The Cheneys and Bidens met Thursday.
The Cheneys and Bidens met Thursday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Vice President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill arrived at their future home at Washington's Naval Observatory Thursday afternoon and were greeted as they exited their black SUV by its current residents, Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne.

The couples shook hands as Mrs. Cheney arranged the photo-op on the front porch, telling Mrs. Biden, “Now Jill, I was told that you were to be in the middle.”

As the foursome headed inside for what was billed as a private meeting followed by a tour of the mansion, a reporter asked Biden if he had been there before.

“I’ve been on the ground floor a couple times,” Biden responded.

Afterwards, a spokeswoman for the vice president wrote in a statement that the meeting lasted 50 minutes and that "it was a good visit."

"Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne were pleased to welcome Vice President-elect Biden and his wife Jill to the Naval Observatory this afternoon," said spokeswoman Megan Mitchell. "It was a good visit. The Cheneys enjoyed giving the Bidens a tour of the residence and wished them well as they make it their home in January."

A spokesperson for Biden also said the visit went well.

"The Vice President-elect and Dr. Jill Biden met with Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne at the Naval Observatory this evening. The Bidens thank the Cheneys for welcoming them into their home and for their gracious hospitality," said spokesperson for the Vice President-elect Elizabeth Alexander.

Chances are most of Biden's visits to the residence did not come over the past eight years. The future vice president has been a regular and fervent critic of Cheney, calling him “the most dangerous vice president probably in American history” at the vice presidential debate in early October.

In that same debate, Biden accused Cheney of not understanding that constitution says the job of VP falls under the Executive Branch. In his speech at the Democratic convention, he also joked about Cheney’s understanding of the document.

“For every American who is trying to do the right thing, for all those people in government who are honoring the pledge to uphold the law and honor the Constitution,” Biden said. “No longer will you hear the eight most-dreaded words in the English language, ‘The vice president’s office is on the phone.’”

The Delaware senator also couldn’t resist poking fun at the vice president when campaigning at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington in mid-October.

“I want to thank you for making this stadium today change, temporarily changing the name from Cheney Stadium to Obama-Biden Stadium for the day,” said Biden. “Besides, if it was Cheney Stadium, we’d be at an undisclosed location. You’d never have been able to find us.”

Biden used Cheney’s November 1 speech in support of John McCain and Sarah Palin to further the Democratic ticket’s case that their Republican opponents would continue the current administration’s failed policies, saying, “It’s not surprising. Dick Cheney has been wrong on everything for the last eight years, he’s on a roll.”

Cheney took on a far more powerful role as vice president than his predecessors had. Biden has said that he hopes to be a ‘confidante’ to president-elect Barack Obama, in the room for the important decisions and offering his judgment.

As for his new home: Biden has said he will still regularly go home to Delaware, though his grandchildren who live nearby in Washington are excited about the move because the new house has a pool.

WHY IS IT THAT WHEN V.P. ELECT JOE BIDEN IS BEING GIVEN A TOUR OF HIS NEW RESIDENTIAL PALACE......THE CAMERAS DON'T SHOW ON T.V. THE ROOMS COMPARED TO PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA. THE MEDIA SHOWED ALL OBAMA'S PRIVACY BY SHOWING THE BEDROOMS OF WHERE THEY WILL BE STAYING......AND THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN HISTORY, BUT YET THE MEDIA DIDN'T SHOW BIDEN'S BEDROOMS......THAT'S NOT RIGHT AT ALL

Kevin   November 14th, 2008 12:42 am ET

God. Duhbama and Biden. What a joke.

Why isn't the Christian right on the warpath about the Cheney's lesbian daughter having a child? Isn't that part of their mantra that gay couples should be prohibited from having or adopting children. So they should be marching to the Cheney residence with torches and pitchforks. Could it be some of that typical Republican hypocrisy?

