the stories, you just have to believe the description of "Wasilla hillbillies looting Nieman Marcus from coast to coast" is dead on. From day one, she seemed to truly be double-wide material. Sarah, if you're smart (and most of us can sadly see you aren't) , you will just quietly fade away from politics.

What's most telling is the old saw of trying to portray her as stupid. Anyone who has spent any amount of time knows this is not true. That tack was attempted on every successful conservative in history, noteably, Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Clarence Thomas. Another old trick liberals pull out is invective. If you can't beat their argument, call them names! This had been used on every conservative and even not-liberal-enough Republicans throughout the years. If you can't beat their argument, make fun of their looks, or children. Nice people, right? The USA no longer has a free press as such. It's too bad, really. These comment sections are a symptom of it. Obama supporting sites flood every story with anti-GOP and anti-conservative rhetoric. It would be nice to have real conversations with real people here but that ended a long time ago.

Everybody blames Mccain and the GOP for selecting her, but it seems everybody forgets one thing, she could have refused the selection. It seems that her ego would not let her turn down this oppurtunity. She should have known where her experience level was and realized that she would not be prepared for the position. She has to accept part of the blame for being hammered by her opponents. To paraphrase the line from Top Gun...Her ego wrote checks that she wasn't prepared to cover.

Actually, the problem with Palin falls exactly at the feet of McCain for President headquarters. He picked her, he vetted her (if in fact she was ever vetted) and he pushed her into the limelight before talking to her so he knew at least she knew minimal geography. His choice of Palin says far more about McCain than it ever could about Palin. It was up to McCain to vet her and he flunked out. John is the one who is it!
