I'd like to see Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense and Bill Richardson as Secretary of State.

I wish Edwards hadn't screwed up – he would've been great for Attorney General. He obviously still qualified, but personally has too much baggage. Maybe 10 or 15 yrs down the road.

John Kerry probably deserves something since he helped introduce the world to Obama, but not sure what.

Kerry is good senator but not qualified to be Secretary of States, i agree he will veer off at times, not what we need. Maybe some some soon-to-be-chosen veterans can do 1 year while incorporate and train new talents for the jobs for the last 3 years. we need experience at a time like this but new talents are necessary to bring more change to our country.

I have a very difficult time trusting politicians, in general. But, if Obama wants to see an increase unified support, he has to forget who has "R" or "D" by his/her name and truly choose the best for the position at hand. This would also eliminate a lot of "scapegoating". As a Republican, I believe Bush's biggest mistakes were because of the people he placed in key positions. Many of his decisions were from the heart, not from the head. I do believe Bush's intentions have always been for the betterment of our country. He dealt with a lot of crap that no one person or party can be targeted for full blame.

To all of you who keep claiming Obama is a socialist, would you please READ something about socialism, or READ Marxism, before you start labeling Obama? He ran (and was elected) on standard Democratic party principles--which advocate taxing the "haves" more to provide more social programs and supports for the "have-nots." When you call him a Socialist or a Marxist (and there is a BIG difference), you're just parroting what a bunch of conservative pundits spoon-fed you. If you don't like Obama's politics, fine--but your sloppy use of the terms just makes you look silly and uneducated.

Social programs do NOT equal socialism. You need to read and understand what socialism is before you go spouting off at the mouth. Using the word "socialism" was a campaign tactic by McCain to ignite fear and anger, but it was a terribly inaccurate use of the word and the concepts it represents.

And before you go blabbering about the tax system, recognize that we have a graduated tax. We have had one for a VERY long time. Re-adjusting the percentages of the taxes in each tier is all Obama has suggested. In fact, it is also what McCain suggested. The only difference is that McCain wanted to adjust them downwards across the board (but leave it a graduated tax system) and Obama wants to adjust some down and some upwards.

Think before you speak.

I think Bill Clinton would be the best, but Obama would have fun controlling him. My choice is Richardson, but Hal Holbrooke is a good choice. I think the best place for Hillary Clinton is majority leader of the Senate. Boy, she'd get that place in order real fast! Attorney General might be another interesting place for Hillary. For Treasury lets go for the best: Nobel Laureate, Paul Krugman.

Obama is too smart to pick Kerry. Hagel has a much better chance because he's less ideological and more no-nonsense. Also, because Hagel is a Republican, he can be tough with his own party while giving Obama the bi-partisanship he wants. That will be Obama's style.

I don't know about other Obama supporters, but for myself, two of the things that I found most influential in my decision to vote for him was his intelligence and his JUDGEMENT. Therefore, I don't think he needs our suggestions or advice on selecting his cabinet members.

I will admit I would like to see Colin Powell and Chuck Hagel used in some capacity, but that is entirely President-elect Obama's decision.

At this moment I'm only interested in supporting him in any way possible.

My picks are that Hillary Clinton should be Attorney General and bring respect back to the Dept. of Justice. Jim Webb for Secretary of Defense or head of Veterans Affairs. Colin Powell or Hagel for Secretary of State. John McCain would do well heading up a post where he can fight porkbarrel spending but don't let him near a lobbyist. Janet Napolitano should be in there somewhere, too.

I would love to see Jill Biden as Education Secretary.

Democrats currently serving in the house or senate should stay where they are. Giving up that seat makes it vulnerable in the next election cycle. There are plenty of qualified candidates to choose from that won't risk our majorities in congress.

John Kerry as secretary of defense? You've got to be kidding. He qualifies as secretary of defense because he served in Vietnam on a swift boat? Thats almost as bad as John McCain being qualified to be president because he was a POW. The only thing Kerry is qualified to do is spend his wifes fortune-almost like McCain. Colin Powell would be a much better choice. Someone with a higher military background and a clear understanding for defense needs to fill this position. Not another elite rich politician who married into money.
