Schwarzenegger backs Clinton for State job

Schwarzenegger likes the idea of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.
Schwarzenegger likes the idea of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.

(CNN) – California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger weighed in on the possibility of Hillary Clinton becoming President-elect Barack Obama's Secretary State, praising the potential choice as a "great move."

"I think she is a very very bright woman and very experienced. I think this could be a great move," Schwarzenegger told ABC's George Stephanopoulos in an interview set to air Sunday.

But Schwarzenegger, a Republican, also suggested Obama must be sure he can work with his former primary rival before he officially offers her the position.

"When it comes to those kinds of positions, what is equally as important, and I know with my cabinet, what is equally as important as who is qualified, is who can you work with. Who can you sit down with and really get in there and start becoming a partner [with], that sees things the way you see it," he said.

"And also that you maybe want to learn from that person and admire that person so much that you want to pick up some pointers and learn from that person, so that they together can go out and do this," Schwarzenegger also said.

Sources told CNN Friday Obama met with Clinton in Chicago Thursday to gauge the New York senator's interest in the top diplomatic post. Sources also told CNN Obama is considering New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for the position.

Clinton would not comment on the speculation Friday.

REPUBLICANS SHOULD BECOME LIKE ARNOLD SOME DAY; FORGET ABOUT CONSERVATISM AND TRYIN TO SHOVE IN THEIR RELIGIOUS CONSEVARISM TO OTHERS.
REPUBLICANS , ESPECIALLY THE RELIGIOUS CONSERVATIVE FACTION, ARE ANTI- CONSTITUTION. THE CONSTITUTION HAS CLEARY FORBIDEN INJECTION AND INTERFERRENC OF RELIGION INTO AND WITH GOVERNMENT. THEY HAVE YET TO UNDERSTAND
WHAT DOES "SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE" MEAN.

DID YOU HERE THE SPEECH OF SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR, DeMint? THESE GUYS ARE STIL LIVING IN THE DARK AGES.

We need CHANGE, not same old crap like we've had for years from Clintons and Bush !!!

Mr. Obama, pick some good honest people on your cabinet, please. And help our country....

Who cares what Arnold thinks. CA wasted all the money for the recall and A.S. did nothing new to make that a sound move. Why is he even chiming in on this..
Arnold maybe you should concentrate on problems HERE and leave the rest to the pundits.
Have you even said anything about the fire in Santa Barbara?

She would be the most qualified person. She has the capability
to be the President, proven by her campaign performance, and
SOS, would challenge those capabities and she is up to the de-
manding challenges that position poses. We need the most
capable person, especially in today's world.

Amazing how the die-hard Obama fans express chagrin at the thought of two intelligent people of great courage and conviction, (Clinton and Lieberman) getting recognized by the new Pres-elect as they deserve.

All through the Campaign we heard CHANGE< CHANGE.
but did it ever dawn on you that Obama's idea of change was never really EXPLAINED?????
What Obama did share at rallies was his admiration of Lincoln for brininging in political foes to strengthen his Administration. What he stressed in his book was the need for bipartisanship and the fusion of opposing ideals for the common good.
"We can all agree that we should work toward decreasing the number of abortions..." among other things.

I voted against the guy twice this year because I really didn't believe he would do what he said. But at least I remember what he said.

If these OBAMABOTS really think productive CHANGE in WASHINGTON means bringing in all your own new people to do your bidding, they weren't paying attention.

I never cared for kool-aid, but I am pleased as punch to see a candidate work to keep his promise.

    Go President-Elect!
Do right by the conscious-driven Lieberman!
Use the talents of Hillary and McCain if you can!
Stop GRIDLOCK AND PANDERING IN WASHINGTON!!!!

Hillary would be an outstanding White House PressReporter, working with CNN. She and CNN would be an outstanding team, both are exceptional at maniupating the news to say what they want it to say. Hey Obama, don't miss that chance. Just think, the news would always be reported just as you wanted it to be!

YES! Hillary for SOS! Don't worry about conflicts of interest because of Bill's activities. The Clinton's survived Whitewater and Monica and can survive anything as long as there is a Democrat in the White House.

I don't care how hard Obama looks for squeaky clean cabinet members, there are going to be characters with shady pasts popping up all over the place. In politics.... there are no purists!

    Griff shut up already!!!!

I think Hillary would be best at S of health and human sevices. That would put her in a better place for her plans for universal health care.

I guess if you ever handled a gun or viewed a dirty video on the Internet, you don't qualify for a cabinet post. At least one of those disqualifications account for 95% of the list of prospects!

For the love of God Barack dont do it. The bottom line is that Hillary has no integrity as evidenced by her campaign. She cannot possible the voice of American diplomacy if you want to be taken seriously abroad.