Tom   November 14th, 2008 12:21 am ET

The hair plugged buffoon and serial plagiarist has a perfect record of being on the wrong side of every issue critical to the United States. He was on the wrong side of every issue during the Cold War. He was on the wrong side of Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. He was on the wrong side of America's liberation of Kuwait. He was on the wrong side of America's liberation of Iraq. The poor fool makes communist Vice President Henry Wallace look like a genius.

if ever a couple who deserved each other its lynn and dick...these people exude venom in every fiber of their being...

as for the rest of the venomous snakes in the right wing lair that's occupied our consciousness for the last 8 years of a nightmarish hell, good riddance!... i firmly believe that dick cheney did hold an evil sway over W; W isn't a bad man, just stupid. Now Dick and Lynn, they're just plain E.V.I.L. unchristianlike people in THE BIGGEST WAY POSSIBLE!

JollyRoger...To Dan in Fl   November 14th, 2008 12:03 am ET

This is to Dan in Florida -
You can't possibly be a real Republican, trying to throw the economy in the Dem's face after Bush bankrupts the nation while letting the economy crumble to ruins. Look at the Bank's, Auto makers etc etc. They all survived the Great Depression, but without us moving toward Socialism, they'll all collapse, what a mess. So what did our guy McCain do – he picked Palin over Romney who actually had something real to offer our ticket! Give me a break! Reagan wouldn't even recognize this party at this point. We can't blame this on somebody else, but yes, things will get worse unless Obama is a miracle worker, but Sara Six Pack would not have had any answer's. People might not be happy with what happens the next four years, but they're as likely to vote for the Green Party as the GOP if the best we can offer is Palin!

I still have one, despite the best efforts of the morons you support. What is your excuse?

Socratessa   November 13th, 2008 11:47 pm ET

Well, CNN, to be absolutely fair, it should read: "The Vice President-elect and Dr. Jill Biden met with Vice President Cheney and Dr. Lynne Cheney ... " instead of " The Vice President-elect and Dr. Jill Biden met with Vice President Cheney and his wife Lynne ...." as you have written.

FYI – Lynne Cheney earned her Ph.D. with a specialization in 19th-Century British literature from the University of Wisconsin.

BTW, I am not a republican.

Peter (CA)   November 13th, 2008 11:33 pm ET

Gee "feels sorry"-

And all of this time I have felt sorry for you guys! So delusional to believe that the Republicans care about you. Well, they might if you're a CEO.

So delusional to believe they share your "values". Well, they might if your values include a belief in imperialism and a lack of regard of human life, as long as there is a means to the end.

So delusional to think that they believe in the future you do. Well, they might if you are willing to live in a future with a destroyed environment, poverty and famine for those who just were not "born lucky" enough, a bankrupt health care system and economy. A country divided by paranoia.

Yeah, I think I feel sorry for you.

Randy   November 13th, 2008 11:33 pm ET

Back the train up! I just found a million absentee ballots in the trunk of my car that didn't get counted, and every one of them are votes for McCain and Palin.

Rob   November 13th, 2008 11:22 pm ET

What? CNN (and essentially the entire mainstream media) acknowledge that Joe Biden exists?

For the last week I thought the Obama-Palin ticket won!

I think you a little confused.

I'm a liberal and personally, I feel like the 'victor', not the 'victim.'

These people (and I use the term loosely) cannot get out of Washington and away from governing OUR country fast enough for me. Cheney has been one of the most destructive VP's in history-–but he sure made his oil cronies and Halliburton buds so much richer at our expense. Still don't understand why republicans are not outraged at their pockets being robbed to grease the palms of Dick Cheney's cronies pockets.

anyone have a rattle snake? never mind i see there`s plenty of vipers to go around. do you people ever quit hating? do you ever stop and think about positive energy. you should your negativity had me start this post with"anyone have a rattle snake?" the election is over obama won. only through being positive will things get done. negativity will slow down and sludge up progress. and worse has been done in the name of freedom than cheney and bush. just so you folks can have the life you have. and on that note ....thanks to all of our service women and men.

Tim E   November 13th, 2008 10:59 pm ET

Did Dick show Joe his gun collection? Is there any chance Joe said "mine is bigger than yours?" Or maybe it was "you feel lucky?" How can a man walk into the home of the most dangerous whatever in the world? How can a man put his wife into the home of the most dangerous whatever in the world? Who does he think he is, Robert Redford?

