GOP governors unhappy with Palin press conference

MIAMI (CNN) - Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity - but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”

Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party."

There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.

In an interview with CNN, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour shrugged off that suggestion.

"That's just somebody running down a rabbit trail. There's plenty of oxygen here,” he said.

I almost feel sorry for the GOP having to deal with the Palin debacle, "almost" being the operative word. Clearly she is attempting to set herself up as the head of the party. As a liberal democrat I could easily cheer her on, hoping they'll all self-destruct, but I'm not that mean.

This woman (Palin) is unbelievable. She has no substance, no shame and no awareness. Does she know the people are laughing at her? Can somebody tell her?

Her 15 minutes of fame are up, she lost the election, and we have a new President – can we focus on the winners here?

Everybody has forgotten, due to all the flak and propaganda
spewed by the media, that Sarah Palin was successful in
politics in Alaska because of her honest quest to rid Alaska
    politics of crooks and scalywags.
The very Republicans who are against her now don't want
her on the national scene for good reason. She is a danger
to their ongoing carpet bagging of the American people.
Do yourselves a favor. Stop listening to the media and
go out and find her book. It's only 145 pages or so long.
Read the book and do your own research. You'll find a much
different Sarah than you know now.
She's got my vote anytime, anywhere. She's exactly what
we've all been crying about wanting in Washington for years.
Just because she's gorgeous doesn't mean she can't lead.
And let's put a worn out question ,since the election, to rest.
Had Sarah Palin not been on the McCain ticket, I and millions
of other Republicans would not have voted that ticket....PERIOD!

It's obvious the Mississippi Gov is to busy looking at other things palin has and not the whole picture. Of course she is sucking up all the media this stupid woman really thinks she can lead this party and she is saying and doing everything she can to appear that way. These other govenor's are so stupid, they are sitting back and letting this moron speak for their party, LOL this is so hilarious to me.

Let them continue to let her keep running her annoying mouth, they will be in a bigger fix then they have right now. Palin is for herself, yo see how she kicked mccain to the curb and started campaigning for herself. When are you people going to wake up to this loud mouth, ignorant fool.

Is everyone in the GOP afraid to stand up to this woman? I say this because eveyone that has spoken against her will only do so with anonymity.

Someone forgot to post the "Check Your Egos at the Door" sign at the GOP governors' conference. I guess they didn't learn much from the election. Poor GOPs.

the media needs to ignore her so she will go away. she is a loose cannon and does not represent the majority will of the republican people. she is selfish and thinks very highly of herself. she will destroy anything and anyone that gets in her way for power. she needs to be stopped before she can hurt the party even worse.

What else should these people have expected? For Gov. Palin, it's all about HER and getting herself elected to a higher political office. The Republican party as far as she is concerned is only to get her there. She doesn't care about the party or its problems.

Please stop with the Palin crap. If you stop reporting it, maybe she will go away. I vote NO on more Palin coverage by the media.

The more this woman talks the more DUMB she makes all Republicans look. She already took down John McCain, now she is determined to take down the entire party for good by setting herself up for a run in 2012. Good riddance!

I know it's not the media responsibility but someone needs to tell her she not ready and really sound like she don't know what she is talking about. Everytime she brings up Joe the Plumber sound like someone telling me the story of Santa and we all know how that story ends NOT TRUE!
