As a retired teacher I get very upset at the extremely poor grammer and spelling of some of these blogs. God , what a stupid nation we have become but even more upsetting is the idiotic comments of the bloggers. I am very proud of this man who now is our Vice President Elect. He is a very honorable and decent man who has served his country selflessly. On the other hand, the "tough guys" would hire a private security company, and pay it 2 billion bucks to catch Bin Laden. That company will very likely miss catching him, and ask for another 2 billion to keep looking. Then that company will file for bankruptcy, and get another 2 billion from the feds. Due to national security "interests," the friends will speed up that loan with no strings attached. Yes, the world will definitely get more dangerous, and that will happen regardless of who runs the country. The difference in handling a dangerous world is between somebody who will think and do it right the first time, instead of somebody who is impulsive and "shoots from the hip," and then later ready to live with the consequences of his screw ups.

Right on Tom in Delaware, I think it was thoughtful of Obama to do what he did, but, I gotta agree, it's the Clintons all over again, Obama had the chance to rid of them, and if he wants CHANGE, this is the way to gain respect from the people who didn't vote for him that want to support him,,,,,, move out the Clintons!!!!! I think Biden is in the upper quartile. Plus, he IS A NICE PERSON. You can't say that about a lot of senators.

It's nice to see that these two guys can be "human". Just like us, they deserve to be able to enjoy things such as birthdays, family celebrations, etc. I'm sure most of us adjust our professional behavior when we're not on the job and let our hair down, so to speak.

The negative folks need to get over the fact that Obama-Biden won the election and nothing but an act of God can change that. With the sad state of our economy along with poor international relations, things can only get better. I think its time for everyone to roll up their colllective sleeves and do their part. The story is nice it shows the human side. Something I have not seen in the last 8 years. Happy birthday Joe.

Years ago, I worked at a company where every time someone had a birthday in our division, there was a birthday cake. Everyone stopped for a few minutes, had a quick party, had a slice of cake, and got back to work feeling good. This happened a few times a month. We were all more productive after those parties!

But there was trouble with other divisions in the company, which were losing money and didn't celebrate birthdays. So even though our division was doing fine, the company forced us to cut back, and birthday parties were eliminated. Pretty soon our division was eliminated and we were all fired.

Moral of the story? Take time out to celebrate birthdays. It's good for the economy.

It sounds as if President-elect Obama is a thoughtful and witty boss. We could probably all appreciate someone like that if we just stopped and thought about it.

It's refreshing and just plain nice to see politicians letting their hair down (in a manner of speaking) and just being human. I also like to see the friendship and affinity that flows between Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I have read most of Joe Biden's autobiography, "Promises to Keep" ane recommend it highly. The press would not cover anything like this for Bush/Cheney...they don't cover the fact Pres Bush often visits veterans in the hospital, homes and also jobs with returning vets. You don't see these things b/c the media has demonized Pres Bush to the point where many of us who know the Pres have lost confidence in unbiased media reporting...I'm sure the next story on Obama will be him teaching his dog new tricks, and building the bb court...all the while Al Quada, Hamas and others are still planning...but hey, put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig right?
