The question should be: do you think she can do the job. No one should be elected based on how likable they are. Look at what happened in 2000; we got a candidate who didn't know Social Security was federal program.

We should be voting on the idea of someone being able to do the job. Obama can do the job because he has the understanding and intellectual curiosity to explore options with minimal influence of ideology. Palin can't claim that.

49% - OMG, she's a has been !
What people won't do to try and destroy someone they simply don't understand. Why does this woman scare you so much
You all preach tolerance and understanding, how about a little practice?

Predicting who the Rep. nominee will be in 2012 is impossible. Just a year ago Hillary was a shoe-in for the Dems. 4 tears is an eternity in politics. In fact if Obama and the Dem. Congress don't rack up some real progress quickly, you can bet that the Reps. will take at least one house back in 2010 like they did after the first 2 years of Clinton's fiasco.

The Republican Party needs to start asking everyday citizens what is wrong with their party if they really want to find an answer. I have heard people within the party debating which direction to go and it scares me to hear that many of them want to go "more to the right". Excuse me but if you go any further to the right you are going to fall off the face of the earth. When I heard Sarah Palin say that she doesnt even believe in abortion in the case of rape or incest I thought.....IS SHE CRAZY????? Ask most women what they think of abortion, separation of church and state ,health care, deregulaion of wall street and the insurance industry and you will get an idea of where most americans think we should be on these issues. If the Republican party goes any further to the right I believe we will see that party fall apart. You have to remember that not EVERYONE in this country is an evangelical christian, you have Jews, catholics, mormons, muslims, wiccans ect. and the far right religious wing in this country need not be embraced so dearly by the Republicans as tho their way is the only way. You continue to embrace this ideology and this party is in for a world of hurt. But Im just a midwest mom who thinks that they need to ask americans what direction this party should take.

Palin appeared at a rally nearby. And as an Obama supporter, I was tempted to attend. There were two motives:

1. Morbid curiosity -- to see a live train wreck.

2. To get a sense of the crowd -- what kind of people would go to see her?

I stayed home.

But I hope the GOP embraces (and nominates) Palin - she will exemplify why the GOP is losing ground -- a shrinking anti-intellectual, xenophobic, party based largely on white evangelicals in the the rural South, Mountain West and Great Plaines (with Texas the only large state McCain carried). As such, she will be a modern Joan of Arc, leading a lost cause.

CNN, apparently you are not talking to enough people. Everyone I know is even more fired up and supportive of Gov. Palin than they were during the campaign. In fact, all the talk shows are trying to book her because of her populatiry. SHe is the future!

Many Republicans want her to run for President in 2012. All of the Democrats want her to run so that Obama wins re-election in a landslide.

Fear and hatred is all she has to sell. It didn't work in 2008. It won't work in 2012.

I can't believe all the talk going on about Palin in 2012. Gov. Palin represents all that is wrong with the Republican Party - extreme views, not fiscally conservative (don't forget the Bridge to Nowhere!), abused her power, etc.

The Republican Party needs to run as far, far away from Palin as they can get.

So, you know, like, keep on talkin' and that there mavericky suff that you do!

Palinoscopy continues. Her opinions are both ignorant and barbaric, and her voice could peel paint off a snowmobile. She cannot resist a camera, which leads me to speculate upon how many dodgy videos of her are tucked up under the First Dood's mattress, and she cannot keep from running her mouth.
The GOP will either explode trying to internalize her as a valid candidate, or split into two or three parties. Joe the Plumber could be her running mate.

She has some good qualities, and she's appealing to a lot of people. She's clearly not ready for the presidency or even the VP right now, but four years is a long time, and it could easily be eight. If she starts to prepare herself now, that might be enough time. Stranger things have happened. She's obviously alienated a lot of people as well who will never vote for her under any circumstances, and she represents a political philosophy many won't vote for even if she were as smart as Obama. But she doesn't need them. All she needs is 50%+1. If Bush, who is not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, could do it, she could, too.

No way would I ever consider voting for her as President...and I am an independent who has voted both parties at various times. I just don't think she knows how to tell the WHOLE TRUTH about anything she has done. It just seems that if the Republicans even think of running her in 2012 they might as well not even enter the race...it would be like entering a pet rock to swim against Michael Phelps!

Maybe if she is a senator she might learn the names of all the states after 6 weeks of roll calls.

Hilary may not have been overlay popiular but she has a brain and knows history and geography and how to get things done.

Palin's talent tops out at homecoming queen

IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A NORMAL, HARD WORKING, HONEST PERSON FINALLY RUN THIS COUNTRY.

I TRUST SARAH MORE THAN ANYONE IN CONGRESS.

WHY IS IT YOU HAVE TO LIE AND SPEECH YOURSELF TO THE TOP.

I GUARANTEE YOU IF SARAH WAS OUR PRESIDENT SHE WOULD SHAKE UP WASHINGTON.

THE FIRST THING SHE WOULD DO IS SEND PELOSI AND REID ON A ONE WAY TICKET OUT OF WASHINGTON.

She's a drag on us all...enough already. She should go about being governor of a state with fewer people than any of Ohio's major metropolitan areas, and focus on trying to get that state to live within it's means. With all of that oil money up there, and her avowed distaste for earmarks, she should immediately set about refusing any and all federal earmarks that come her way. Of course, she might have to dip into the "shared resources" (Marxist as that sounds!) that Alaskans get a check for every year to do that. But would it make a statement? You betcha!!!!

It would be interesting to see a breakout based on gender, age and education.

