I really don't know what's worse. Having to pay thousands of dollars to get into this event.. or only being able to get in because you know the right people and kissed the right butts. Either way.. only the privileged attend.

A fool and his money are soon parted, if these idiots want to spend their money for this then let the fools do so . Why would you care about something as stupid as this , I know someone at work that spent $2000 on fake gold for his character on world of war craft he has 2 kid at home and could have started a college fund for them .Listen to yo mom she told you a fool is born every minute history repeats itself over and over you are wasting you time .These idiots are going to use their mortage money to buy these tickets then lose their houses and point their finger at Bush,as was done so with katrina and global warming. it's amazing how many people will and have already fallen prey to greedy ticket scalpers who's only objective is stuffing their pockets with as much money as they scan scam from the suckers who fall for the scams. obviously not everyone has done enough research to find out that the tickets are FREE and not pay $10,000 from scalpers who don't even have any tickets and 99.9999% chance never will! the person who paid $10,000 is an idiot and a sucker who just lost himself $10,000. poof! i, for one, plan to watch the inauguration in the comfort of my cozy living room as it's broadcast, as it most likely will be.

Those who don't understand the implications of scalping for a national event like this need to bone up on what being a citizen of this great country is all about. (Some people, it would seem, would sell tickets to their mother's funeral if they thought they could make money off it)

250k tickets divided by the 535 total congressmen means roughly 500 tickets for each member of Congress. If any normal citizen thinks they will get a ticket over major party supporters you are insane.

I find it comical how some people on these boards are still scared of the President-Elect because they received an email or went to a Palin rally or because of the color of his skin. Please everyone, let's stop the foolishness. Make sure that anyone who is interested in a ticket knows to call their local state representative's office and be placed on a list. There will be ONLY 240,000 tickets available AND they have NOT be given to the State Reps yet, so you know that you can't buy one. If anyone falls victim to this scalping you can believe that someone will be quite anxious to say that it was caused by "the Obama people". Those who are posting here like "J.P." and "RH" and "Obama Victim", why don't you figure out what you can do as an individual to help make things better for the people around you because based on your sacastic remarks, you need to do more.

Wow! I mean, WOW! If anyone had ever told me that a president could be that popular, even before he actually IS the president... Unreal... I am so happy i saved the TiVo from his visit to Berlin. Why is it such a big deal now. It seems that the game always changes. I don't recall anyone speaking about this during any other inauguration. Why not let Capitalism flow. This is an Historic Event, if people want to pay that amount of money then they will. It seem s to me the good Senator should be worried about solving/supporting solutions to get us out of this Crisis. Or stopping our jobs from leaving the country.

There are dozens of reasons why not everyone who wants to go will be able to go (money, health, etc). Why not host a party with friends and family and watch this historic event on TV. The view will be better, the temperature will be more suitable and the bathroom will definitely be closer.

I am excited that this will be the LARGEST crowd ever gathered for an inauguration ceremony! Of course it wont quiet the idiots, sore-losers and bullies of the far-right!

I saw a YouTube video of someone proudly proclaiming that he had just spent $10,000 on 4 tickets so that he and his family could go. I couldn't help but laugh at him.

Oh, and patriot: inauguration tickets have always been free. There is no socialism at work here. That comes later in the Obama administration.

I am on the "list" of one of my local senator's. The other's office sent an e-mail stating that they already had too many request. I hope I am able to get a ticket because being on the list still doesn't mean much when tickets are on a first come first serve basis.

The inauguration parade is also open to the public, so if you're not fortunate enough to get tickets from your state representative, feel free to stand along the parade route and be a part of history that way!! The congressman only get 198 tickets. Boby Scott says he's received more than 10,000 request for tickets. When is the inaugaral transition team going to release information to where the general public can stand?
