Bush daughters give tour to Obamas

The Bushes toured the Obamas through the White House Tuesday.
The Bushes toured the Obamas through the White House Tuesday.

(CNN) - Jenna and Barbara Bush, the president's daughters, personally toured Barack Obama's daughters around the White House Tuesday, a White House spokeswoman said.

The Bush daughters showed Malia and Sasha Obama their future rooms and other parts of their soon-to-be home, according to Sally McDonough, first lady Laura Bush's press secretary.

“Mrs. Bush hosted Mrs. Obama and her family at the White House this afternoon. Barbara and Jenna joined, and they enjoyed showing their rooms to the Obama girls," McDonough said. "The visit lasted approximately one hour.”

This may seem like a small thing, but it is setting a social tone for "permanent" Washington to follow. That could go a long way in influencing the way Obama is received in DC. Looks like even the Bush's think the fridges of both parties have gone too far with the politics of division.

I would hope the people of our great country can see the goodness in the Bush family's offer to help the Obama's to adjust to their new home as our new First Family. These young girls probably are very anxious about their future, and the warm welcome the Bush ladies have offer to them and their Grandmother, will go a long way to help to ease their adjustment.
I have not always agree with President Bush's decisions, but his gestures in his last days in office do justice to the Office.
At the end of day please remember we are all Americans and the fact we can change leadership so smoothly speaks highly to the World!

some don't want a better world. but the ones who do want, lets go for a true change of hearts: lets remember times of politeness, courtesy, elegance, civility and truthfulness. these are the real powers. turn your tv . off when you see ugly and rough behavior.

Maybe, just maybe, it's conceivably possible that the entire Bush family, including the President, are actual human beings. Maybe the fact that his policies are hugely unpopular is a completely separate issue from the fact that he is a loving father and husband. And maybe it takes an actual human being with a functional brain stem to grasp these concepts, which would explain why so many of the posts on CNN are consumed with an irrational hatred of this decent man.

Hospitality is naturally a southern trait. The Bushes have been very gracious and warm. Let's lay the politics aside for now. Laura Bush has always struck me as a very warm individual. I think what the family is doing is a wonderful thing.

Texas Belle, I didn't know folks like you still existed in the real world. Must say I'm envious – wish I could bury my head so deep in the sand that I still had goodwill for this loathsome man and his family. Impeccable manners indeed! Meanwhile their father is guilty of some of the most contemptible abuses of power in the history of our country, but as long as his daughters are perfect Southern ladies, as long as the veil isn't lifted so we see the true greed and avarice behind, then all is well. I used to be disgusted, but now I'm just amused...

This goes beyond peaceful transfer of power. It shows admiration and a desire for friendship on the part of the Bushes. Wow...beyond words...just beautiful.

  20. Gerry in Va. for Obama.

Sorry but don't buy the hype, if you all remember, the "Bush girls" were going away to collage when daddy Bush was elected the first time. And then there was all the news about their alcohol use and drug use and partying while at school. That is until Momma and daddy Bush decided to keep all that out of the press. WELL they did grow up and I doubt they spent very little, if any time in the White House because I remember them saying they didn't want to be in the public eye that living in the White House would bring to the "Bush girls". So all you southern bells can cut out the gushing about how gracious they are because their from the "SOUTH". They were no different, hospitality wise, to the young Obama girls then any other ladies their age would be under the same circumstances...

How sweet, while the Bush girls are touring, some other little girl is packing up her belongings from her room because of foreclosure, another little girl cries for her daddy who was lost in a war that was a lie. The Bush twins will never want for anything ,unless justice prevails and their daddy gets indicited. Cry me a river, I'm not buying anybody's pity for the Bush clan.

Do you really think Obama's girls have ever wanted for anything. He has made millions on his books before he was ever heard of. Give us a break.
