Obama, McCain to meet

(CNN) - Barack Obama and John McCain will meet in Chicago next week, the Obama-Biden transition team announced Friday.

"On Monday, President-elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain will meet in Chicago at transition headquarters,” said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter.

“It's well known that they share an important belief that Americans want and deserve a more effective and efficient government, and will discuss ways to work together to make that a reality. They will be joined in the meeting by Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman Rahm Emanuel."

The two men spoke by phone Election Night, but have not met in person since the Al Smith dinner in New York on October 16.

I wonder if McCain will hypnotise Obama into becoming a Maverick...whatever the heck that means.

All I know, it was the always the go-to answer when cornered...

He could be a good fit for the Dept of Veteran Affairs, provided that he REALLY helps them and ensures they are taken care of.....

Make him secretary of defense. He is a man that would die to protect this country, regardless of what political ideals anyone holds. I voted Obama, but I would love to see McCain in his administration.

I think Hillary is a great choice, and to all youpeople that disagree, just think of it this way, if Sarah Palin can EVEN BE CONSIDERED as President or Vice President, then i know Hillary can be anything in the white house and be qualified!

Maybe Sen. McCain will tell President Obama how to hunt down Bin Laden since he neglected to tell Bush.

If Obama chooses McCain as a cabinet member, then he already has changed how Washington works.

I would even go so far as tap Sarah Palin for a post in the Department of Energy - nah, that's a stretch.

What 's up with Sen. Graham? Why does he always meet whenever Sen. McCain meets. He has provided no explaination to his fellow South Carolinians. We admire and support him here is South Carolina. However, if this continues he may need to establish residency in Arizonia

  18. Not all women love Palin

If McCain and Palin retracts some of the horrible things they said during the campaign, they should be offered a job. Otherwise, no way, Jose.

Palin already shows no interest to retract, she told Wolf Blizer herself that she thinks the "palling around" comments were totally legit. This woman needs to go away. Her 15 mins were up long time ago. I'd elect my pet baboon to run for Veep way before I'd let her.

    Good for Obama.
Without the neo cons and without the Avon Lady, McCain can be great for us. Give him a job that suits him and he'll be great.
Just keep him out of health care or women's issues, thank you. And for the sake of all of our lives, don't let him have a finger on the war buttons.

I LOVE the idea of Hillary and Bill Clinton being involved in this next administration! Bill Clinton left office after 8 years knowing that our country was in the best financial situation we had realized in a very long time. I love the Obama's and pray for them every day.

I'm sure the meeting with John McCain will be cordial even though they have differences in policy.....at the end of the day they both want what is best for this country and will come together on that basis.
The election is over and we must all get over it and move on, whether or not you voted for President elect Obama, he will be our new President and I for one can't wait to see that happen.

Keeping it real – I feel they have mutual respect for each other and if you looked at their positions during their Presidential campaigns – there were a lot of similarities – the big difference "Palin". Hopefully they will come to a common ground to get things done for this country – "the speeches are over" – time to get to work!!