Greg Hodges   November 13th, 2008 10:58 pm ET

My mother always taught me that if you have nothing good to say about someone; then say nothing at all. So Dick Cheney; I would just like to say ......... before you leave the stage; and Not ONE MINUTE too soon. As for Joe Biden; I wish him well; and congratulations on becoming the first Catholic V.P. in U.S. history. I am sure that Jack Kennedy is smiling somewhere. Thank God the world will not have to worry about a Darth Vader like character approving torture (and GOD knows what) behind the scenes for the next 4 years.

I will volunteer to help pack up the Cheney's belongs if they will leave D.C. before Thanksgiving. Then we would truly have something to be thankful for over the holidays.

Bob Reynolds   November 13th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Spending 50 minutes is a pretty short visit the future VP Estate. No love lost there with Biden's recent attacks on Cheney. If Obama is smart, he'll tell Joe to have a chat with Hateful Harry and Broomstick riding Nancy to tone dow the retoric, and stop asking for Bush and Cheney to be publicly flogged and hung from the gallows of the DNC. Already Reid and Pelosi are calling for a special prosicutor to investigate the Bush Administration. Then good ole Democrat Congressional Chair of the Banking and Finance Committee, Charlie Rengold is announcing that he is going to decrease defense spending, while Obama is calling to raise taxes, and send more troops to Afganistan to step up the heat on Bin Ladin and his Talaban terrorists. Then, Democrat and chair of the DBF Committee in the Senate, Chuck Schumer is asked by Fox News what he meant by saying he wanted to change laws restricting Unions from polling employees openly. Schumer boldly came out with his whiney voice ,"Union membership is down from 25% to 3%, and that makes Employers to strong. Schumer went on to say that he wants the law changed to eliminate the polocy of allowing for both managment and union representitives get thier equal time to present each of thier positions, and employees woud vote with a secret ballot. Schumer wants employees to vote openly in front of the union and its members. How disgusting these Left wing nut job representitives are. All Schumer is trying to do is join his leader Obama in thier partisan pay-backs to the Unions for helping get Obama elected.

Politics is a funny bird.

After all the name calling, Biden smiles and shakes Cheney;s hand like nothing every happen. Cheney smiles and greets Biden like nothing every happen.

Further obersvation on most comments-All the comment that I have read are mostly negative and not very respectful to either person. It a sad commnetay on our society when people lack manners and social grace.

It seems that there are a lot of angry people. It would be great to have those people channel all that energy into something creative.

ITSONNOW   November 13th, 2008 10:18 pm ET

Dick Cheney is the product of Washington politics at its worst. To say that politics are corrupt is defined by these people. Bush even said he was surprised how bad the game was really carried on in DC. Biden isnt as crafty a politician as Cheney but at least he isnt in the oil business. Guess its better fir Biden to wound with the lip than with a 12 gauge. Oh well pick your poison. Trading one career politician for another. Just what we need more politicians with pie in the sky starry eyed groupies!

Independent white female patriotic voter   November 13th, 2008 10:14 pm ET

I wish the Cheneys well! well over, well traveled far far away from Washington, well packed and well on their way. Can't wait till this administration is over!

Good luck and best wishes to the Bidens.

Jenn   November 13th, 2008 10:00 pm ET

How tall is Dick Cheney? I always thought he was a decent size but he looks small in comparison to Biden. And Jill is a lot prettier and seems much more pleasant to be around then Lynne Cheney! Hope they came away unscathed and not traumatized. They need an exorcism to be performed on that house. Hope there is no dead bodies in the basement, I bet that place is haunted and at the night the walls scream and drip with blood. Creepy.

Texas Teacher   November 13th, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Texas Teacher   November 13th, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Am I the only person who looks through the pictures of Bush in the articles tonight and sees a caricature of every image I have ever seen of the Christian devil? Right down to the pointed ears? Geesssh... weird.

Then look at the images of Obama.... almost angelic in comparison!

