(CNN) –- A major obstacle in Hillary Clinton’s path to becoming President-elect Barack Obama’s secretary of state may be out of the way, as former President Bill Clinton has made several concessions to help move his wife’s vetting process along.
A source familiar with the discussions between Sen. Clinton and the president-elect confirms to CNN that the former president will release the names of several major donors to the Clinton Foundation as well as submitting future foundation activities and paid speeches to a strict ethics review.
In addition, the former president is offering to step down from his day-to-day responsibilities at the foundation and inform the State Department of his speaking schedule and any new sources of income.
President Clinton’s international and financial dealings with his foundation and presidential library have been a sticking point with an Obama camp worried that Sen. Clinton’s position in the cabinet could create a potential conflict of interest as the country’s top diplomat.

Hillary Clinton is a bad choice for Secretary of State.
The real question is, if Hillary is Sec of State, will she be able to leave her aircraft? What with all the sniper fire and all.
Bill's only requirement is that he be allowed to 'vet' the interns.
So I'm sure Bill and Hill are wondering, where is Secretary of State in the order of succession? I'd be a little cautious if I was above her.
Political deals without end for the Clintons. Why do people not see them for what they are? They know that since Hillary did not win the nomination and the White House that New York is about to kick her out. She has done nothing for us. This is another effort to shove the Clintons on America for longer than any temporary public servent needs to be involved in their government.
About 300 million Americans. Tons of people out of work and the one people keep forcing on us is a Clinton. Come on people wake up. There are better people out there to be our voice.
To Sweetie: I must applaud you for the first intelligent comment you have ever written and on top of that I actually agree with you. Amazing!
If it wasn't an obstacle when she ran for President, why would it be now?
Great! Now that a week is past the initial question of VETTING fomer Presidnt Clinton; thus many sources of information will be missing!
Remember, Whitewater documents????????????????????
WHATS WRONG OBAMA SUPPORTERS YOU DON'T LIKE THIS CHANGE. IT'S JUST STARTING!!!!!!!
THE CLINTON MACHINE WILL RUN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!
Johnny d, Randy, Clinton basher and the rest of your Fox escapees:
You are being rounded up and sent back to your pound!
Only intelligence allowed here!
Do you OBama haters and change 'trolls' really think we are that stupid? Obama hasn't even taken office yet and you morons are bashing him. How bout bashing the clown who has ruined your country and give Obama a chance. Or go back to faux news and blog your hearts out there.
Why would Obama want the grasping and self-serving Clintons in his administration?
How is this change?
Just because Obama has chosen to consider the same people from the Clinton years doesn't mean he is unable to bring the "change" he promised. This is still Obama's presidency. He is a smart man and I doubt he will just roll over and play dead.
Thanks Bill.
The fact that a former US President has to be vetted is a sad truth. But who is vetting Hillary? She's got more skeletons in the closet than he does. So then the question is, what skeleton does Obama have in his closet that forces him to allow the Clintons to take over his administration.
This so called change is looking a little more like the same old same old every day.
IF HILLARY GETS SECRETARY OF STATE I AM GOING TO LOVE IT!!!!

To: sonnett,
I agree with you 100%! I regret backing down and voting Democratic!! But, in all honesty my vote was not for Obama, but in honor of Hillary.
And, to all you who want to be done with the Clintons...well, they have been in politics a heck of alot longer than Obama. They know politics and I'm glad they will not go away!!!

LOOK AT THE STAFF!!!!!!!!
JUST WAIT UNTIL HILLARY GETS HER POSITION!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, Tulsa! So true! They've dug and dug for 16 years and the best they could do was Monica Lewinsky. The Clintons survived that one so they just keep on diggin'. These people exclaiming, "Finally! Bill's gonna get busted!" are a hoot. Bill ain't been busted yet because there's nothing there. But just like the WMD's and the war in Iraq and the lies about Obama, some people just fall for the propaganda hook, line and sinker with nary a fact to back any of it up. Common sense, get ya some!
President Clinton compiled an 81 page list of all the unfair and nasty things the Obama campaign said or alleged to have said about Hillary Clinton. He spent his last bit of credibility years ago.
HILLARY YOU NEED BILL MORE IN YOUR LIFE THAN YOU NEED
THE OBAMA....AND YOU BILL BE YOUR OWN MAN OR YOU LOOSE
RESPECT........
I understand what change means. It means changing the way things are done and changing a way of thinking. It doesn't necessarily mean appointing new people with no clue on how to run things. I think we should value experienced people and have faith in their willingness to change.
I think it's a good move on Obama's part to bring in a few experienced people. He needs to hit the ground running to be able to have immediate impact. He basically has the choice of picking people who got their experience under Bill Clinton or George Bush (easy call). This is only about the 3rd appointment out of about 7,000 so I'm not worried about it being a "Clinton" presidency.
Didn't know he had a choice
only stupid people live in regret.
give the president elect a chance to lead first and stop second guessing him on every little thing. Nobody is going to agree on every single decision. relax....
nobama is uniting people alright.......................................................................the clinton administration.