I guess what I am looking to find out is there some point where intelligence and education wins out over hormones in the case of men.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing about Sarah Palin. She lost. Move on CNN. Why are you continue to talk about her. She is not this super star CNN is trying to make her out to be. Why do we still have to hear about her. Give me a break CNN. If you love her some much, then move CNN to Alaska then you can talk about her all you want, but right now, my husband and I are sick of hearing about her. The election is over, she lost, we are happy now so please CNN stop trying to keep her in the spot light. When she was VeePee, she won't even talk to you guys, now she lost therefore, you want to keep give her all of this free cover. When not cover me?

I actually think Joe the (unlicensed, non-tax paying) plumber should be at the head of the ticket, with Palin as the VP. Maybe Tito the builder could be secretary of state, and Hank the angry, drunken dwarf could be the Chief of staff.

I get tickled at all the folks who voted left that call Palin dumb. Sure, she didn't come across as brilliant when interviewed by the main-stream. But if the main-stream media had a conservative bent, they could have just as easily made BO out to look flaky. I was in the minority of the country that voted for common sense, not welfare. Said another way, I would be more comfortable with a VP stacked up with common sense, than Biden, who is an "intellect."

Finally, most of you hate her because you are married to someone who is not as attractive. But hey, Maddow is quite handsome.

I am truly truly afraid for her running in 2012 or even 2016... the extreme right wing of the party will take over this country. We will go back to 1000 years with no human rights... ignore everything except churches... burn anyone who says "america is bad"... that's what it comes down too...

Can't intelligent people see the red flags of mental instability in this woman?
Sure she's got confidence, self esteem and good public speaking skills as a far as "selling herself" -not bad for a political aspirations, But she factually has a spotty education, limited experiences and does not come from a powerful family in which she might have gleened worldly exposure.
She acts invincible, like Super Man! She looks to God for self justification!
She is completely unaware of her own lack of articulation and connects only to those who are sadly, beneath her. If I had to guess, I'd say she's out of touch with her own capabilities and is on the thresh hold if personality or bi-polar disorder. SCARY!!!!

I wish that the media would ask her tough questions to let her either put up or shut up. Asking the same questions about her critics or her clothes will never expose what she does or doesn't know about the real world. The public is being fed a steady diet of he-said she-said nonsense. Now that Palin no longer has campaign talking points and appears to want a lot of media attention, let her answer the tough stuff. As she said during the campaign--it's time to take the gloves off (or put the heels on, whatever). So I'm asking the media to PLEASE ask her the tough questions, the questions about foreign and domestic policy that she was supposed to know about in her run for VP. Let's hear what she has to say now that the muzzle is off.

After attending to the economic woes of the country, President-elect Obama’s next priority should be education. Ignorance and bigotry need to be suppressed. Palin has confidence but she is sorely lacking in certain disciplines. As to Congressman Broun – he needs to be handed a good dictionary and given proper Civics lessons so that he does not confuse, Marxism, Facism, Socialism, etc., then ultimately place them in one bag.

President Elect Obama 'knows what he doesn't know.'

Gov. opportunist Palin...well, she doesn't know what she needs to know. Ah shucks, golly gee... like you know the Constitution, or maybe the separation of church and state, or maybe how to structure a sentence, or the difference between a country vs. continent, or foreign policy, or that inspiring unity through conscious intelligence is greater than inciting divisiveness through fear and hate. You know, the simple things that make our nation great.

Palin does exemplify or embody the character of a great leader. She's a politician thriving on the adrenaline rush of national media attention, and the hordes of adoring fans gathering at her hate rallies. But she'll never be qualified to lead this nation.

And frankly, I welcome the day when the media gives us a rest from her tired story, that annoyingly shrill voice, as well as the idiocy and mediocrity of leadership being heralded as the future of the GOP.

Enough of Palin! She sits there and calls all these other people names and almost everything she says is also true about her.
How many lies did she tell over and over on the campaign trail.
I hope her ego and over exposure put an end to all this nonsense.
She is truly a master politician.

This woman is uneducated and ignorant and resorts to name calling to belittle others in an attempt to avoid people seeing through her. You lead by example and Palin has proven she is not ready to lead our children and the rest of the country forward. Palin can't relate to our childrens future in science and math when she nor her husband have aspired to attain higher education.

This is the reason I no longer watch 24 hour news shows. I am sick, sick, sick of hearing anything about this woman. She is the worst kind of opportunist. Completely ignorant but a real marvel of double speak.. Which of her 4 or 5 colleges did she get that degree from? It's almost painful to listen to her go on and on but not say anything at all intelligent.

Move on already! Is there no other news to report? It seems as though the media is just stuck on Palin to generate ratings because the election was so good to them. I'm over her. The race is over. Enough with the instigating. Enough with the free press for Palin. I don't recall any VP candidate getting so much attention after losing an election. Did Geraldine Ferraro get this much attention? MOVE ON!!

It's curious to me that the same "gotcha" journalists that were being blasted as bullies—not even one month ago—are now being courted for interviews and "her side of the story" by this sorry excuse for a public figure. I guess memories really are that short.

clean up washington November 12th, 2008 12:26 pm ET
Good luck to Palin. But going back to the comment by the Georgia congressman regarding marxist views etc, it seems time has come to demand all Congressmen take a course in: 1) U.S. Constitution 2) History of the United States; 3) European History; 4) Geography and 5) How to Keep quiet if in doubt of your abilities in the aforementioned areas.

in response: careful what you wish for. if every voter was forced to take courses that you recommend, you dems would never be elected to any position in government.
