(CNN) — Want a job in Barack Obama's administration? Be prepared to fork over nearly every detail of your life.

CNN's Suzzane Malveaux obtained the seven-page questionnaire that asks applicants to reveal everything from tax returns to blog posts.

Check out the application [PDF]

Hillary supporter for obama   November 13th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

It is a smart thing to do and should be done by everyone in office when fielding for jobs… We would be very stupid to hire anyone without knowing their complete background. We wouldn't have so many people with unregistered hand guns or unsafe airports attended by untrained idiots if management were doing the same with their hires!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama- SMART MANAGER!

nancy hughes   November 13th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

I will tell you libs who is doing the vetting…Michelle. She's the boss and is she ever after Whitey. You got what you wished for and now we just have to sit and see what CHANGE AND HOPE mean. So far that's all you voted for or saw in this man's great speeches, hope and change we can believe in! You guys think you are sick of Palin you have no idea how sick we are of those words or obama's loud pastoral voice.

Vic   November 13th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

I'll work for his administration for free!

Georgia Girl   November 13th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Obama has to do this because all of you hate filled right wing nuts are going to lie in waiting for any and eveything to jump on him for. God forbid he hired someone that happened to be in the same room as someone who might have done something, then those folks will be all over him. He is just making sure he doesn't give people any reason to start up on him.

maynard hopkins wi   November 13th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

wHO WOULD WANT TO WORK FOR THIS PERSON ANYWAY. HE HAS TO MANY TIES TO CORRUPT PEOPLE IN AND OUT OF THE U.S.A.

Bridgette-PA   November 13th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Well, I guess I'll never get a job with the Obama Administration because I have defended him for 21 months on the blogs! The things that I have written were not nice. Even though I was defending OBAMA!

Liberian in Toronto   November 13th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

To ALL the bloggers complaining about the Obama's vetting questionnaire, how the heck is he going to change how business is done in Washington if he does not put in place a thorough vetting process? Do you guys/ gals favor patronage appointment or do you guys/gals want ALL those with clean record in government? I have read the entire document and there is nothing wrong with the questionnaire, considering what went in the last 8 years of Bush's adminstration…

Matt   November 13th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Lets be clear….CNN states this is an application however this is merely a questionaire and we have no clue on what positions this is for? Most likely this is for Cabinet faced positions.

Where is the rest of the documents?

Ian Vandendool   November 13th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

That's tremendous. Think about it, if Obama is that meticulous with the people he brings onto his staff, imagine how tight he'll be fiscally. I'd love to see him uncover a huge pile of taxpayers' money. Think of every dollar put into a bus, every cent of tax on a can of Pepsi, every person's cheque every payday.. every single day taxes are paid and maybe it'll take a democrat to make every dime it go to work.

NoPalin   November 13th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

David "paranoia, mistrust, disdain for all around them, iron-fisted control" You have just described the Bush administration to a tee. Fascism personified, and if he had his way, he would be dictator-in-chief. I don't know about you, but I look forward to an administration that reads and understands and lives by the Constitution, instead of the current one that just ignored the parts that held them accountable to US, and rewrote the rest to suit them and their rich cronies around the world. Obama is trying to find qualified, honest, Americans for these jobs, not hiring his cronies and cronies from daddy's administration. I am thankful.

Tom   November 13th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

Why does it say "Clinton" in the margin?

Tired of Repubs   November 13th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

I guess, if you can't find anything more substantial to criticize than a page count, Obama must be doing pretty well indeed. ;)

jamaica watch   November 13th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

he has a large task, needs the best minds down to the least person to surround him
i have filled out applications that are more than 9 pages, if you want the job, it will not stop you. Go Mr President-elect

hitobito   November 13th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

This application is nothing compared to the application and scrutiny I underwent went I went to work for a branch of the US government that specializes in espionage. And I already had a Top Secret Codeword Special Intelligence clearance when I applied! I wonder if that employment would disqualify me for a position in the Obama Administration? Nevermind, I'm way too old now anyway!