*shivers running down my spine* Maybe Bush is right... we are in the Last Days! He didn't say he was the Good Guy... only that he talks to God! :)

Yes, I agree, it would be awkward.... but that is the way it goes with every VP elect and President elect. And I agree with Biden, Cheney was dangerous. I suspect he still is!

Just as Bush, he wants as much money as he can get for himself and his cronnies. Call me a cynic, but I truly suspect they were in the process of working themselves into a dictatorship or something very close to that. McCain would have been the figure head like Bush... and Cheney would have been running things... along with daddy bush and the gang. It makes my hair stand on end when I say it. And, certainly, Palin would not have mattered one wit. She served her puspose as a mouth piece and, yes, an attack dog!!! If they did NOT know how unintelligent the woman was, I would be stunned to hear it!

THEY SAY SHE IS PHOTOGENIC, BUT LOST HER FILM. CAN YOU IMAGINE HER AS PREZ OR VP? WHAT DO THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT HAVE IN COMMON WITH HER? SHE USES THAT BABY AS A PAWN, NOT A GOOD MOM. AN UNCHRIST LIKE PERSON. USING WORDS LIKE MARXIST, HITLER, ATHIEST ETC. AGAINST R. OBAMA. I AM A CHRISTIAN AND WOULD NEVER SAY THAT ABOUT ANYONE. THE CHURCHES THAT GO FOR LIES LIKE THAT SHOULD NOT BE TAX FREE.
"COME ON CNN", WE ARE ALL DISGUSTED THAT YOU ARE STILL COVERING PALIN. THERE HAS TO BE BETTER THINGS TO COVER. DOES SHE THRILL YOU THAT MUCH?

Griff   November 13th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Got to love Joe!

Ted   November 13th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

That was probably interesting...

Ben in Dalla   November 13th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

It is remarkable that after a hard fought election and many acts the have altered the life in america not for the good, the principle leaders past and future can be civil to each other. It's a lesson for all

The Blessed One   November 13th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

I'm glad to see Biden avoided the trap floor door and .... dinner...

He's A Regualar Joe   November 13th, 2008 7:47 pm ET

If he ask you to go hunting, so no–just say no Joe.

Congrats on your new home, Joe Biden.

DanOregon   November 13th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

Boy – those statements by staffers sure reflect a lot of frozen smiles and discomfort. It reminds me of GW Bush referring to meetings as cordial, which I took to mean "pleasant because we didn't say what we really thought about the other."

Presley, MN   November 13th, 2008 7:45 pm ET

I'm so happy for the Bidens. I'm glad everything went well, and I wish them all the best in their new home. Great location in D.C. by the way.

Oh, and I hope they bring Momma Biden along with them. What a wonderful opportunity for her to live in D.C. and be close to her family and the Washington Obama excitement.

tyler w (portland, OR)   November 13th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

CHENEY/PALIN 2012!

hahahaahhahahahahahahhaha

steve r. from Wash st.   November 13th, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Good old boy Biden wanted to take one for the team and punch him a good one right in the chops. " I dare you take advantage of our hard working Americans like you did !!! WANT SO MORE ? !!!!

Moxie Gurl   November 13th, 2008 7:39 pm ET

Joe and Jill look fantastic. Watch your back Joe and Jill, don't eat or drink anything you didn't bring with you.

Will Joe's mom be moving in with them like the Obama's mom?

The first families are truly a mirror image of everyday real families. The Bushes and Cheney's were surreal.

Helen, NY   November 13th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

We will miss Cheney. We wish him well. These democrats are power-mongers. Biden is a joke. Barack is a bigger joke.

Helen, NY   November 13th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

We will miss Cheney. We suih him well. These democrats are power-mongers. Biden is a joke. Barack is a bigger joke.

Alisa May   November 13th, 2008 7:37 pm ET

Another anonymous source, what a coward. The fact CNN relies on anonymous sources shows their credibility. Why not report on facts instead of opinions by a jealous male governor.

