WASHINGTON (CNN) - Just when we thought it would be hard to tell the faceless bureaucrats in the Obama transition office from other the 24,000 faceless bureaucrats who already work in this building, the Pentagon Pass office made it simple.
The new arrivals have been issued “Purple” badges, which make then stick out like a sore thumb.
Most pentagon badges are white. Contractors get pink.
And the press badges are blue.
Perhaps that will help the purple badge people know to shut up when they see someone with a blue badge.
The transition team –we’ve been told - is under strict order not to talk to news reporters.

CNN, why is this news?
yea but they'll open their big mouths!
This is a newsworthy story????
Oh well, nomatter, the badges make sense to me. And having dealt with the press in past years, I wouldn't want to talk with them either.
This tells that the press should not simply publish news that is not confirmed.
Somebody need to put a muzzle on them, geez whatever happened to being discreet?
This article is a waste of space. They should be talking to these officials instead of reporting the color of their badges. Maybe they are trying to avoid you, thats why you do your job and track them down even as they avoid you. Write an article when you have some real news, not when all you have is a lame rationalization on why you have no news.
I guess they didn't want to rub it in and issue the newbies GREEN badges.
This is interesting. Do you think there a bit of the us vs them mentality at the Pentagon. Even though those people actually fighting the war voted overwhelmingly for Obama, eight years of filtering out non-Republican loyalist has likely left the Pentagon heavily weighted with those who identify with Republicans. This could be a hint of problems to come.
CNN always scrounging for sensational headlines in the absence of real reporting of real news. Gimme a break.
We don't need no stinking badges!
A waste of space, indeed! Is this just CNN's backhanded way of dissing the "newbies" for not giving lengthy press interviews at this point? Really, you could have spent this time seeking out REAL newsworthy stories. Seems many of us have more time on our hands now the the election is over, the press included, lol.
Smile by ! Not everything have to be dramatic...
I agree with Michael, Houston Texas. This isn't news....
TWIMC: SHUT UP!!
go to the white house and interview some people. I know the Bush administration will have alot to SAY! lol
The color of the badge shows whether you love Big Brother now.
Or need re-education.
Huh???????????????
Slice of life guys, CNN is showing you what its like for the transition team. When you work at a defense contract firm or DOD, your badges are all sorts of colors meaning all sorts of security designations. I imagine for the transition folks who may have never been to the Pentagon, you get that "First Day in School Feeling".
1. Purple Badges? You mean purple, as in royalty?
2. No......this ain't news........
CNN: Your opening paragragh should read: "...from the other 24,000" not visa versa. Help wanted: Proof Readers!
"will know to shut up" - ???
When will CNN know to shut up? Apparently never.
Someone give this "credible news agency" a purple badge so they can better act their part and not like some soap opera.
Silence Dogood> Ummmmm Yeah. You don't think the Bush Regime was Big Brother? Please.
CNN...this is not news!
There are new faces at the Pentagon everyday. I
would submit that it has been that way for years given the military's propensity to transfer people from post to post.
The paint on my back porch is drying, it's green, can I get a job at CNN now?
Purple??? Shouldn't they have been pink???
Obama in 2012
corruption is not Ted Stevens and a measley few thousand worth of favors. Corruotion is the Democrat Party using Freddie and Fannie to bring down the American economy.