Nobama   November 13th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

It's funny how all the followers said he's not my president when Bush was elected but now everyone that doesn't agree with BO has to shut up and take it? Typical liberal; always so "open-minded" and "accepting" unless you don't agree with them and then you are just scum or, worse, a republican. This country is doomed

Independent   November 13th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Nothing wrong with being thorough, but it is only fair to note that when people in America (not just right-wing nutjobs, but actual independent thinkers) spoke up and wanted to know the same about Obama, the media and the left-wingers drowned them out. They kept saying how Obama's been in news coverage for the past two years. While that may be true, that doesn't mean the media was giving us anything substantial and this detailed IN the news coverage.

We don't know this much about Obama, and it's my opinion that applying for the job of the president should require more vetting than any other job.

I still support him, though, and like I said there's nothing wrong with this level of vetting. He's our president

Ryan - Troy, MI   November 13th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Since someone as inexperienced as Obama can become President, maybe I can become the Secretary of State!!

Faye, NV – RELAX!! Everyone bashed McCain and Palin so it's fair to get on Obama a bit. It's just in fun. I'm not leaving this country but if you don't believe in free speech maybe you should go.

Stara   November 13th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

You should be proud of a detail orianted chief, a person who really wants to be a leader, wants to select only the best and surounding himself with the best by vetting properly.
Government is NOT the job of ANY hollow person. It needs a lot of talent and focus such as we see in Obama to start it Right.

Jeff from Jersey   November 13th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

It's better that they all come clean now rather than wait until they are indicted.Far too many have thought that they wouldn't get caught with their dirty laundry only to find that the smell gave them away.

MR.PRESIDENT-ELECT,

It's a good start. There will be those that will still lie anyway but you'll scare some of the worst off before they get a job they shouldn't have. Those that still lie will have their lies on paper so you can easily give them the boot if it comes out that they did have something to hide.

It's a step in the right direction in getting rid of corruption in government and I applaud you for it!

janine   November 13th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Do people actually know what the meaning of socialism is? Do they know the ties that McCain and Paling have?
LOL at the people who are still calling Obama a socialist. They don't realize that socialism already exists in the United States and these were implemented by Republicans.

Joanna   November 13th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Oh boy, That is a long one. I am working on mine.

Allan G.   November 13th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

How come he doesn't have to fill out a lengthy application. All he had to do was have a fit if anyone asked him of his background, and the media came to his rescue…Stick to issues!…Stick to the issues!….

No way could this guy get a security clearance in my day. Admit to using drugs, or say more than one word to a known communist, let alone terrorist, and… NO CLEARANCE FOR YOU…NEXT

paul (staunch Moderate)   November 13th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

This list of requested information is nothing compared to what I went through in getting cleared for my position in the military almost 40 years ago….

Paul, Riverside, CA   November 13th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Note to GOP, use this when vetting future VP picks.

Youtubby   November 13th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

CNN, again, this is getting ridiculous..I am talking about the Palin coverage. I know that the more people who click on the story, the more you think you have to run the story just so you can get readers. But to be completely honest, the majority of those clicking are clicking to tell you how fed up they are with your coverage of her. So please do us all a favor and stop the madness. I know at least 10 people including myself who have started switching the channel everytime her name comes up on your network. Please lets focus on the important things happening ie the economy, the war, etc. Those are really more desired news stories than Palin this, Palin that. If you dont have a story, heck do one on the soldiers dying in Iraq.

No Phony Independent (AKA GOP)   November 13th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Can't let it go can you..Shall we talk about your loser in chief "ties" to Keating 5 and inapproriate gifts, etc.. shall we talk about half a mil the rebublican comittee Mccain chaired gave $500,000 to terrorist HAMAS..right wing dingbats and ignorant folks like you are the reason why we have 364 electroral collge votes.. keep it up because we need 2012 as well.. you'll wake up tomorrow and OBAMA will still be POTUS (elect).. Deal with it.

Steve   November 13th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

For those of you who are constantly implying that Obama is going to be a dictator I'd suggest three things: 1. Learn about our country's political system 2. Get psychiatric help. 3. Get some sunshine.

