While President-elect Obama is reaching out to his opponents, going beyond the election campaign and trying to create an inclusive administration, Huckabee is a typical republican with a "holier-than-thou" attitude. He is out for the money, writing a weak commentary, being critical of other republicans and pushing himself with Hannity.

I have voted for republicans in the past, but voted for Senator Obama this time. The republicans have a long way to go to gain any credibility back. The likes of Huckabee, Fred Thompson and Palin will not be able to give that to them.

@ FREENLOVINIT...... that's fine that GOD gave us laws. Here is the problem, NOT everyone believes there is a GOD, not everyone shares YOUR BELIEFS!

So, when the self-righteous-holier-than-thou-religious Republicans try and shove their values down our throats, it will backfire every time! IF you read the Bible, GOD is clear, that HE will not force Himself on anyone...... WE ARE FREE TO CHOOSE GOR OR NOT. YES, there are consequences, BUT THAT'S IS NOT UP TO.......YOU to decide who is or isn't saved! GOD IS THE ONLY JUDGE. Thank GOD!

The Republicans will continue to fail over and over, as long as they continue to spew hate, lies, fear, and division!

Obama certainly inspired his followers to vote no on gay marriage at a time when the movement really needed his support . I still don’t understand how you rationalize this....because you think his intentions are good? A Republican not supporting gay marriage is bad! Obama not supporting gay marriage is ok because his intentions are good.

Huckabee's a funny guy.... I don't like his political views mainly because they are infused with too much religious fervor, but he'd be a "good hang".
It's something to see the Republican party fall apart like this. I just love it!

Romney was a flip-flop and the right saw through it, that is why he was on the outside looking in.

I am still laughing at Guliana paying $30,000,000 for exactly one delegate, I think. At that burn rate, he would have needed a couple of trillion dollars to secure the Republican nomination to amplify his "911" based campaign platform.

Huckabee would have given Obama a run for his money. I don't know how him and Ron Paul didn't squeeze out a lot more voters. Seems to me there needs to be a new Republican party for people like me that have conservative values but don't want to support big oil and good ol' boy joe this and joe that. Go Mike! I like Obama, but that he's even CONSIDERING ANY Clinton, makes me wonder about the whole idea of "change".

Hey, I read somewhere that the Wall Street bailout is working. Really? After giving CEOs and upper top management their pay and bonuses and RELEASING thousands of workers, it's working? We should have NEVER bailed out Wall Street and the government should have just taken oven the entire industry to provide CREDIT and get the cash flowing. We should have let the CEOs apply for unemployment and welfare, the way I did for not being able to find work.

We should ask these people to do community service.

Well James, the difference is that Obama has never legislated with a Bible. He may be religiously adverse to gay marriage, but he respects equality and would never, ever consider amending the Constitution based on a sick misuse of religious dogma.

Dont hate laws that God has bestowed upon us to make sure we are successful as a society. Remember Wall Street! We took the laws and rules that it must follow and it crashed under the weight of lawlessness.

Marriage is between a man and a woman. Eighteen days after conception, that embryo has a HEARTBEAT. Anything that has a heartbeat is ALIVE. I struggled with it, but I realize I live because I have a heartbeat, so abortion is killing. We should strive to PREVENT abortions.

The Universe has laws and scientists study them everyday and realize that the laws are perfect for the Universe to stay its course. God gave us laws, let's not ignore them.

Thank God for the religious rights and their principles which IS aligned with God. Without them, Judgement will be upon US all, faster than we can blink. When we deteriorate in our moral judgements, so goes the entire country.

Let Wall Street be an example. When you remove all the laws and start acting according to your fleshly needs, the economy collapsed under the laws of GREED. We all lose.

Huckabee/Palin ticket 2012!!!!! This would be great, I can imagine the debate conversations now... talking about the country Africa, Pakistan being under Marshal Law, weight loss programs, clothing discounts, and how I did not get congratulated from my opposition in the 2008 campaign. This would be great, I can imagine the debate conversations now... talking about the country Africa, Pakistan being under Marshal Law, weight loss programs, clothing discounts, and how I did not get congratulated from my opposition in the 2008 campaign. Needless to say, this will all be said with horrible accents while giving subliminal messages of "I am a better christian" with hidden crosses. Go Republicans!!!!!
Ms. Kitchen, I have heard of the Mormon Church (and have not heard anything about an Indian genocide going on within it), maybe you could explain a little bit more about what the Morman church is you speak of?

Mike, Sweetie, let it go. For the record I think you would have been the best running mate for McCain. You still may not have won, but the Republican party would not have been relegated to a laughingstock. Sarah Palin was the gift that kept on giving - to the Democratic party. Maybe James Dobson was right, she was sent by God. Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

I cant stand Huckabee. I tuned into his Fox Noise show for 2 minutes the other day and had to change the channel. He was talking about the prop 8 protests and how much the protesters were turning "violent" against the "innocent" religious counter protesters. Give me a break, this guy just doesn't get it and hopefully the Republicans decide to stray away from these types of candidates or else their party will really be extinct.

Explain this to me please.

Why is it A-OK to take three (3) lines out of Huckabee's book to create non-existant discord among the GOP.

But it is NOT OK to take five (5) chapters out of Obama's book to point to drug abuse and a deep relationship with a racist pastor?

Have any of you read Clinton's memoirs? If you think Huckabee's book is bad what do you have to say about them?

CNN keeps deleting the truth!

You can’t be serious? Just four years ago Republicans controlled all of the Congress. Even in this election 47% voted for McCain. The Dems will do what dems always do-stray too far to the left and the Republicans will come roaring back.