Contessa   November 13th, 2008 7:36 pm ET

Talk about a 180 degree shift when it comes to the failing policies in Iraq and social issues here at home. The Bidens seem like such a pleasant couple. I hope the Cheneys don't leave their daughter Mary in the closet when they move......lol!

Major Wright   November 13th, 2008 7:36 pm ET

what is wrong with you people! I fear that our nation is further divided than it has ever been and I have never seen so much hatred. We are all Americans, lets support our current Adminstration (President Bush) and our future one as well (President Elect Obama).

James Hogue   November 13th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

After we experience four years of Biden running his mouth we will be longing again for the days of a Vice President who stays out of sight and keeps his mouth shut. At least Cheney is smart enough to think BEFORE he opens his mouth.

Steve, New York, New York   November 13th, 2008 7:32 pm ET

Wow – Cheney set a wonderful example, of how a US Vice President SHOULD NOT conduct oneself.

Thank you, Neo-Cons, for forcing McCain to pick Palin – maybe you guys are closet Obama supporters after all.

Frank Lee   November 13th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Did Joe really get a tour of the bunker?

PS – don't accept a hunting invitation from Darth.

Jeff   November 13th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

I found it a bit odd that this visit was arranged for a time of day (evening/night) that there would no natural light beaming through windows, etc, no possibility of the Biden's getting any vistas out the many windows of the house. Also, it seems odd that the Bidens were invited at a time that most folks would be having a meal, yet there is not mention of a mutual taking of a meal.

Its all very odd and seems very, very unhospitable. One can't blame the Cheneys of course for the many reasons mentioned in the article, however, it speaks volumes of the "help" the new administration might expect from Cheney...effectively NONE.

Go away Dick and shoot something other than your friends...

a brighter day   November 13th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

i love our new vice president. i can understand why the republicans are upset with palin, they are having to follow her around like a bunch of little puppies, why don't they stand up and say enough is enough, they are all 100 times more qualified than palin is, stand up for yourselves, thats what america wants. truth and honesty. do it for your party do it for america.

yen   November 13th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Well Cheny was a hardliner that is why he is voted out. It is so unfortunat,Obama/Biden have to undo most of the harm (if they could)done by the Bush/Cheny adminisration. They have a tough job !!!

Revolted   November 13th, 2008 7:25 pm ET

The poor Bidens are moving into a haunted house! The place is permeated with the essence of Dick!

Roy - Chicago IL   November 13th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Soon Dick will be free for that 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' sequel!! He's got the look down perfectly!!
Wonder if the Halliburton email has gone out yet??

Soccer Nana   November 13th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Great; now both the President-Elect and Vice President -Elect have visited their future homes!!

Janice Illinois   November 13th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

This should prove just how Duped we really are by politicians. Biden said some true but definitely cutting remarks about Cheney and there they all stand side by side. We are such suckers at times.

Perusing-Through   November 13th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

Be careful Joe. Don't go into the basement!!

Benz   November 13th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

A photo up of an angry man versus a man with most amazing and charming smiles that says everything wil be fine.
Joe Biden the man with the helpful smile.

Boo!!!, Scary, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Hope he was wearing a crucifix. Get out of there by midnight.

Meka   November 13th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

Joe Biden didn't lie ... Cheney IS the most dangerous person in American Politics!

Rorschach   November 13th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

If Biden shook hands with Cheney, he should count his fingers afterward.

FemiMommy   November 13th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

Look at how warm and friendly and... NORMAL Joe and Jill Biden look compared with the stiff, awkward, cold Cheneys. Bodes well for the future.

randy   November 13th, 2008 7:14 pm ET

LOL BRIAN G,SUGER LAND, TX . YOUR REALLY FUNNY SO YOU CAN KISS A RATTLESNAKE THAN MEET CHENEY WOW THATS HOW MUCH YOU HATE HIM,.

Griff   November 13th, 2008 7:14 pm ET

To Mr Dobb's again.. When you think you own the Market. Everybody else Changes Markets... The USA Needs the World... Or you Die.. No Coun6try is "Self Sufficient"... When "E Bay", sell Their Products to "E Bay"... Your going round in Circles..