All the time you're going crazy about Obama, President Bush just signed into law a regulation that allows police and other law enforcement agencies to spy on you without probable cause, and without telling anyone they're doing it, until they come and drag you away. WHO is promoting a police state?!?!?!

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   November 13th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

….ya think Palin will apply?

email4kh   November 13th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

This is a reasonable application for someone who doesn't want to end up with someone like Sarah Palin on his staff. McCain could've used this document.

To get a job with a major bank I have had to fill out questionnaire almost as long as this. Basically they want to know everything you did, said, bought or owe, for the last 10 years. And this was just to work as a service agent for a bank. So, no shock that to get a job working within a stones throw of the commander of the free world, you have to provide a lot of details about your self. Good. We dont want any unpleasant surprises to pop up.

Vicky from Milwaukee   November 13th, 2008 12:50 pm ET

we need change   November 13th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Well, it looks like we will get the change we wanted. I wonder why everyone i have talked to that is successful, moved their money out of U.S. accounts. Everyone knows he will raise your taxes and penalize those you make a little over 100k. People, that is about the average income for a normal household for a two income family. I noticed the long lines of people who voted that don't work, and will never work. It was all about race, and your uneducated if you think otherwise. Doors are closing for Circuit City, Starbucks, and many more stores. We are screwed, and looking at the stats for the people who voted for The Amazing Obama, you got the idea. Great job guys. You wanted the change, you got it. "we will make it, it may not be today or tomorrow, but we will make it" nothing but a racial statement. MAKE WHAT????????

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   November 13th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

To "Travis Johns"

Concerning question 16; it requires listing any memberships WITHIN THE LAST 10 YEARS, not WITHIN YOUR LIFETIME.

The idea is that people can make mistakes as a teenager, and be respected members of society FOR 40 YEARS, and they still have quite a bit to offer.

In short: grow up and shut up. The grown-ups are finally back in charge.

Yamini Balachandran   November 13th, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Let us pray that Palin will stand for 2012 and we SURE will elect her this time… I will work for her administration rather

God Bless us all….

PHS in RI   November 13th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

If McCain knew how to vet like Obama does, Palin would have been dismissed after the first round of interviews.

Angela   November 13th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I am a federal employee, and yes it takes a LONG time to process an employment application and get hired. So I can only imagine the process when applying for a position that will be in such limelight.
For those of you who have no experience with the Fed. government employment process, stop making this so negative!

I'm an American American   November 13th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Obama.. WOO!!! with the changes he supports in the bailout we'll be that much closer to China's socialist economy!!! oh wait… I thought we were a free market..? no wait.. This early trend in policy will have dire consequences down the road. So many radical governmental evolutions began with supposed subtle changes. This form is just to make sure his people are of like minds and will not challenge his policy. Wait.. that kind of sounds like a dating service…

Scott Tucson   November 13th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

If Obama was just a simple Southside Chicago lawyer applying for a White House position, after filling out this application do you really think he would be selected for a job there??

Independent but Leaning   November 13th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

Candy West Virginia- I have said nothing untrue. Obama has those connections, and he (not I, but HE) said he wants an armed civilian security force that is as well funded and equipped as the US military. That's exactly what the German S.A. was.

I know the truth hurts, but it's not "lies, cheats, steals, smears and hates," as you call it.

Think of it this way: would you want that force to carry over and answer to a Republican president? Would you have wanted Bush to have raised a civilian para-military force like that?

No. And neither would I.

Brian from Fort Mill, SC   November 13th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Shouldnt he have to clean up Chicago before he thinks he can clean up th eUS

indianapolis   November 13th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

hey david…shouldn't you be more worried about getting out to stock up on your guns…or tuning in to the conservative talk radio haters for some brainwashing…or just some general bad-mouthing of what was a truly landslide of a victory as opposed to the "52%" reference you made? Oh wait, you are doing the latter.

