(CNN) –- A major obstacle in Hillary Clinton’s path to becoming President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state may be out of the way, as former President Bill Clinton has made several concessions to help move his wife’s vetting process along.
A source familiar with the discussions between Sen. Clinton and the president-elect confirms to CNN that the former president will release the names of several major donors to the Clinton Foundation as well as submitting future foundation activities and paid speeches to a strict ethics review.
In addition, the former president is offering to step down from his day-to-day responsibilities at the foundation and inform the State Department of his speaking schedule and any new sources of income.
President Clinton’s international and financial dealings with his foundation and presidential library have been a sticking point with an Obama camp worried that Sen. Clinton’s position in the cabinet could create a potential conflict of interest as the country’s top diplomat.

If I was Hillary, I'd be tempted to kick Bill to the curb...
Loved the vet comment btw.
This is wonderful news...President Clinton's being agreeable means Obama will surely offer Hillary the position.
I would love it if the governor of NY makes President Clinton Senator Clinton. Wouldn't that be a hoot. First to have a first lady become Senator and then to have the former President become Senator.
If that happens he will be busy and Hillary can go around the world and be a great Secretary of State.
Brian in Sugarland- -DUDE! where were you when the Brains were handed out? Can anybody else figure out what this MORON posted?
Just wondering
Anyone who had dealings with a know felon such as REZKO makes Bill make concessions. This just convinces me how wrong OBAMA is for our country. Like a catalog hanging on a outhouse wall it's just wrong, wrong, wrong.
Why would he not agree?? hmmmmm.
I had hopes that President-elect Obama would look for fresh up and coming individuals such as himself. Instead he is surrounding himself with old line politicians that bring with them a stagnant and foul odor. The Clinton's of course, will be thrilled to have their foot back in the door of the White House and just as soon as they do, they'll bide their time until they can boot Obama out.
Well, I bet she's glad that she didn't tear the party in half now. If she had continued campaigning up to the convention then she would be stuck in the senate for another 4 years. Now there's not a thing that can keep her down in 4 – 8 years when the Obama administration is done.
Thank you President-elect Obama, President Clinton, and Senator Clinton. This sets a wonderful tone for our State Department. Despite the skill sof Sec Rice, being hindered by the rascals in (Bench) Team Bush has left her with no credibility, and cast a pall over the entire department.
Senator Clinton, please accept. We need your leadership, no-nonsense talking and definitive actions, and experience on the world stage. The world loves Obama; we need your help to keep giving them reason to do so.
The lemmings don't care if Bill is back–they just wanted their idol to be on the ticket for his oratory skills–it is not as though they did not know he was inexperienced–I am sure they are all relieved that SOMEONE will know what to do at 3 AM.
The only cabinet post that Hillary qualifies for is Secretary of Ugly.
Thanks Bill.
We need her.
'Bout time, Bill. Too bad he wouldn't release all those funding sources when his wife was in the running. Trying to keep yourself as the only one in the Clinton household who held the big chair? Oh well, it was well enough for me, as I supported Obama from the get-go, but now at least Bill is doing something in his wife's best interest. Will that make him First Mr. Secretary of State or just Bill Clinton, the husband of Sec. of State Hillary Clinton. Whatever the case, it's good to see him coming clean (?).
The vetting is so fake. Old Bill is CFR and Bilderberg. That's enough to know he is a globalist and does no have our best interests in mind no matter how he portrays it publicly.
"For all those who do not understand change, here's some enlightment. The Obama "CHANGE" is or was not about people, but about how business was done in Washington. No more underhand deals, lobbist running things, parties unwilling to work together or the tic for tac deals. Therefore stop misusing the word CHANGE because of people he, Obama, is hiring for jobs. He is bring a staff together that will work with one another and will get President elect Obama agenda done."
Hehehe, sort of like it depends on what is is. Now they are backpeddling and redefining change. Check out how many lobbiest are now on Obama's staff currently. You will either be shocked or redefine the meaning of lobbiest. Do you know what Daschle is? I'll help you out, both he and his wife are lobbiest. You need to wake up.
Does Bill get a room in the White House?
Jeff in Illinois, are you serious? You feel the most important quality for a President is charisma? So no intelligence needed. You certainly represent Obama supporters well.
And Happybob, you are mistaken. The best chance for peace is Hillary becoming SoS. Who else would you want dealing with Netanyahu? Huh?
I agree that there was a deal, and I think Bill is awesome for doing this (I think he's awesome anyway) He's been my hero for 16 years. always will be, flaws and all. Love him. Love Hillary, love them both.
The words Change and Clinton does not sound like what Obama based his campaign on. Same people, same ideas. Will the furniture be returned now? I am really sorry the Clinton's wont just go away. What was Obama thinking? Now I'm sorry I voted for him.
Bill must really want Hillary to be secretary of state. I hope she does get/take the offer.
I too am a hardcore Zionist supporter.
Hillary campaigned fiercely for Oboma and this help him to win the white house.
Fay in NV,
I totally agree with your statement and I think TV pundits and political writers should take note of it as well. Obama's change is philosophical and intellectual, that's what I hope most of us voted for and its what we're getting. The fact that Obama is bringing in people who know Washington doesn't mean he's going back on any promises, it means he's getting people with practical experience together who can help him sculpt his vision. The guy hasn't even been sworn in yet and I can see progress. People doubting Obama will learn to eat their words.
Thank you President Clinton. Hillary will be a remarkable Secretary of State and will preside over a renewal of the United States being respected throughout the world. President-elect Obama could not have made a better choice!
he owes Hillary at least that for all he's put her through.
its a different world people.....the clintons are power hungary too
they can not fix all our ills............
Faye, I think your intelligent and accurate description of change will be wasted on a lot of people but thanks for the great post.
