Palin interview causes stir

An interview Gov. Sarah Palin did Thursday is causing a stir.
An interview Gov. Sarah Palin did Thursday is causing a stir.

(CNN) - It’s the ultimate holiday photo-op for any governor: the yearly pardoning of a turkey to spare it from demise days before Thanksgiving.

But former Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin is causing a stir for an interview she gave after pardoning an Alaska turkey Thursday, during which one bird was being slaughtered in the background.

Palin appeared unaware of what was going on directly behind her, though she did seem to take a glance at the unfortunate event at one particular point during the interview.

"It's nice to support a local business and just participate in something that isn't so heavy handed politics that invites criticism," Palin said during the interview. "Certainly will probably invite criticism for even doing this too, but at least it was fun."

"I am always in charge of the turkey so I am where I need to be today to prepare for that," she also said.

Career suicide before our eyes, people. A candidate who was already a national joke turns herself into a total laughingstock. What a complete turkey of a politician. She is clueless, ignorant, yet completely unaware that we're all laughing at her. Keep it up, Sarah. What's next? Seeing you filmed shooting polar bears or something? Give it up, already. Your career prospects are as dim as for that poor turkey with its head in the grinder.

  9. CNN :)

How many of you are horrified by a turkey dying humanely, yet would fight tooth and nail to protect the "right" to basically decapitate a 6,7,8 month old fetus because the mom "doesn't want it"? Would you even be disgusted by a video of THAT???

CNN, NBC, CBS...you guys are soooo affraid of Palin it's too funny.

Enjoy your steak tonight! You do know how those animals are killed, right? You know, the sick ones are simply bulldozed into the slaughterhouse....

Hey Karen, Do you eat beef??? Have you SEEN the BULLDOZING of those poor SICK animals that can't even stand???? Bulldozed into the slaughterhouse????? Enjoy your steak tonight.....

Ok, grant it Palin is not the best public speaker but why does she have to be? Does that even matter at this kind of event? It's a local tradition! You cannot tell me that the huge majority of Americans, Europeans, Africans, and Asians, and other people of the world do not, themselves, participate in some kind of tradition or other yearly undertaking that some person a thousand miles away wouldn't find the least bit odd! Why do you people think she was unfazed by this? It's because Palin was not raised to be afraid of something as trivial as killing a turkey. Did you really expect her to do something about it? Why would she? Lastly, why do you care? Why is this even in the news?

I am thankful Palin is not our VP-elect. But I am sorry for the citizens of Alaska that she is their Gov.

I love the fact that some people are defending her. We aren't upset that they are killing a turkey, they are laughing at how stupid it is to do a press conference with that behind her. Hello?!?!? Too funny because she proves what we knew about her all along, just how stupid she really is. Too funny!!!

I know where thanksgiving turkeys come from, but I have no idea where this dumb person came from. However, my thanks this years goes to McCain for picking her. Thanks McCain!

This isn't about food processing and knowing where meat comes from. Yes, meat eaters understand that turkeys are not born headless and featherless in the freezer aisle. It still doesn't mean we want to see the slaughter. I mean, everyone knows where babies come from and that birth is a beautiful fact of life – that still doesn't mean it's appropriate for a politician to give an interview right in front of a live birth.

It just reinforces how jaw-droppingly clueless she is. Nevermind the fact that she blathered and rambled for 3 minutes without uttering a single coherent thought. To think that this person was almost our vice president is simultaneously hilarious, frightening, unbelievable, and sad.

Republicans are missing the point once again.

We all know where our turkeys come from – we're just not used to seeing hick politicians give INTERVIEWS in front of a LIVE SLAUGHTER. If you think that is normal, than it is not surprising why your party is the laughing stock of the rest of the country / world. Being "folksy" can be charming at times, but this is not one of them.

LOL at the folks that still think Palin ran for President.
LOL at the folks that think Obama will fix everything.
LOL at the folks that blame Bush for the troubled economy.
LOL at the folks blaming the liberal biased CNN from running this so called story.
LOL at the folks who hate on the other posters because they are left wing liberal wieners or far right wing nut jobs.
LOL at the folks who have nothing better to do today but post comments like this that waste precious space.

Media died at 2008. People are losing their jobs, their money, losing their pride and media shows us Sarah Palin with at turkey being slaughtered behind her? Maybe next time while enterviewing Obama should do it at abortion hospitals and showing an innocent baby being killed.

I believe media is so scare of this woman and by the way I am pretty sure it was a set up.