Swede   November 13th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Now why do they need to know if you, or a family member, own a gun? I shake my head… This is the beginning of a bad 4 years. PE Obama made many promises these last few months, but the realities of the world cannot be ignored, and when he is unable to fulfill all those promises then what? The Pledge states "One nation under God", time to start praying…

In reply it Obama #uno perhaps it would be better to remember.
John F Kennedy when he said,

"Ask not what your country can do for you? But ask what you can do for your country."

While it's obvious you don't like Democrats then you had better get used to it, of course you can always go and live somewhere else.

After all the Republicans picked Sarah Palin/George Bush/Carl Rove/Dick Chaney, and that great military mind Donald (Duck) Rhumsfeld.

I rest my case

How is this more vetting than the Pres-elect went through? That doesn't even make any sense. If you believe that you're just not very intelligent. But hey, look who your party picked for VP. Someone who was not vetted or intelligent.

john marcato   November 13th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

I think this is pretty much a non issue. Its barely news worthy. Why not replace it with substantive reporting on what experts (not pundits) think about what specific scenarios will play out with certain policy decisions. Like, what will SPECIFICALLY happen if we don't bail out GM.

Emily   November 13th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

I wonder how long it will take before we see this questionairre on Myspace bulletins HAHAHAHA.
(Sorry I couldn't help myself)

Michael "C" Lorton, Virginia   November 13th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

If you have ever applied for a government job, the application is an open book to your life–they leave no stones unturned. And by the time you finished the lengthly application–someone has already filled the position–good luck to the applicants.

Unafilliated Pagan   November 13th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Hmmm
1) Yes, many of these questions would be problematic (or possibly illegal) to ask as a private employer. The government plays by different rules.
2) I suspect that this is just an initial screening question set. As TC notes, a full Security Clearance document is considerably longer and much more intrusive. (Also, providing false info on one of those is a Federal offence.)
3) I don't see how owning a gun disqualifies someone. Illegaly owning one might.
3) Yes, this does blur the line between public and private information. And that is troubling. OTOH, I suspect that the responses to this questionnaire will be kept secret (even from misguided FOIA requests). The public does not have a "right to know" about every applicant, and only a limited right to know about actual hires.

4) I think that the Obama administration-preparers are doing the right thing here. They are trying to reduce the chances of a "Nannygate" or other media-driven quasi-scandal like the Clinton and Bush administrations did. It shows to me that this adminstration has apparently learned from the mistakes of the past. (Which won't prevent them from making new ones, or finding new ways to make old mistakes — that's life as a human.)

Vikki - San Antonio, TX   November 13th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

I too have received the full application and have seen nothing like this.

It does not look too far out of line but I have one question, where are the first few pages and requests for information?

This document looks a little made up to me, there is no mention of Obama or president elect or transition team until near the end, also the document says Obama transition foundation and everything on change.gov says Obama-Biden Transition team.

What do y'all think?

NV   November 13th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

dizizi31   November 13th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Devils in the details just ask Monica what she put on her application. He should probably ask for character references.

Tabi   November 13th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

I can only be satisfied with the application process if I am tapped-in for a position in the Obama administration. I am well qualified though an ordinary citizen.

Franky   November 13th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

I'm still waiting for that application.

And no, my record is clean and my credentials are like no other. I mean, Warren G. Harding ain't got nothing on me! LOL!! I'll be someone like him…I said "tried", O.K? LOL!!

Kel in Auburn, AL   November 13th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

This is meaty. President-Elect Obama knows how to run an organization. Especially a government administration. This guy's stuff is watertight.

Georgia Gal   November 13th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

Yes, this is quite a job application with alot of very personal questions, but its not like these people are applying to work at Wal-Mart, McDonalds or even a high profile company like CNN or someplace like that. These people would be applying for a job to work for the President of the United States. At any time in history a job working for the President should require quite a bit of questioning that you would not receive at another job, but at this time in history I honestly would be surprised if they didn’t ask questions like this.