The Stallion & The Champ vs. The Old Mule & Winky Half-baked Alaska   November 13th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

What a relief to finally be rid of these self-serving, indignant and self-righteous finger-pointing hypocrites otherwise known as the Cheneys. [Especially Lynn (with an "e")-behind-the-scenes-do-as-I-say-not-as I-do-biggest-hypocrite-of-the-last-eight-years].

Winton from Alaska   November 13th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

If deadly enemies on the American political scene can have "a good visit" why can't we meet with some of our real enemies and, in effect, agree to disagree but live amicably together in this world?
But this is just a funny thing about politics in the USA, you totally destroy your opponent then heap praises on them after the election, whether you won or lost.

Angie-OHIO   November 13th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

VP Biden don't turn your back on crazy cheney. cheney just pack your bags and hit the road along with your puppet bush. you both have destroyed this country. so be gone!!!!!!!!!!!!

jim   November 13th, 2008 7:08 pm ET

Cheney = nasty inhuman creature !!!!!!

Proud to be American   November 13th, 2008 7:07 pm ET

Joe and Jill don't look into Cheney eyes..... he is EVIL and I imagine him to look like Satan himself .... don't eat, drink and wash immediately. Okay I take it all back as that was just mean but it felt good writting and I am not gong to change the post .... just comment that it is in poor taste.... Cheeney was the VP of the US and I have to respect that but I do not respect or care for him as a man as he was the worst thing that happen in my years of life to our Country.... Never shall we be suckered into this type of Administration again.... God Bless our President and VP Elect and America!

Jon B   November 13th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

I wonder what was actually said in there?? Whatever it was I am guessing it was pretty boring.

Griff   November 13th, 2008 7:05 pm ET

To Lou Dobb's! Good, you can afford it AMERICA... Your first Comment me Dobbs... A few trillion Dollars is just about what you owe the rest of the World.. You Elected This Idiot Obama... The moment the rest of the World New Borack Obama was Taking over,,,,, Jan 2008.. You were in Trouble.. Now you have to li8ve with it... Don't expect the rest of the World to Bail you out!!

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   November 13th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

That look on Cheney's face is downright sinister.
Problem is, that is his normal look I think.
Either that, or as an offshot, Cheney thinking "I got all the incriminating stuff taken care of. So I'm good."

KLEE   November 13th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Look :) change is happening! don't worry – be happy!!

Will18E   November 13th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Hey Joe, if Dick invites to to go hunting, don't do it.

Biff   November 13th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

in a word..... eww.

those poor Bidens....

Linda   November 13th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

When are these people going to get out of the White House. The longer they remain, the bigger the mess.
I live in SC where our weconomy is a mess and the cuts are slicing in to the elation of a Democratic win.Sanford has taken his pen to hurt South Carolina and its people. The biggest thing is that the blinders are still on the people.I hope by the time Sanford is running again that the Dem.have a person who is bringing on the real needs of the people.

popeye   November 13th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Get Real:

Your post almost seems like a veiled threat to the Obama/Biden administration.

You'd better be careful or someone may be "bumpin" your butt in prison!

Howard Cox   November 13th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Do CNN reporters, anchor people have to sign papers swearing that they will not say or report anything positive about the Republican party or any of its members? I have noticed that everything political comes out in favor of the Democratic party or is often influnced in that direction by the comments of the CNN personell conducting the interview or program? I think CNN and all other news groups should report a fair and honest piece of news and not project their own opinion.

Mr. Lugo   November 13th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX – LOL I had a mouthful of food when I read your comment and just spat it out all over my keyboard......but so worth it.

Tariq   November 13th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Joe......I am your father......join me and together we shall rule the universe

Tony   November 13th, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Ooops, I meant Biden and his wife. It's been a long day!

bob   November 13th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Did he leave the keys?

Dave, Central Illinois   November 13th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Poor Cheney, having to put up with a BS artist like Biden. I wonder if Joe will enthrall them with his keen knowledge of history like FDR doing his fireside chats over TV in 1929.

Diggins   November 13th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

..Looks like one big happy family..

