Unfortunately, Hillary is power hungry. She would do whatever to try to win, even becoming indecent and deceiving. I am afraid if Obama selects her for the Secretary of State position that she would not manage it well and make all the official trips her own vacationing time with OUR money

the clintons were once my heros...but this campaign exposed a side to them i did not like. hrc was especially dissappointing in her hunger and quest for power. she would stop at nothing. one should never desecrate their own party members to the point where ammunition is given to the opposition. shame on hrc for dragging down her own team member then EXPECTING a handout from him (first vp, then sos). the arrogance!!!!

They will make the money and pay if off, end of story. It isn't even a story.

She would make a great Secretary of State, but I think she should stay in the Senate. My hubby thinks she should be SOS.

This is a shell game not a news story. Clinton owes Clinton some money. Maybe she should sue herself.

I'm not knocking Hillary. Many other politicians end up in the same position.

But to say it is "news" when a politician owes money to his/her self is absurd.

Campaign finance reform! Money should not dictate who leads our nation. I commend Sen. Clinton for her efforts during the primary season. We should not elect a candidiate merely because they can out spend (although that usually does happen...part of the reason incumbents often win) and we should not shut out a viable candidiate because they can't raise insane amounts of money.
With that said, Obama should have done more to help Clinton with her campaign debts. He attended a joint event with her after the primaries (where she urged her supporters to help him) and he forgot to urge his to help relieve her debt. She showed incredible grace and selflessness in embracing his nomination at the close of the primaries and she went to bat for him in the general election. She was a great campaigner for him.
Obama should have done more for her to help relieve the debt (as is customary for the winner to do for his competitors in such contests). This is particular so in light of the disgusting amounts of money Obama raised and spent in the campaign.

The problem with the English language, and the spelling related to it, has gone the way of the dinosaurs because of computers and text messaging. The younger generation have no problem with this and all we do is give away our age when we find fault with it It is the wave of the future. The schools no longer teach writing skills because of computer use and children are taught to read phonetically. I guess we older folks just have to adjust.

I am only going to say this once. Obama was appointed as the nominee he didn't WIN the nomination.

Now with that said, in order for Hillary not to contest and take it to the convention floor he was supposed to help her pay down her debt.

However, when you look at the Clinton's net worth, this is really a non-story that the media keeps pushing. At the end of the day the Clinton's will write a check and pay off the debt.

Stop all of the Hillary hating. The election is OVER and you drones got the president you wanted so let it go already.

still have the power that they have always had. Remember Hillary would be our President if they had actually counted Florida and Michigan in the primary. still think it is funny that all the fuss was about penalizing the two state and the DNC actually gave them their full vote at the convention. I am happy about Obama's choices and feel that he understands what is needed to bring this country together. Obama is right to understand that he needs to embrace a sucessful democratic Pres and his genious wife.

Obama did not get caught in the drama of the media or the far left and has signaled that he does not want to fight and attack. Everyone who thought that Obama was not going to move to the center will be disappointed but I AM so happy that he is trying to bring balance to are planet. I am beginning to believe THAT WE CAN.

She continued running a very expensive and negative campaign long after it was clear she couldn't win. She wasted a lot of good Democratic campaign cash for both herself and for Obama. The fact that she put all the bills on her credit card doesn't mean anyone else should pay it off for her. Clinton was in debt by approx $20Million, of which she loaned the campaign $12M, and now she still owes $7.6M. And, Obama raised $800K for her.

It sounds like to me she raised enough money from her supporters to pay herself back, apply the $800K from Obama - and she still owes the remaining.... Come on..... enough already.......

She and Bill have plenty of money - Please! That's why they dont want to disclose those donor lists......

Obama does not need Clinton, but she doesn't get the credit she deserves from her detractors. I'd be happy to see some of that debt paid down by additional contributions, but I'm not optimistic, given the financial crisis we are in.