Meagan   November 13th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

So because Obama wants to make sure the people in his admin have up to date gun registrations and appropriately filed tax returns, he's a dictator? Dems have always had to have a CYA attitude when in office because Repubs look for any and every opportunity to point out their faults and skew their public image.

mike   November 13th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

I cannot wait for the liberal media to start eating their own, that being obama. He even thinks about leaving the left to move to the middle they will be at this throat. However, I do not expect him to leave the left so he will have his one term like jimmy carter.

30-m-PA-Democrat-voted McCain   November 13th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

No way would I want a job with this man. CBS news put a story this morning stating that Hillary would have won by a wider margin if she was up against McCain. The Democrats picked the weaker candidate. Unbelievable. If the media was actually neutral, Obama wouldn't have made it past the primaries. Also, the CBS news story noted that 26% of Democrats voted for McCain.

Goodson   November 13th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

If only McCain had made Sarah Palin complete one of those forms.
Maybe she wouldn't have made the ticket.
next time, vet your candidates like the democrats.
democrats are progressives, so their's absolutely no room for error

Ken   November 13th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

What an honor to be able to serve Mr. Obama and the American public. No question is off limits, we need to completly vet everyone and anyone who has an interest in serving this great nation of ours. We need to make sure that there are no hidden agendas.

So what   November 13th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

It's extremely thorough….so what!?! Might as well disclose everything because the media, political figures, etc. will and they will scrutinize every appointment he makes. This way he will know about his appointments' skeletons before it airs on primetime news. I say if you don't like it then don't apply! Simple as that!

Love My USA/Do You?   November 13th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Why did n't they do this to BO? The american people are still asking the question, Who is BO?

Brandon from Ohio   November 13th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

I don't really blame them for having such a long application. They want to ensure they don't get applicants like Palin getting past the interview process like she did w/ John McLiar.

Jeff   November 13th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

I received the application and it was fairly straightforward. It asked for my job history, references, education, a copy of my resume, and then asked for the industries and agencies in which I've worked. Perhaps this was just step 1 (actually step 2), but I think CNN's reporting of this is a bit inaccurate.

Specifically, the longer "tell us everything" application is standard for anyone seeking a political position. Background checks are standard and, especially for those positions that require confirmation, can be extensive.

This is not something odd or unusual about the Obama administration. What's unusual is the fact that they are accepting applications from anyone. Usually, administrations don't ask for application. They simply seek out individuals (friends, past co-workers, significant campaign workers) that they already know.

young and informed independant   November 13th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

RealityKing   November 13th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Can you say liberal litmus test??

Joe Unger, San Francisco   November 13th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Sounds like Obama wants to be sure he had true "Obaks" on board.
This sounds just like the Bush administration process when they vetted people in order to only bring aboard true "Bushies." Do they have to sign a loyalty oath (to Obama) also?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Jesse from Santa Rosa   November 13th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Yeah, I think he should just take all of the applicants to a big room and play musical chairs. Those who don't get a chair, don't get hired. That would show that he agrees with some of the tactics employed by the GOP. Also, if I were the first African American President, I would want to know everything about the people wanting to work closely with me. I am sure there are all kinds of evil folks plotting against him right now. It seems like a safety measure more than anything. He makes sound decisions at every turn. He is "The One".

Milhouse van Houten   November 13th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

On page 6 paragraph "VII Domestic Help" the questions (54), (55) and (56) make reference to question (49) and it doesn't make sense.

They should refer to question(53).

The Great Obama is no longer a news item–boring, boring, boring. All we will hear from now on is which dog he will choose and which private school his girls will go to. Do we have to also support the mother-in-law? And why isn't he attending his grandma's memorial service? As Hilary used to say–the speeches are over-the real Obama will emerge–who will it be? the far left-wing guy or the middle whom he catered to after the primaries?

This is going to be great, I won't even need to getup in the morning and drive an hour to and from work anymore. He will pay my mortgage, gas and health bills. This is the change our grandparents could of used back in the 30's and 40's. If they would of had a president like what we have just voted for, this country would be the most powerful country in the world. Ohhh wait, they would never have voted for someone like this, they actually went to work. Look what they gave us, and look what we will give our grandkids in the future. Hell we probably won't even be here. Wonder what this country will be called? Good job on electing this guy, good thing my company is sending me overseas for several years, and i will not witness this downfall, just hear about it.. have a great time.

