Source: Bill Clinton agrees to vetting

Fmr. Pres. Bill Clinton has agreed to several concessions in Hillary Clinton’s vetting for Secretary of State.
Fmr. Pres. Bill Clinton has agreed to several concessions in Hillary Clinton’s vetting for Secretary of State.

(CNN) –- A major obstacle in Hillary Clinton’s path to becoming President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state may be out of the way, as former President Bill Clinton has made several concessions to help move his wife’s vetting process along.

A source familiar with the discussions between Sen. Clinton and the president-elect confirms to CNN that the former president will release the names of several major donors to the Clinton Foundation as well as submitting future foundation activities and paid speeches to a strict ethics review.

In addition, the former president is offering to step down from his day-to-day responsibilities at the foundation and inform the State Department of his speaking schedule and any new sources of income.

President Clinton’s international and financial dealings with his foundation and presidential library have been a sticking point with an Obama camp worried that Sen. Clinton’s position in the cabinet could create a potential conflict of interest as the country’s top diplomat.

Hillary has no real foreign policy experience, but as my mother always says, keep your enemies/opponents close.

Hillary will not be a good choice for Sec of State with her limited worldview. We saw how she faked her international experience on the campaign trail. I would very muchlike to see her in the cabinet...but in another position. Was hoping that she would get the HHS posting that Daschle just got.

I was quite impressed with the way President-Elect Obama ran his campaign. However, the amount of leaking that has occurred since his election with respect to nominees or appointees to his administration is disheartening for me as an Obama supporter. Mr. Obama must get a handle on the timing and the way this information filtered to media and made public. Right now it appears that things have gone out of control with his transition team. In any event, all the nonsence by the media and the political right about him having too many "Clintonistas" in his cabinet is a JOKE. The horrifying economic and global shambles that the Bush Administration and the GOP is handing over this country to Obama in, warrants the brightest and most experienced people to take on the critical situation that this country now face since the GREAT DEPRESSION. Is there any question from anyone out there why President-Elect Obama is looking for EXPERIENCED AND QUALIFIED candidates? Give me a break all you right-wingers and media personnel!

eagleberger was prasing hillary, for crying out loud, LO,

    while deriding obama,

on his intention to end iraq war and negotiate with iran, syria and north korea, presumably.

neo-cons and zionists want more wars on top of iraq war.

and they know hillary is in their pocket.

Seriously people, are you ever happy? On one hand, you all shout how Obama is so inexperienced. He picks experienced diplomats for his Cabinet, and that isn't good. Would you rather he just randomly pick people off the street? Ask John McCain how well that worked out for him. Obama isn't even in office and already so many are complaining. Shut up! We have dealt with Bush/Cheney policies for 8 years. Obama has to be better.

I heavily supported obama. But i dont agree with the decision to put Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.

Honestly, what does she know about foreign relations.

Bill Richardson is the OBVIOUS best choice.

    This shouldnt be difficult.

  18. NO NO NO Clintons

This is not good news. I did not vote for Clinton and I am sick to death of the Clinton drama.
Obama does not owe Hillary anything. She stayed in the race way too long and fed McCain and Palin lots to use against Obama.
    Be fair CNN
This is not a Clinton love fest!

I think Hillary would be better as the Secretary of HHS instead of Sec. of State. Then she could concentrate on her goal of healthcare reform full time.

being said that about a senator being president.obama proved that was false.is about putting country first.mcian country was just a slogan he idnt meant it. if hillary accepts being secretary of state, that shows she is putting country first and if she runs in 2016 and presents her case to me i vote for her. it is all if the country thinks she is qualified o not.

I only gave Obama a chance because of Hillary's ringing endorsement of him after the Primary. I honestly hope she is the Secretary of State as it will make her 18 million supporters happy.
I have a lot of respect for Obama for doing this and am glad our family gave him our full support after the Dem. Primary. I think he's going to be a great President.

A lot of people get off bashing the Clintons, but our country was much better off when Bill was in the White House. The Clinton haters just don't get it. Most of them voted for George W. Bush. Think about that with your morning coffee.

Hillary would be an excellent Secretary of State.
The Clinton bashing "bloggites" need to chill.
