Barack and Michelle Obama leave their daughters' school Friday after a parent-teacher conference.

(CNN) – He meets with his team of economic advisers and then holds his first news conference as President-elect, but for Barack Obama, the day started with a more personal duty, that of father.

The Obama Transition Office announced this morning that the President-elect would start his day, along with his wife Michelle, by attending a parent teacher conference at his daughters' school in Chicago. Sure enough, the soon-to-be first couple were seen exiting his daughters' school with papers in tow.

Daughters Malia and Sasha are students at the University of Chicago's Lab School.

Great! Barack and Michelle are real ordinary citizens who just happen to be The President and First Lady. Wow! I love how active they are with the kids. It reminds me of the days of JFK. This is awesome. Can't wait for Ex President Bush to get out and The Obama's move into the White House.

That's a positive role model the world going crazy around him and he still makes time for his children. If this is the type of character this man has we have pick a good leader.

Those teachers better beware. If his kids don't get glowing reports, the Obamabots will rip them to shreds.

Why is this on the Ticker? All parents should (most do, I hope) attend parent-teacher conferences. CNN, please don't tell me that this is what it's going to be like.....covering non-important stories. I have been a OBAMA supporter from day one. However, this isn't news!

The more I see of this guy, the better I like him. He so obviously loves his wife and his children. Nothing phony. I expect him to be a fantastic president. We must not forget that the nation he rules now is not the same as when he bagan his campaign and he might not be able to do all the things he wanted. At least not right away.

I'm glad to know he still knows what's most important "family". Because when his terms are over, all the bright lights have faded to dark and all the adorning fans are gone his family will there to provide the love and care one really needs to be happy and whole.

  25. You don't get it? Srsly?

This is the ticker. It's all fluff pieces, Get it now?

Anyway, Obama will be both a great President and a great father-figure. I'm glad he isn't giving in to the bitter Jesse Jackson's of the world. Hate, Rage, Anger, and Fear aren't Family Values, and Obama knows it.