In response to Independent but Leaning:

You have every right to your opinion and your vote for the public officials you support. I do find it concerning however that you comment about Obama being socialist or tied to terrorist or whatever.
While I feel you have every right to say so, I think it really lowers the bar of the national conversation. McCain, George Bush, and every fact finder organization has repudiated these charges and grossly over stated or down right false. Your argument sounds like you just listened to Rush Limbaugh or some other right wing rant show that profits from getting you all riled up. There is no more truth to this than the charge that Sarah Palin is not the mother of her son Trig. Its all just a smoke screen to prevent people like you and I from focusing on the real issues, finding our commonalities, and finding solutions. Best wishes

Common Sense   November 13th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

The application should state "if you are an ignorant racist confederate sympathizer, you need not apply". Or more simply, if you voted for McCain, don't even bother. Like the moron named "Independent but Leaning" or is it "Unintelligent and Learning"?

The country has put up with the failed Bush administration for the past 8 years. Give this new administration a chance and stop your crying and talking garbage. The fear and smear didn't work for McCain and it won't work here.

Other than that, have a nice day.

I see now that Obama wants money for the automakers and a new czar to oversee (isn't czar typically a communist/socialist term?…hmmm). Anyways, we will have a huge government under Obama. Huge. Plenty of jobs to micromanage every detail. Lots of money will be needed though. Get your checkbooks ready America. 2010, tax cuts expire, all of ours will need to go up to pay for these programs and new jobs. Get ready folks.

1. What is your name?
2. Do you have a pulse?

Todd In Des Moines   November 13th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

@Independent – Your comments are way out of line and completely uncalled for. To equaite Americans, just like yourself, regardless of politicacl affiliation, to Nazi Stormtroopers, is cowardly and you are abusing your First Amendment rights. Just because you can say it, doesn't mean you should parrot Congressman Broun.

As for the Obama application, this is no different than any other government app.

Ken   November 13th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Hey Independent But Leaning, you can laugh all you want at me. But my man is in power now. So have your little laugh if that makes losers like you feel better.

And just to get the historical perspective correct, Nazi Germany was a RIGHTWING regime that slowly gained power though hate and fear mongering. Sound familiar?…..or are YOU too near the speakers to have any perspective? Mr. Bush, and all his little rightwing lemmings like you, indeed had America going down political and clutural paths that had much in common with Germany of the 1920s. Unlike Germany though, enough of the American people woke up in 2008 and diverted the rightwing [R] disaster that you so fondly continue to support. So keep laughing you neo-moron.

#59 What does the fact that someone owns a firearm have to do with anything?
I take issue with many of the questions on that "application", good thing I would never fill it out. Obama may be the President-elect and as such will have my respect for the position but not the person. I would like to see his responses to this application.

I can understand vetting someone for any possible conflict of interest for the job, but it looks like they just want the "right" people. Looks kind of discriminating to me.

Why????   November 13th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Independent but Leaning you need to apply for a job with President elect Obama administration and stop the hate. It seems that you really hate yourself because, God say to love thou brother as thou self.

Has your underwear been fabricated in a foreign nation, if so state the country of fabrication and state your reason for buying foreign underwear.
Has your underwear been involved in any sort of controversy in the past, or does your underwear have any criminal charges against, if so, have they been fully pardoned.

If the above does not apply to you, please state your reasoning for going commando…

I held my tongue for 8 years while I saw president Bush turn our country towards the biggest downward spiral we've seen in almost 30 years. The least you can do is close your mouth until President-Elect Obama has been in office for at least one year. Another thing, take the energy you use for your tired, boring rhetoric and do something useful in your community for those less fortunate than you. That can be your contribution to change.