Just what have YOU and your pathetic [R] party learned from the stunning mistakes YOU made over the last 8 years, mistakes that continue to bedevil this country now and for some time to come. You GOPers are the very epitome of "hypocrisy knows no bounds".

Hey Ron, I thought his ability to relate to the "common" man was a major reason you neo-tards voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. It is stunning, and very telling for the immediate prospects of the GOP, that you strive to make the very same mistake again.

You [R]s made a terrible mistake voting for Bush and the consequences to the country of that voting mistake have been horrendous...... yet you and your fellow neo-morons are off in la-la land trying to make the same mistake again, only this time with Huckabee. You people have no ability for cogent self-analysis. THAT alone should be the downfall of the GOP.

The elctions of 2000,2004,2008 were IQ tests, and many of you failed, 3-for-3. The level of stupidity running rampant in this country is incredible.

Shifting is what Romney is all about. Whatever will suit him and his needs at the moment. This should not be shocking to anyone.
I wonder if the book will include the Morman church's attempt for over 30 years to complete the genocide on the Native Americans that were removed by McCain's bill in 1997 onto a radio-active toxic dump so that the land could be sold and Peabody Coal could make millions off this land. It involved the "code talkers"....you know , Navajo that saved the U.S. in W.W.II. Will his book also include the remark he made when the loud noise was heard back stage,"oh,that's just Obama ducking from a shot".??????????pretty crude statement coming from a preacher. I have watched the past campaign and diffently learned alot about "dirty" politics. The GOP leads in this field.
The race is over.
Now, is the time for all of us to come together and work getting "our" country out of the messes it is in.
We have a presedent-elect and he is choosing his cabinet.
On with the work.

He is a former Baptist minister...isn't he supposed to "turn the other cheek"? But no...he's SLAPPING THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE FACE for no reason at all AFTER the election is over. He seemed to be the most far-right of all the Republican candidates to me. Mitt Romney wasn't so bad in my opinion, especially BEFORE he changed his views on abortion and gay marriage to pander to the religious right. I do not agree with anything that Gov. Huckabee stands for, but I do admire him for his strong convictions. It seems to me that he wants the Bible to become the law here in the US, so that we can outlaw abortion, gay marriage, & anything else evangelical conservatives don't like because of their religious beliefs. However, I must remind you that we DO have a separation of church and state in this country (or at least we are supposed to). That would be why I think the GOP needs to be more moderate if it wants people to come back to it. John McCain also changed his views on abortion, immigration, civil unions, and other things to pander to the conservative base of his party. I am an independent, but lean Democrat. If he had not changed his views to satisfy his party, I might have voted for McCain. I admire people who keep their own views regardless of the party's opinion...and it unfortunately seems like too many Republicans continue to move to the right to make the rest of the GOP happy.

The statement by Arcy concerns me:"Many conservatives, myself included, did NOT vote this election because we didn’t have a candidate in the race. We will continue to sit out in elections where there is no candidate who represents OUR VALUES." I beg you to take a deep look at how un-rational your statement is. WE (Americans) are a Nation of many different people, and to say you will only participate if there is someone who represents your values is childish, shallow minded, and excuse me for this, UN-AMERICAN. I don't understand this narrow minded and seemingly bigoted approach to Democracy.

As usual, finger pointing, postering, ego trips by the republicans.
They must stop this nonsense and face up to the fact they are
responsible for almost destroying our country.
They must put their egos, misguided beliefs on the back
burner and work on trying to resolve the crisises they have

They must stop this nonsense and face up to the fact they are
responsible for almost destroying our country.
I love it when you hate-mongering liberals try to lump all conservatives to the far right and still say you're christians - fat chance

you're all going to get what you wanted....socialist america and the end to capitalism and democracy...way to go Obama-maniacs...shall we all pray to the altar of the Obama's now?

Huckabee is really a cool man.... Even on channels like Al-Jazeera, sorry I mean Fox News, his show stands out. He is funny, cool and a good man. I wish Al-Jazeera, sorry I mean Fox news had more people like Huckabee.

The guy is a former Baptist minister. It's no secret that Baptists, especially from the South, have an ingrained hatred toward Mormons, or members of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Huck would probably do anything not to see Romney as the head of the GOP. Read the book, but do so with caution. There's more than politics in play here for the Huckster.

OK, Let me settle some scores with you Mike H. it is because of YOU the GOP lost bad this year. it is because of your arrogance that we lost the better nominee (Mitt Romney) and ended with the wrong one. it is because of everything you stand for the this party is going down the drain. it is because of the fact the you influenced people to vote against Romney's convections rather than his ideas that he lost the nomination and our wrong candidate lost the election. it is because of your stupidty that this party became something other than what I use to think it was. it is because of you knowing that you stand no chance at all to win the nomination and still your arrogance blinded you from seeing the facts that we lost. I can sit down and write a book about how I low I think of you. if the GOP wants to rebound then they MUST get rid of you and Sarah Palin and everything you stand for and rebuild the party based on the original values it was established upon with enough tolerance to accept that the best candidate does not have to be an evangelical to win the nomination and the vote.

I think Huckabee is getting unfair coverage on this. While it is arguable whether he is being too harsh or personally insulting to his former rivals (I would argue he is, but perhaps only slightly depending on the context of his comments), the TIME article I read mentioned that attacks are not the main thrust of his book. The corrections and ideals necessary for the GOP to rebuild and move into the future are what he spends most of his book talking about. Perhaps that's why he attacks some of his rivals, because he's trying to show that the GOP should not follow these particular leaders (or principles they stand for) into the future.

So, I think the media coverage is overemphasizing the negative parts, which by all accounts, is only a small part of his book.