Patrick, Fairfield, CA   November 13th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

GET REAL, very funny comments!

GP   November 13th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

I was going to snark on Cheney......

Sleepless in MI   November 13th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

That's a great photo of Cheney. Looks like he's trying his hardest to crack a smile ... but just can't do it!

Patrick, Fairfield, CA   November 13th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

GET REAL

JL   November 13th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Did the Bidens make it out of the snake pit un-harmed?

Tony   November 13th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

I hope Cheney or is wife didn't plant microphones in either Barak or his wife's clothing.

I would definately want to de-bug after that encounter!

3strikes   November 13th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

badluck to you biden and while your on the national stage, "break a leg"

Vet in Texas   November 13th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

And how was my comment different than GET REAL'S?

Farrell   November 13th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

At last; our long national nightmare will soon be over!

Biden$   November 13th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Bidens were like " I really dont want to be here".

N. S. Huntsville, Al   November 13th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Joe I don't know how you pulled it off, I would have declined being with Cheney the devil, no way in hell, but it's all apart of the game. I noticed Biden just said it was a good visit. I hope Joe wore a bulet proof vest, you Cheney is trigger happy.

hugh ~ california   November 13th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

What a difference a day makes! Cheney and Biden are acting all nice and polite, but I'll bet Cheney would like to take Joe hunting. Oops! My bad Joe, I wasn't aiming at Your head!
I'll would also guess that Biden is thinking how much he can't wait to see Dick get the notice that his lease is up.
What I'm longing for is the hope that Dick Cheney will move to an "undisclosed location" and will never be heard of again!
Good Riddance Dick!

Kristina, Seattle   November 13th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

Helloooooooo awkward!

Peter (CA)   November 13th, 2008 6:41 pm ET

Did Joe make sure the shotgun was locked up when he went in?

I can imagine the conversation:
Biden--Mr. Cheney, I don't think the Vice President is allowed to do that.

Cheney-Who says, you left wing pansy.

thomas   November 13th, 2008 6:41 pm ET

This looks like a real exiting time for all. This is definitely a gathering of the too much fun club.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia in CA   November 13th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

And, Biden was right (about Cheney).

Get the hell out of our house!!

legare   November 13th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

Oh GOD. I hope Biden's secret service is in there with him!!!

ChicagoJosh   November 13th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

Be careful Joe, he looks hungry.

John   November 13th, 2008 6:36 pm ET

I bet that was the longest fifty minutes of the lives of everyone involved in that visit.

big daddy   November 13th, 2008 6:35 pm ET

Just don't go hunting with him Joe !!!!!

GET REAL.   November 13th, 2008 6:34 pm ET

Later reports suggested that Mr. Cheney invited Mr. Biden to go hunting, but Mr. Biden declined, saying that he was fairly sure that plenty of angry white men would be gunning him and Obama come 2009.

Never thought I'd see the day where whites would get a taste of what it feels like to be trapped by societal stereotypes. Expect to see more F-150s "bumpin'" country in rural areas.

Gun Nut   November 13th, 2008 6:34 pm ET

This most have been the scariest day in Biden's life. I am sure he had a bullet-proof jacket on and made sure not to say anything stupid since he most certainly was being wire-tapped.

popeye   November 13th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

My sympathies to the Bidens.
Has to be worse than a three day weekend with the in-laws!

Jonathan M in a Red State   November 13th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

Biden's got a pretty good lookin' wife. Cheney.....not so much.

Maryland Democrat   November 13th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

I hate saying this, but I can't help it.

Every time Dick Cheney smiles, his face looks so sinister! It's almost like he can't smile naturally, or be in true good humor, unless he is cooking up some evil plot!

New Day   November 13th, 2008 6:27 pm ET

JOE, JILL, DONT EAT ANYTHING, JUST IN CASE!!!!! Oh, I wonder if Cheney will teach him any Sith skills or let him hold his light-saber.

joe   November 13th, 2008 6:27 pm ET

awkward!!!!

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   November 13th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Yuck! I'd rather French kiss a rattlesnake than meet Cheney.