Note to Barack:

If you see Michelle leave the house in the following, lock her in a closet:

1. Print dresses (great style, not for first ladies)
2. Multi-colored dresses (especially like the election nightmare dress)
3. Sweaters of any kind (she needs jackets)
4. Dangling earrings (not appropriate unless it's a formal)
5. Wedge heeled shoes (not appropriate for first lady)
6. Neon dresses (like that red-orange dress she wore to the WH)
7. Stripes of any kind (especially horizontal ones)
8. Tight dresses (unless she's alone with you, this is not good)

Just lock Michelle in the closet and tell the press you don't know what happened to her.

4. Obama is our president regardless of what you think of him, so learn how to respect others, rather than name calling.
5. Only stipid people make points by name-calling. You want to futher your view, educate yourself and make intellegent points.
6. The reason why your party (obvious republican, not indepent) is losing is because there is a serious lack of smart and congenial people in it, just like you.

My concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska’s investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars.

I'm really sick of the conservatives saying Obama is a 'socialist.' Socialism has already been enacted by the Republicans when they 'redistributed the wealth' to the rich with Bush's tax cuts for the rich. Why are they so against having an educated man in the White House? Probably because they'll be found out for the lying, corrupt, cronyism crooks they are. Our economy is in the toilet because of their 'Socialism' and failed economic policies. Their only hope is to keep repeating the factless lies that seem to be the only thing they have left.

Maggie from Virginia   November 13th, 2008 11:30 am ET

The GOP should take notes on how real vetting is done.

Kim, Charlotte, NC   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Independent but Leaning………………..I'm sorry. But are you talking about George Bush and Paulson( biggest soclialists), or John McCain palling around with terroist (Sarah Palin and the first Dude).

Join the train of "Hope" and Lean forward!

FAYE, NV   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Stop hating, he's your President Obama also. The people have voted and it is over. Therefore get over it or move to another Country.

mitch   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

indy but leaning= republicanatsi. your party just gave $700,000,000,000.00 to to financial institutions. socialism? your party has spied on its own people, and sent our military into a sovereign nation, based on lies. they have tortured people. so, who is the fan of the german SA? i'm afraid you and yours are the hiltler lovers!

Fabrizio   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I think Suzzane Malveaux is hot and apparently she does one hell of a job too.

susie   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

If Obama had filled out a 7 page questionaire, would he had been able to run for President?

Dee   November 13th, 2008 11:29 am ET

You can LOL at the people who voted for him all you want but he is YOUR President too…if you live out of the country, then your opinion is irrelevant…

No one will have a problem with completing the application nor subjecting themselves to background checks and if they don't they should be smart enough to know not to apply….

It's not like Obama will be personally hiring the people in the lower level positions…geesh….

John   November 13th, 2008 11:28 am ET

Hey independant where did you flunk out of school?
It amazes me how poorly read the people of this country really are.

S from Chicago   November 13th, 2008 11:28 am ET

I wonder how many of the questions on this application violate some type of employment law…like discrimination based on health…

Jen   November 13th, 2008 11:27 am ET

Independant but leaning: You are the idiot if you believe all the crap that the GOP was feeding you.

Given the state of our country, I'll gladly take anything that resembles a little socialism right about now.

mitch   November 13th, 2008 11:24 am ET

he has to make sure there are no neocons sneaking in to infect the presidency with stoopidity.

M in DC   November 13th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I agree Will from NYC; the McCain camp dropped the ball in choosing Palin and not properly vetting her. Their campaign had more than enough time to select the best second in command candidate.

Jacob   November 13th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Looks like if you have a gun or your family member has a gun or if you know some one who owns a gun you can't a get a job with the president-elect.

Independent but Leaning   November 13th, 2008 11:20 am ET

That's great given how little we know about our socialist in chief.

I'm sure nobody with ties to the PLO, Hamas, or domestic terrorists like the Weather Underground will get through the screening process.

LOL at the people who voted for him. I never realized we had so many fans of the German S.A. in America.

Proud to be American   November 13th, 2008 11:19 am ET

I want to be apart of the Adminstration of true change ….. send me the application I will complete with bells on no worries ;0)

Will from NYC   November 13th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Too bad the McCain couldn't have done as good a job vetting their VP choice.
