(CNN) - Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said that even though his party didn’t win the presidential election, he has at least one thing to be happy about.
“I can get back into the bedroom, so there's the big advantage,” the California governor said Sunday on CNN’s “Late Edition.”
Schwarzenegger, a leading Republican, is married to Maria Shriver, a member of the very Democratic Kennedy clan.
Shriver endorsed Barack Obama in February, just days after her husband announced his support of John McCain.
Schwarzenegger said his wife has been “gloating now for these last few days” and running around the house with a life-size cutout of Obama saying, “We won.”

Striking a more serious tone, Schwarzenegger said he doesn’t see how any incumbent party could have held onto power this year, given the economic situation and the housing crisis.
“I think no one knew that it's going to be that bad. I think the Republicans were trying to hold on to, you know, if it would have been just the housing crisis or the mortgage crisis. But then when the stock market crash came, I think it was just too much,” he said.
Looking to the future, Schwarzenegger said that Democrats and Republicans should come together and avoid getting stuck in ideology.
“Democrats and Republicans should do everything they can to help [Obama] and his administration to be successful, because when he is successful … then the nation is successful. And then the world is successful. So, we've all got to work together on this,” he said.

Lame....lame.....
You married a Kennedy. Isn't that bad enough. With all their dirty laundry and Obama's dirty laundry we ought to have an excellent run White House. HOORAY FOR THE IDIOTS WHO VOTED FOR HIM.
I saw the interview with the Gov. yesterday with John King, and was quite impressed. And he's right. We need our representatives to work together. I'm sick of partisan politics and pro America vs. anti America. There's a greater cause here – the U.S.
Arnold?
Are you SURE you're a Republican? You sound too intelligent to be one.
Well said!!!
Yep, Arnie can get back into the bedroom. Unfortunately, millions of gays and lesbians in California can't. Bigots.
Who cares for his bedroom stories.. Just shut up governer.. it is over.
This guy is a living JOKE
Who cares what Schwarzenegger said? I have always disliked him but after he made fun of Obama’s physical appearance during McCain’s rally, I cannot stand him. Barack Obama looks like Michelangelo’s David as compared to Schwarzenegger. To me, Schwarzenegger looks like huge gorilla or bulldog. His muscles (thanks to steroids) do not make him good-looking or smart. I wish he would continue to play cheap roles in cheap movies and leave politics alone. Doesn’t California have somebody with brain to be their governor?
Elvera, Grandmother in Texas
Funny, I thought Arnold WENT BACK to his native Austria
Arnold Schwarzenegger's back in bed? So, we finally learn that Maria Shriver calls the shots both in the bedroom AND out! (A roll-playing variation of Democrats controlling the House and Senate perhaps?)
I love Maria Shriver!!! Arnold was out of line for his skinny leg comments. However, I knew that he nothing else to say about Obama so why not attack his bodily appearances.
I guess if Obama was spending his time as a body builder, than he would have been elected governor of Cali, too!!
Well said. Welcome back to the bedroom. I love Maria and you are back to being OK.
Obama needs to save those DHL jobs in Ohio.
Schwarzenegger has always been several cuts above the rest of the Republican leadership. Unlike them, actually wants good things for the country. They only want good things for themselves and their corporate sugar daddies.
It is the duty of the loyal opposition in these times to be more loyal than opposing. The country cannot indulge Conservatives who only want to use our political processes for their own enrichment and oppose anything and everything that does not result in a new stream of wealth to themselves (only).
Arnold, now we know you voted for Obama. He is right now is the time for the both parties to come together. The world needs help through this crisis. We pray that Obama leads with God in mind.
The Republicans simply can't face the facts their philosophies are not in touch with the needs of the country. The days of greed and right wing extremism are past and the religious right is just a burden on their party.
Unless someone or a group of their more sensible down to earth members takes over the purges the wackos and kooks from the party they will slowly fade into oblivion.
Oh, I thought he was talking about Prop 8...
As an ally (and child of a minister), I am totally appalled by those who would use religion to prevent others from having rights simply because of their own hatred/fear. Christ said NOTHING about a person's sexuality– and if we're going to start basing all laws in the US on the Old Testament, a whole lot of people are going to be in trouble.
Smart move Maria..,You should have kept him out of the bedroom until January 20th.
funny guy...
When Obama energizes people, who are not working, inspire them to work, stop the big labor unions that ask too much from companies, keep work and companies in America so there is work for people, stop the big executive bonus, the pattern of R. Reagan implemented, then we will be on the path to success!
I love this guy!!!
I don't understand how a woman as intelligent as Maria could have married such a bumbling idiot. He's a caveman. EEEEEEwww!
WHO CARES!!!! I mean, I like the Terminator...IN MOVIES!!! Otherwise, I really dont care much for him.
Yo!! ok now you agree Republicans didnt have a chance,,,No wonder you decided to make fun of Obama's skinny legs.......But dang he literally gave the Republican party a SLAM DUNK with the huge win ......I guess skinny legs can be dangerous too
Considering he has not keep his campaign promises in CA and is considering rausing sales taxes 1% to an average of over 9% in the state!!
An increase the the "car tax" or license fee that got his predessor recalled is being proposed by HIM. Yes Mr. Governor, you have terminated the CA economy.
