Sen. Hillary Clinton met with President-elect Barack Obama Thursday in Chicago sources tell CNN.

CHICAGO (CNN) – President-elect Barack Obama met with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton late Thursday afternoon in Chicago, two sources confirm to CNN.

The meeting was held at the request of Obama.

One of the sources says Clinton went to the meeting because "she knew Obama wanted to talk about whether she would have a role in the administration."

UPDATE:
An Obama transition source says the meeting came about through Sen Lindsey Graham, a McCain supporter, and Rahm Emanuel, Obama's new chief of staff. Both men have had a "longstanding relationship," according to the source and worked out the meeting.

She would be a good choice as Secretary of State, and has proved her loyalty to Obama, and has a good knowledge of the world. She is one smart person. Sort of the Anti-Sarah (Palin).

Well, perhaps the "leak" is right! Sen. Clinton may be asked to be Sec. of State. She would be brilliant!

Since she ended her campaign I have believed that President-elect Obama would ask her to be Sec. of State, both she and president Clinton would make quite a team for U.S. diplomacy which thanks to the Republicans is in the dumpster!

Let's put the United States of America back to her image of a "shinning city on a hill" .........rather than the war-hate-monger status of the Bush/Cheney years!

EXCELLENT MOVE – She would be great. Tough also. Just what we need in the new administration. I think she would smoke Madeline Albright.

Hillary will be best Secretary of state. World leaders know her well they will work with her. We need Hillary to clean the mess made by Bush administration this is one of the smart move by Obama.

She will make a very good effective secretary of state, although I personally thought that she would make a good president too. She has better foreign policy and relation that Obama does not have.

Then again, why would she give up her secure senate job representing the big state of new york, and have a job at the pleasure of the president? She could be a senator for the rest of her life, and a secretary of state may last only months or years.

Change, what change, If Obama selects Clinton for Sec of State, It's the same old insider politics going on in DC. Sounds like the Clinton's may have given their support to Obama for this position. Give Americans a break. We want out with the old and some real change by new faces for the better of the country. Not positioning Clinton for a run in '12 or '16 touting her foreign policy experience. Politics same as usual.

Aww come on! I think Hillary would be a fabulous addition to the administration, but these leaks need to stop. I think the President elect needs to start tossing people outside of his inner circle, because these daily leaks are getting ridiculous. I like his old style better- a tight knit team who knew how to keep their mouths shut. This transition team talks too much.

Washngton insiders say Hillary will not have anything to do with the Obama Administration as she expects him to fall flat; and for Democrats to lose the majorityin the Senate. Hillary has her eyes on running for President in 2012. The smart money is on Hillary to stay in the Senate and distance herself from Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, all of who she expects to be out in 2012.

Watch out for the knife in the back Obama. She is still only a former first lady and a first terms senator. I remember the primaires HRC and the things you said about Obama. You are still out for yourself lady.

I think this is good news. I am an Obama supporter but Hillary did help Obama win the election in a direct and indirect way. She ran a long campaign and brought to the surface many issues Obama had so they were no surprise when the Republican tried to open those old wounds. Lets face it , many people felt tired of hearing it again and it had no impact because Obama had already addressed these issues.
I tend to think they compliment one another. Obama is more diplomatic while Hillary is more demanding. They both can learned from each other. Not to mention Hillary did over 70 campaign appearance and rallies for Obama. It is a good match!

I was always a Obama supporter but I see no reason why Hilary would not make a good Secretary of State. She has dealt with Foreign leaders around the world. She has more experience then Condelessa had as Secretary of State. Hilary Husband would be a good advisor to her. Giving Hilary this spot would for sure keep Obama in for 8 years. This is like the number 3 or 4 spot in the cabinet.

I anticipated it and am happy to have Hillary be the top diplomat. She is sure very qualified but I cannot say more qualified than Kerry or Chuck Hagel but it will renew the face of Obama administration. She fought for him to be elected and she is smart to handle the post of USA top diplomat.

    God Bless Obama

This would be wonderful! Hillary would be great in position of Secretary of State. Hillary would have made a good President, but I am very glad that Obama won. We soon will have a "grownup" in the White House, and it is exciting.
