Gore isn't heading back to the executive branch in an Obama administration.

(CNN) - Al Gore won't be serving in the Obama administration, his spokeswoman said Thursday.

The former vice president, winner of the Nobel prize for his environmental education efforts, had been considered a likely candidate for the post of "climate czar."

"Former Vice President Gore does not intend to seek or accept any formal position in government," Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider told the Washington Times. "He feels very strong right now that the best thing for him to do is to build support for the bold changes that we have to make to solve the climate crisis."

Smart move for Gore and frankly for Obama. Gore can do much more good with the freedom he gets from being on the outside.

Here you go AGAIN CNN with your instigating headlines. Keep that crap for the GOP and your favorite homegirl, Sarah "Dizzy" Palin. There is no drama amongst the Democrats so stop trying to create it. Gore stomped for Obama and obviously he's not interested in a position in his administration. Nothing less, nothing more.

Good luck Al and keep up the good work . Remember to keep your ego in check (we all have one) and serve from the heart – not the head.
I and many others have the utmost respect for you and wish you nothing but the best. Oh yeah, kisses to Tipper!

So long as Obama asks his advice and they communicate on a regular basis- we can fix this climate crisis in 10 years no problem.

Frankly i'm starting to doubt Gore's good intentions towards our planet. He really isn't doing much on his own, but talking and documentaries.
He should take advantage of a political position to physically do something for the planet.
At the moment, with all due respect, he seems to be a lot of hot air!!

Good. I mean, let's be honest. What would he do...bore everyone into submission on renewable energy? Let him flounce around town and find someone for the position who will be more effective.

Right, He'd rather get paid for speeches, books, book tours, and the like. Too old, lazy and gray to put his money where his mouth is and put himself in a position to actually do something about what he preaches to the world. I admire the attention he has brought, but he was a loser in 2000 and he's clearly still a loser now.

Couldn't care less about this story or Gore......I blame Bush on him and his inability to fight like a man.

    This won't get published!

    @ Catty

Please look up the following words in th edictionary and the closest wiki site or encyclopedia you can get your hands on:

    Socialism
    Marxism
    Communism
    Capitalism
    Fascism

Then, do some really deep soul searching and analysis and admit to yourself that your silly nonsense about socialism is way off base...while the last on the list, fascism, is really the closest -ism we've gotten from a President lately and it was your precious G.W.B. and his rabid dog Cheney who brought it to us.

NOT REPORTED BY CNN – I also have decided not to serve in an Obama White House. But I don't really think anyone was ever really speculating to the contrary, so never mind!
