Bushes welcome Obamas to White House

President Bush and Laura Bush welcome Barack and Michelle Obama to the White House on Monday.

(CNN) – President Bush and first lady Laura Bush welcomed President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, to the White House on Monday afternoon.

Bush and Obama held a private meeting in the Oval Office, while the first lady gave the incoming first lady a tour of the residence.

The president and president-elect walked together along the colonnade by the Rose Garden before entering the Oval Office together. They briefly waved to reporters along the way.

Obama and Bush were not expected to speak on camera following their meeting.

An aide to Obama said they were "going to let the pictures speak for themselves."

The two met in the Oval Office for just over an hour. When President George H.W. Bush hosted President-elect Bill Clinton after the 1992 election, the two talked for nearly two hours.

Monday's meeting was a historic formality, but it was also a time for serious talks. It marked the first time that Obama has visited the Oval Office.

    JUST A THOUGHT . . .

In the photo above, the Obama's are smiling because they are moving into their dream home,

The Bush's are smiling because they can get out of dodge while turning over the keys to a house that is under foreclosure.

ONE MAN'S FORECLOSURE IS ANOTHER MAN'S PALACE.

And that would mean you tolerate libs? Because, I'm kind of thinking you are a hypocrite if I understand the context of your content correctly.

Oh well, hypocracy is actually one of the fundamental reasons in being proud of a vile nature.

Are you dumb people for REAL?

    Your talking about Michelles dress?????
Who the frick cares what she wears, who care what anyone wears??????

My god people, this dumb country just elected a glorified commuunity organizer to run our affairs. And your worried about what Michelle is wearing??????

What are you people, all 16 year old girls wondering what to wear to the prom this year?

Your all exactly the mindless, no common sense people who elected the smooth talking so called messiah.

I hope your all worried about what the first lady is wearing when you lose your job, then have to buy your own clothes at the Goodwill store.
Let me hear you worry about her dress when he takes you hard earned tax dollars and gives it to people to lazy to work hard for a living.

    STUPID PEOPLE,,,

    FOR JOHN ASHLEY's QUOTE:
"No attack for the last seven years. You should be thankful, I hope we have someone smart enough to continue this trend."
    – – –

Soon after Clinton took the White House from Bush-41, the nation experienced its first Trade Center attack in 1993. The next New York attack came eight years later during Bush-43 reign. So Clinton kept us safe for 8-years, and Bush is only up to 7-years.

So what is your point John Ashely?

Michelle Obama looks great, Laura Bush looks nice and both President Bush and Presdient-elect Obama look nice. What the hell is the problem? Stop hating and being so jealous, Michelle can wear what the hell she wants to wear, she is tall has a beautiful figure and a very very good looking husband, so all you B's can probably kiss her A$$, she dosen't care about you stupid no education having females who really want her man. Get lost and by the way it will soon be the beautiful FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA.

GO GIRL WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT YOU YOU KNOW YOU GOT IT GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone please take Mrs Obama aside and deal with her unfortunate choices of wardrobe. She really ought to take her SHAPE into account, instead of trying to be "individual."

    Time usually improves these things.

Hopefully the Obama's don't get too attached to the place considering they're only going to be there for 4 years.

I'm surprised by the degree of semi-literacy evident in the comments related to this story. Maybe posters here should spend more time reading and less time looking at pictures.

Who cares about all this flash and trash (Obama and Bush)? All I care about right now is surviving the mess called our economy. And why should I bother working harder and earning more than $150K if it means more taxes with Obama? I'm ready to move to another country.

LAURA BOO YOUR AN IDIOT I WANT YOU TO READ WHAT YOU PUT HERE FOR EVERYONE TO READ. YOUR AN IDIOT THATS AS SIMPLY AS THAT. ARE YOU RELATED TO "JOE THE NO LICENSE HAVING MAKING UNDER 40K PLUMBER?

  18. Thankful

To Randy in Denver – Thank you for your service to our great nation ( a day early). I am impressed that 21 years in the Navy appears to have left you just as devoted to our country and its ideals as the day you enlisted. The decision to serve in the 80's was probably as great as it is now, though for starkly different reasons. I get sucked into reading these blogs and can't believe how people rant with hatred against a party or its leader, or worse, about people's looks and clothes. I voted for McCain and his lifetime of true, selfless service, yet I remain hopeful that Obama shares that same sense of duty to something greater than himself and leads the country forward.

Machelle is looking good – nice dress.

If Machelle wants to talked about for more then how she dresses, she will need to step up to the plate and use her position to make a dent in the world for good in her own way, such as getting the private sector to help returning vets.

Not really a fan of Obama voted for him because he was slightly less scary than McCain. Whats the fuss about the dress Michelle has on? I actually like it and think it looks better than the dress she had on last Tuesday.

Maybe it's time for the McCain camp to stop playing the blame game already. You lost. Let's make it old news and focus on the future.
