Schwarzenegger backs Clinton for State job

Schwarzenegger likes the idea of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.
Schwarzenegger likes the idea of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.

(CNN) – California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger weighed in on the possibility of Hillary Clinton becoming President-elect Barack Obama's Secretary State, praising the potential choice as a "great move."

"I think she is a very very bright woman and very experienced. I think this could be a great move," Schwarzenegger told ABC's George Stephanopoulos in an interview set to air Sunday.

But Schwarzenegger, a Republican, also suggested Obama must be sure he can work with his former primary rival before he officially offers her the position.

"When it comes to those kinds of positions, what is equally as important, and I know with my cabinet, what is equally as important as who is qualified, is who can you work with. Who can you sit down with and really get in there and start becoming a partner [with], that sees things the way you see it," he said.

"And also that you maybe want to learn from that person and admire that person so much that you want to pick up some pointers and learn from that person, so that they together can go out and do this," Schwarzenegger also said.

Sources told CNN Friday Obama met with Clinton in Chicago Thursday to gauge the New York senator's interest in the top diplomatic post. Sources also told CNN Obama is considering New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for the position.

Clinton would not comment on the speculation Friday.

While I am a supporter of Senator Clinton, I am also a Californian. And, Arnold needs to be paying attention to what is happening in his state!

Arnold is an incompetant liberal who should not be in the Republican party. How dare he advise a Socialist-Democrat about appointments, when his party is under political attack from the Socialists .

Anybody got change? Give it to Obama so he can take a subway out of DC when he falls on his face. Obama is coming to DC riding a donkey with palm branches thrown in front of him – the Messiah crowned by his followers, which include CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times. If anybody thinks change means naming a bunch of DC insiders to your team – I got a bridge to sell you. Obama's staff will include Biden (35 years in DC), Clinton, (too many years in DC already) Richardson (20 years in DC, his chief of staff, Dodd, Kerry (20+ years in DC) and a host of other long time DC insiders. Obama has pulled the biggest fast one on America in a long time - We now have a junior senator with 1 year of experience running the country -- welcome to the Depression.....

It's finally happened! The smoke fumes from all of the fires have affected Arnold's brain cells. No need to be coy Hillary. Your hunger for power is well known. Don't be shy.

Who cares what he thinks!! He may have thought he was "cute' when describing Mr. Obama, but his humor was in poor taste - only for those who opposed the Democrats' candidate. I'm sure Maria had deserved fun with Mr. S. His humor shows his age.

Hillary in the White House again? Bad idea. She will draw too much fire from the right and Pres. Obama will have a heck of a time trying to keep the middle in line. She's too much of a lightning rod. If he picks her it will be the first wrong thing he's done.

THIS IS THE SAME MAN THAT GAVE TALKING POINTS ON PALIN DURING THE GENERAL. EVEN THOUGH HRC WOULD BE A GOOD CHOICE WE FEEL THAT BILL WOULD BE TO PROBLEMATIC. LET US NOT FORGET HIS MOUTH DURING THE PRIMARY. WORDS DO MATTER, HOPE IS NOT AN ILLUSION AND HIS SOUTH CAROLINA
    WORDS WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Hillary would be a good choice for Obama, however, I'm from New York and she does a very good job for us. I'd hate to lose her voice on our behalf in the Senate.

We all love Arnold for his movies and being a likeable person but ... as governator. NOT. His opinions about the Secretary of State and the Obama Presidental cabinet mean nothing.

i think she is a good choice, kerry very smart, polyglot but his jokes are somrtimes out of bounce might cause a pandemonium, Bill richardson well qualified good negotiator, diversity and a different perspective but not as popular as Hillary on the world stage, political analyst Obama supporter for life and this is the only post Hillary can occupy in this administration or supreme court judge incase of any supreme court nominations.
